Fivefold the Gold

Fivefold the Gold Slot Review

A cauldron spills gold coins and cut gems beneath a chunky shamrock-trimmed reel frame, four clover badges hang overhead, and a leprechaun’s top hat perches on the red one. Fivefold the Gold hides its best game behind 350 spins of work. Most slots hand you everything at the door; this one keeps four free spins rounds, a 10x multiplier and its best wheel locked until you’ve earned them, which makes it a slot that gets better the longer you stay.

High Limit Studios built this one on a 5×3 grid with 25 fixed paylines, and it’s a high volatility game with a hit frequency of 23.44%. Betting sits between 0.25 and 40.00 a spin. It follows Fourfold The Gold and sits alongside Boomstick Bill 2 and Climb Time Mummy Cash Uncovered in the studio’s catalogue.

Base Game & Features

This is a five reel, three row slot with 25 fixed paylines. Wins run left to right from the first reel, and only the highest combination pays on each line. The total bet is the initial bet multiplied by five, and payline wins are based on that initial bet rather than the total.

Wilds appear on reels two, three, four and five, substituting for everything except the various scatters, boosters, Prize symbols, the Mega symbol and Trigger symbols. They can’t help build the collect features, only the payline wins.

Lucky Levels

Lucky Levels is the spine of the game. Cumulative base game spins climb a seven-step ladder, and each step switches something on. It’s a session-long structure: the game you’re playing at spin 350 is materially bigger than the one you started with.

• Level 1 (10 spins): the Magic Hat can appear in the base game and Multiplier Free Spins, adding Wilds or Prize symbols to reels two to four
• Level 2 (30 spins): the Wheel Multiplier Booster symbol can appear in the base game
• Level 3 (60 spins): Upgrade Free Spins scatters are added to reels two, three and four
• Level 4 (110 spins): Sticky Free Spins scatters are added
• Level 5 (170 spins): Repeat Win Free Spins scatters are added
• Level 6 (250 spins): a Minimum Win of 20x to 200x the total bet is guaranteed on all four free spins features
• Level 7 (350 spins): the Wheel Bonus upgrades to the Super Wheel Bonus

Express Collect

Trigger symbols land on reel one or reel five. Land at least one Trigger alongside Prize symbols on the other reels and the feature pays out the total of all displayed prize values, per Trigger symbol that landed. Prize symbols appear in the base game, Multiplier Free Spins and Sticky Free Spins.

The possible prize values are:

• 0.8x, 1.2x, 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x
• 10x, 12x, 20x, 40x, 50x
• 60x, 80x, 100x, 200x

Wheel Bonus

Prize symbols appearing without a Trigger symbol can randomly trigger the Wheel Bonus, in the base game only. A single spin of the wheel awards one prize:

• Mega: 5,000x bet
• Major: 500x bet
• Minor: 50x bet (multiplier up to 5x)
• Maxi: 10x bet (multiplier up to 8x)
• Mini: 5x bet (multiplier up to 10x)

From Lucky Level 2, the Wheel Multiplier Booster symbol adds +1x to the Minor, Maxi or Mini prize at random whenever it appears, and every multiplier resets to 1x after any bonus prize win. A Mega symbol can also appear in the base game, in one position on reel five only, and awards the 5,000x Mega prize every time it shows up.

Fivefold the Gold Bonus Features & Free Spins

Multiplier Free Spins

Three Multiplier Free Spins scatters on reels two, three and four award 10 free spins, retriggerable with three more. A meter above the reels carries an accumulating multiplier that builds in the base game, capped at 1.5x through Lucky Level 2 and rising to 10x at Lucky Level 7. It applies to Trigger symbols on reels one and five during the feature.

A Split Prize symbol appears in this feature only. If it lands on the same spin as one or two Trigger symbols, it splits into two to six identical Prize symbols of the same value. Booster symbols in the base game add 0.5x each to the meter, and a feature that ends on a 10x meter resets it to somewhere between 1x and 4x.

Upgrade Free Spins

Available from Lucky Level 3, three scatters award 10 spins on a special 18-position reel set where every position spins individually. Upgrade symbols build frames: Pink, then Green, then Gold, then Rainbow. Super Upgrade symbols lift two or three frames at once, and +1 Spin symbols add spins.

At the end, each frame pays out:

• Pink: 0.8x, 1.2x
• Green: 2x, 4x
• Gold: 6x, 8x
• Rainbow: 10x, 12x, 20x, 40x, 50x, 60x, 80x, 100x, 200x, 500x, MEGA

The number of starting Upgrade symbols comes from a meter that begins at 7 and builds with base game boosters, reaching a maximum of 25 at Lucky Level 7. The feature ends when the spins run out or every position holds a Rainbow frame.

Sticky Free Spins

Added at Lucky Level 4, this one begins with every position blank, each spinning individually. Only Trigger, Prize and Rising Prize symbols can land, and anything that lands holds for the rest of the feature. Trigger symbols are restricted to the second position on reels one and five.

Rising Prize symbols grow by a random 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.2x, 2x or 4x on every subsequent spin, and Express Collect can hit during the round. The spin count comes from a meter starting at 7 and topping out at 25, and the feature can’t be retriggered.

Repeat Win Free Spins

Unlocked at Lucky Level 5, this feature starts with three spins. If no Repeat Win symbol appears in those three, a further three spins are awarded once per feature. The Repeat Win symbol carries a prize value accumulated in the base game, and every one that lands pays that value and resets the counter to three.

The Repeat Win meter starts at 5x and builds by 5x per booster, with a ceiling of 50x at Lucky Level 7. A feature that ends on the maximum resets the meter to between 5x and 20x.

Super Wheel Bonus

Lucky Level 7 upgrades the Wheel Bonus. The standard wedges stay, and the wheel adds wedges for every free spins feature, each carrying a minimum win:

• 10x Multiplier Free Spins with a 200x minimum win; 5x with 100x; 3x with 60x
• Upgrade Free Spins with 25, 15 or 10 initial Upgrade symbols and minimums of 200x, 100x and 50x
• 25, 15 or 10 Sticky Free Spins with minimums of 200x, 100x and 50x
• 50x, 25x or 10x Repeat Win Free Spins with minimums of 200x, 100x and 40x

Bets and lines during any awarded feature match the triggering spin. The Minimum Win guarantee from Lucky Level 6 applies to all four free spins features independently of the wheel, starting at 20x and climbing to 200x as the corresponding meters build.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7.9/10

This is a game of compounding interest. You sit at the reels feeding boosters into meters that won’t pay off for another hundred spins, and the reason to do it is that spin 350 is a genuinely different, richer game than spin one – the cauldron at the bottom of the screen slowly filling up is closer to a progress bar than decoration.

The payoffs are worth the wait, too. Four free spins rounds that play nothing like each other, minimum win guarantees climbing to 200x, and a Super Wheel that can hand you the whole toolkit at once. The price is the front half: for your first 60 spins there’s barely anything here but payline wins and a capped multiplier, and in a high volatility game that stretch can hurt.

It suits players who like their session to accumulate, especially anyone who came to Fourfold The Gold for the build and stayed. If you want the full game from the first spin, this isn’t it – the gold here is buried, and only patient digging reaches it.
