Founded in 2022 by Anton Kuhlmann and Serena Petersen, the CEO and COO who previously built SpinPlay Games into one of the most respected independent studios on the Microgaming platform, AreaVegas was created from day one with a single, unapologetic mission: to bottle the energy of the Strip and bring it to players everywhere.

The SpinPlay connection is crucial context. The studio made history as the first independent brand to launch under Games Global following the transition of Microgaming’s Quickfire platform, debuting in April 2023 with Area Link Phoenix.

That debut did two things simultaneously: it introduced the studio’s proprietary Area Link mechanic to the market and it immediately put AreaVegas on the radar of operators and players worldwide.

Area Link works as an evolved take on the Hold and Win respin format. Fireball symbols land on the reels and link to corresponding eggs positioned above the grid, with the combination of collected fireballs determining a Phoenix Upgrade awarded at the end of the feature.

Upgrades can apply multipliers up to 5x, double the playing area, boost prize values across the grid, or add further modifiers, creating a layered progression system where no two bonus rounds play out identically.

The Rush Express mechanic arrived next and introduced an entirely different collect-and-pay system. Bell or Train symbols landing on the outer reels alongside Rush Express icons trigger a feature where cash prizes collect, multipliers of up to 10x apply, and fixed jackpots reach up to 5,000x.

Gold Rush Express used the mechanic in a gold mining theme and earned a nomination for Best iGaming Product at the European iGaming Excellence Awards in 2024. Cat’s Meow Rush Express brought a playful feline spin to the same system.

The Area Surge series introduced Cash Collect and Cash Upgrade features for instant prize collection and enhancement.

Area Blast, used in the fishing-themed Area Blast Double Bass, added a respin system where every new fish prize landing increments a growing multiplier applied to all collected values.
