Area Link Bank Blast Slot Review
Four piggy banks sit on a mountain of gold doing nothing until you feed them, and that passivity is the whole design. Area Link Bank Blast is a slot that barely bothers being one: the reels exist to deliver coins to the pigs above them, and the game only becomes interesting after they’ve been fed. Everything before that is line pays and waiting.
AreaVegas Games has built the round around which pigs get fed, and it changes shape accordingly. It’s a 5×3 game with 20 fixed paylines, running at 96.50% RTP with high volatility and a 28.70% hit frequency, with bets from 0.20 up to 50.00. If you’ve played Area Link Bank Boss or Area Link Bank Baron, you’ll know roughly what’s coming; the pigs are the difference.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a straightforward five-reel, three-row slot. Wins pay left to right across 20 fixed paylines, starting from the first reel. A payline is a pattern of adjacent positions running in a line across the reels, and a win needs matching symbols landing next to each other on one of those lines.
If multiple winning combinations land on a single payline, only the highest pays, and the same rule applies per symbol combination. The total payout is the sum of every line win from the spin. The total bet is the initial line bet multiplied by the cost of 20 paylines, so every spin covers the full board.
With a hit frequency of 28.70%, roughly three spins in ten connect with something, and for a high volatility game that means plenty of small change between the events that matter. Here’s what each symbol pays as a multiple of the line bet:
- Diamond: 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 5x for five
- Gold Bars and Cash: 0.25x for three, 0.5x for four, 2.5x for five
- Coin Stack and Green Ring: 0.25x for three, 0.5x for four, 2x for five
- Royals (A, K, Q, J, 10, 9): 0.1x for three, 0.25x for four, 1x for five
Dollar Sign symbols are wild, stacked on all reels, and substitute for everything except Coins. They can form their own winning combinations too. They only appear in the base game, which tells you where the slot’s real business happens.
Coin symbols are the other thing to watch for. One or more of them can set off the feature round at any time, and each Coin’s colour determines which piggy bank it feeds above the reels. Nothing else in the base game moves the needle; the line pays are thin, and the game doesn’t hide it.
Autoplay is available in the base game only, with configurable spin counts plus loss and single-win limits. Quickspin resolves spins faster without affecting the results, and pressing the spacebar starts or stops a spin. Stopping the reels early doesn’t influence a result either; the outcome is settled the moment the spin begins.
Area Link Bank Blast Bonus Features
The Area Link feature is the whole game. When one or more Coins appear, there’s a chance for Area Link to trigger, and the animation around it doesn’t influence that chance either way. Every Coin on the reels collects into the pig of its colour above them, and the combination of colours you’ve gathered decides which Piggy Bank Upgrades the round runs with. You then get three respins on a locked grid.
All Coins lock in place and stay locked for the duration. Every new Coin that lands resets the respins to three, so a round keeps extending as long as the coins keep coming. Each locked Coin carries a cash prize or one of the MINI, MINOR or MAJOR jackpots. Everything pays out at the end, and if you fill every position on the grid, the GRAND jackpot lands on top of the lot.
There’s no stated ceiling on any of it, so what a round can build towards depends entirely on which upgrades arrive, and that’s where the four pigs earn their keep.
Green Piggy Bank Upgrade
Green Coins collect instantly. When one lands, it sweeps up the value of every locked Gold Coin on the grid, and a fresh Gold Coin is created in its place afterwards. It’s a payout now and a placeholder for later, which keeps the board alive for the respins that follow.
Purple Piggy Bank Upgrade
This is the loudest of the four. A purple run awards a second, independent feature array, so you’re playing two locked grids at once. Each array runs its own respins and fills its own positions, and the round only ends when both are done. Two boards means two shots at the GRAND.
Red Piggy Bank Upgrade
The red pig multiplies. Every spin awards a random multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x, and each Gold Coin is multiplied once when it first locks into place. Coins already locked keep their value, so the multiplier rewards fresh arrivals rather than compounding the whole board.
Blue Piggy Bank Upgrade
Blue Coins spread money around. A Blue Coin’s value is added to a random number of Gold Coins on the grid, and a single Blue Coin can pay into the same Gold Coin more than once. Like Green, it finishes by leaving a new Gold Coin where it stood.
Multiple Upgrades At Once
More than one pig can arrive on the same base spin, and the round then plays with every upgrade that triggered together. Each pairing has its own defined interaction:
- Red plus Purple: the multiplier applies to all new Gold Coins on both arrays
- Red plus Green: the multiplier applies to the Gold Coin created after the Green collect
- Red plus Blue: the multiplier applies before the Blue Coin feature pays
- Green plus Purple: Green only collects within its own array
- Green plus Blue: all Blue features resolve before any Green collects
- Blue plus Purple: Blue only adds to Gold Coins within its own array
Because every collision has a defined outcome, a loaded round is something you can read while it plays. Two pigs is where the round gets interesting; three or more and the grid starts doing several jobs at once, with multipliers and double arrays stacking into the same respins.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.6/10
You spend most of a Bank Blast session feeding pigs and waiting, and the feeding is the reason to be here. That’s not a criticism, it’s the pitch: this is a game about one big round, and the pigs on their gold pile are what make that round worth waiting for. The line wins in between won’t carry anybody.
Its strength is that the round is genuinely learnable. Four upgrades with six defined pairings means a loaded board rewards knowing what Red and Purple do together, and few coin collectors offer that. Its weakness is the silence above the ladder: the game never names a ceiling, so you’re collecting towards a figure it won’t tell you, at high volatility, with a hit rate of 28.70%.
It’s a good fit for players who enjoy watching a grid fill and getting better at a mechanic, and a poor one for anyone who needs the spins themselves to pay their way. There’s real gold under these pigs if you’ve got the patience to keep feeding them.
