Base Game & Features
9 Lions Hold The Jackpot is a 3-reel, 3-row Video Slot, playable from £0.20 per spin, up to a max bet size of £100 per spin. Cash Prizes are not available during the base game, leaving the 2 Bonus rounds as the key components to seeing a return on your bets. This game has a Medium Volatility rating, a theoretical RTP of 96.14%, and a max win cap of 750x your bet.
Cash Infinity Symbols
Landing an Infinity Cash symbol on 1 of 3 central positions triggers the Bonus Game. These symbols can only land in positions Lion symbols have appeared on.
Lion Symbols
Lion symbols are stored on the right side of the playing grid. Filling all 9 spaces causes the 9 Lions Bonus Game to trigger. At the end of the round, the smaller grid is cleared, with matching spaces replaced with Lion symbols. This occurs only when Cash Infinity symbols are visible on the grid.
Chance Level
Enable the Chance Level feature before or after any game round to the left of the main reel set. Choose between 1 of 3 options:
- Chance Level x2: Two times more likely to trigger the Hold The Jackpot and 9 Lions Bonus rounds.
- Chance Level x4: Four times more likely to trigger the Hold The Jackpot and 9 Lions Bonus rounds.
- Chance Level x6: Six times more likely to trigger the Hold The Jackpot and 9 Lions Bonus rounds.
Bonus Buy
- Hold The Jackpot (low) – 50x your bet
- Hold The Jackpot (standard) – 75x your bet
- Hold The Jackpot (high) – 150x your bet
- Hold The Jackpot (extreme) – 300x your bet
Hold The Jackpot Bonus
Landing 3 matching symbols in the central positions of the grid triggers the Hold The Jackpot Bonus. Once active, all triggering Bonus symbols become sticky, awarding 3 Respins. Only Blanks and Bonus symbols can appear during this time.
Landing additional Bonus symbols automatically becomes sticky, replenishing the Respins meter to 3. Cash Prizes award between 1x and 5x your bet. Once a Cash Prize is won, a special Collector symbol will tally up the value of the win, boosting it by a Multiplier value between x1 and x20.
In addition, special Mystery symbols can reveal a Bonus symbol (excluding Cash Infinity). Jackpot Mystery symbols reveal Cash Prizes of 10x, 20x, or 50x your bet. Filling the entire grid automatically triggers the max win cap of 750x your bet.
9 Lions Bonus
Triggering the 9 Lions Bonus requires the entire grid to be filled with Lion symbols. Once active, you will be given the option to choose 1 of 9 Lions. The selected Lion will reveal one of the following prizes:
- Lion Jackpot Mystery symbols
- Cash Symbols
- 1 of 4 Jackpot Prizes
If a Lion Jackpot Mystery symbol is awarded, it will reveal a Jackpot Value. Similar to the Lion symbol, the Lion Jackpot Mystery symbol may also award the max win cap of 750x your bet.
Pros and Cons of 9 Lions Hold The Jackpot
Pros:
- Above average RTP of 96.14%
- Two exciting Bonus rounds
- Bonus Buy and Chance Level options available
Cons:
- Poor max win cap of 750x your bet
- Cannot trigger wins during the base game
Conclusion
Despite having an enticing backdrop and soothing sound effects, 9 Lions Hold The Jackpot is slightly underwhelming. The overall idea and nifty Jackpot Prizes are great, yet having a base game that cannot reward wins is far less engaging than previous titles from Wazdan.
On a positive note, the correct symbols appeared frequently during testing, meaning a Bonus round is never far away. Another disappointing factor is the max win cap of 750x your bet. For a game that facilitates a Jackpot feature, this figure is substantially lower than other Jackpot slots.
Despite all this, 9 Lions Hold The Jackpot does have its positives, one being how easy gameplay is to follow. In addition, the Hold The Jackpot round is fairly straightforward to trigger, awarding Respins which are highly sought-after!
