12 Fortune Dragons Slot Review
A golden dragon coils over the top of a pagoda-shaped reel frame, whiskers trailing above the reels, lacquer-red walls patterned with cloud motifs behind everything. Beneath all that gilt, 12 Fortune Dragons from Circular Arrow is a patient game: nearly everything it pays flows through meters you fill slowly, spin by spin, and the base game is mostly fuel for the climb.
It runs on a 5×3 grid with 20 paylines, at 96.00% RTP with high volatility and a hit frequency of 33.4%. Stakes run from 0.20 to 80.00. The win ceiling is the free spins ladder, which tops out at a 3,000x cash prize. Its sibling 12 Fortune Dragons Drum Frenzy, covered here in 2026, ran the same collect-and-climb DNA, and this one tightens it into a leaner shape.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right across 20 fixed paylines, and only the highest combination on a line counts. The total payout for a spin is the sum of all payline wins plus any scatter wins. The bet multiplier is 10, so payouts are calculated against the initial bet divided across the lines played.
It’s a conventional setup, and the base game doesn’t bend it. What it does instead is run two collection systems in the background, and both of them pay off outside the base game. That’s where the interest sits.
Wild Symbols
Wilds substitute for everything except Epic Strike, Free Spin, Extra Spin and Collect symbols, completing line wins the usual way. The twist is that every Wild that lands is also collected in the background, and those collected Wilds can randomly trigger the Epic Strike Bonus.
The collection pots on screen are just for show, though; they don’t influence anything. The collection itself is real, and it’s the first of the game’s two meters.
Epic Strike
Epic Strike is a scatter, and three or more anywhere on the reels pays out. Only the highest win per combination is awarded, and Wilds can’t stand in for it. It appears in the base game only, and the symbol itself never shows up during free spins.
The prize ladder runs from 1x to 3,000x the total bet depending on how many scatters land. Collected Wilds open a second route: they can trigger the Epic Strike Bonus, which awards a random cash prize of 5x to 3,000x, or free spins.
Free spins can be triggered from inside that bonus too. So the scatter route and the Wild route both eventually feed the same feature set, which keeps a scatter-hunt and a Wild-hunt worth watching in equal measure.
Rising Rewards Multiplier
Every pair of Free Spin symbols on reels 2 and 3 during the base game bumps the Free Spins Multiplier up by x1, to a maximum of 10x. It’s shown in a meter beside the reels. The meter doesn’t increase during free spins itself, and it applies to line wins when the feature runs.
After the round ends it resets to 1x, though it can randomly restart at 2x, 3x or 4x instead. Every spin of the base game is quietly feeding that meter, which gives otherwise dead spins a small job to do.
12 Fortune Dragons Free Spins & Bonus Features
Three Free Spin symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 trigger the Free Spins Bonus and award three free spins at Bonus Level 1. That number, three, is the whole engine of the round: spins reset to three every time you climb a level, and the round ends when the counter runs out or the top level is reached.
Bonus Levels and the Collect Ladder
During the round, Collect symbols land on the reels, and gathering the required number advances you a level. Each level-up expands the reels by one row, taking the grid from 20 paylines up to 48 at the top, and resets the spin counter to three. The ladder works like this:
- Level 1: awards a 4x cash prize
- Level 2: 5 Collect symbols, awards 5x
- Level 3: 10 more Collects, awards 15x
- Level 4: 15 more Collects, awards 25x
- Level 5: 20 more Collects, awards 50x
- Level 6: 25 more Collects, awards 100x
- Level 7: 35 more Collects, awards 250x
- Level 8: 55 more Collects, awards 1 000x
- 70 further Collects at Level 8: awards 3,000x
The counter resets after each level-up, and surplus Collects don’t carry over, so every level demands its full quota from scratch. One cash prize is awarded per round, at the level you’ve reached when the spins run out. Bets during the feature match the spin that triggered it.
There’s no scatter retrigger in the usual sense, because Free Spin symbols don’t appear inside the round. Extra Spin symbols do, but only on reel 5, and each one adds a single spin to the counter. That’s the only way a round stretches besides levelling up, and every extra spin is another chance to land the Collects the next level needs.
Epic Strike symbols don’t appear during free spins either, so the round is purely about Collects, the growing grid and staying alive on the reset counter. When the spins run out, the cash prize at your current level is paid and the round closes.
Bonus Buy
The Bonus Buy purchases the Free Spins Bonus outright, with two options priced as multiples of the bet:
- 3 Free Spins starting with a 1x multiplier: 50x the bet
- 3 Free Spins starting with a 10x multiplier: 150x the bet
Spins are played at the current bet, and the Rising Rewards Multiplier doesn’t reset when you buy in; it returns to its accrued level afterwards. The buy may not be available above certain bet thresholds or in all regions. RTP with the Bonus Buy enabled stays at 96.00%.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Playing 12 Fortune Dragons is a long apprenticeship to one bonus round. The reels look magnificent doing it, and the twin meters give every base spin a small purpose, but you’re here because the free spins ladder exists and you want to climb it. Nothing else on the screen pays like it.
The climb itself is the best part, because the reset counter keeps a round alive on momentum rather than luck alone. The letdown is the payoff structure: a round pays once, at the level where it dies, so a run that stalls on the lower levels can outlast ten minutes and still leave with 15x. The top of the ladder is a real destination; most visits end two floors below it.
People who enjoy filling a meter and watching a grid grow will feel right at home under this dragon. Players who want their biggest wins to come from the reels in front of them, spin by spin, will find the long build a chore. The fortune here is real, but it’s saved for the patient.
