American Triple Double Gold Slot Review
A marble temple with Corinthian columns, a pedestal bowl heaped with gold coins, and red, white and blue light bursting across the screen. American Triple Double Gold is the most ornate three-reel cabinet you’re likely to load, and the decoration is doing something unusual: it’s hiding the fact that this little 3×3 grid pays through one of the sharpest Wild systems in the retro format.
That’s the case for it, anyway. It’s a 3×3 grid with nine fixed paylines from Circular Arrow, running at 96.02% RTP with very high volatility, and stakes from 0.20 to 40.00. The studio’s other titles, 12 Fortune Dragons and 12 Fortune Dragons Drum Frenzy, cover similar retro ground with their own twists. Almost everything on this machine runs through a single symbol, which makes it considerably deeper than the marble suggests.
Base Game & Features
This is a three-reel, three-row game with nine fixed paylines. Wins run left to right from the first reel, and only the highest combination on a line pays. The total bet is the initial bet multiplied by a bet multiplier of ten, and paytable values are quoted against that initial bet. Mixed BAR symbols pay as the Any Bar entry, so three different BARs on a line still return something.
The paying symbols are a short, traditional ladder, headed by the Statue of Liberty:
- Statue of Liberty – 2x the initial bet for three
- BAR – 1x for three
- Any Bar combination – 0.5x for three
Presentation does a lot of quiet work here. An Uncle Sam character stands beside the reels, and stars flare over the middle reel when the stacked Wilds land there. The base symbols themselves are drawn in the same chrome-and-gilt style as the frame, so nothing on screen looks like filler.
Wild Multipliers
Wilds substitute for every symbol except other Wilds, and each type has its own job. The biggest fixed numbers on the machine belong to the Wild lines:
- 1x Wild – reels 1 and 3, can stack, multiplies line wins 1x
- 2x Wild – reel 2, can stack, doubles any line win it sits on
- 3x Wild – reel 2, can stack, triples any line win it sits on
- 2x and 3x Wilds stack together on reel 2 as 2x, 3x, 2x
- Three Wilds including a 2x Wild – 500x the bet
- Three Wilds including a 3x Wild – 1,000x the bet
Because 2x and 3x Wilds only appear on the middle reel, the whole game tilts towards that single column. A stacked reel two turns every 1x Wild either side of it into a multiplied line. The Wild work is what stops the three-reel format from feeling thin.
Blackout
Stack Wilds across all three reels and the screen blacks out. Every one of the nine lines pays at once at the current bet, which makes the Blackout the largest fixed award in the game. It’s rare by design, and nothing about the base game softens the wait for it.
Autoplay and Quickspin
Autoplay is available in the base game only and plays at the last bet value, so set your stake before starting a session. Triggering any feature stops it. The session controls are:
- Spins – sets the number of spins for the session
- Win Limit – ends the session if a single win reaches the amount
- Loss Limit – ends the session if the balance drops by the amount
- Until stop – plays until you select stop
Quickspin resolves the reels faster for anyone who finds the base game’s pace slow, and it doesn’t influence results. Stopping a spin manually doesn’t either. Neither setting changes what the machine pays; they only change how quickly you see it.
American Triple Double Gold Bonus Features & Jackpots
Jackpot Pick Game
The jackpot sits on top of everything else. Every Wild that lands on a payline is collected, and on each spin any collected Wild can set the pick game off. The collection pot on screen is purely for visual entertainment and doesn’t influence the award, so there’s no meter to work down and no threshold to reach.
Once triggered, twelve face-down items appear, each tied to one of four jackpots:
- Grand
- Major
- Minor
- Mini
The round runs in four steps:
- Select an item to reveal its associated jackpot
- Keep selecting until three matching items are uncovered
- The matching jackpot is awarded
- The feature ends
An Auto Pick option runs the selections randomly without player interaction and can be stopped at any time. Jackpot prizes are scaled by the total bet, so the on-screen ladder restamps itself whenever your stake changes: raise the bet and every tier rises with it, lower it and they all fall.
Those four tiers are the only prizes that move independently of the fixed paytable. Everything else this game can pay is printed on it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Playing this is mostly watching three reels and waiting for the middle one to load up. That’s the whole appeal, and it’s a stronger one than it sounds: when reel two stacks its multipliers, every line on the machine changes value at once, and there’s a jackpot chase ticking underneath for good measure. All that gilt and marble turns out to be a fitting frame for a game built entirely around one column.
The strength is that the Wild system gives a tiny grid real range. The weakness is everything else: the regular symbols barely pay, and long stretches return nothing at all. That’s the cost of concentrating the money in one place, and this game doesn’t soften it.
It’s for players who like classic three-reel play but want a proper prize ceiling and a bit of modern menace in the middle reel. Anyone who wants regular small wins to keep a session moving will find it a grind. For the patient type chasing one big stacked moment, the temple doors are open.
