Area Build’R Leprechauns Super Spin Slot Review
Area Build’R Leprechauns Super Spin by AreaVegas Games puts its weight behind the extras rather than the reels alone. Everything here rests on how those mechanics link up together and deliver value when they trigger.
The maths sit at 96.47% RTP, with Medium-High volatility across 20 fixed paylines. Stakes run from 0.20 to 50.00 per spin.
AreaVegas Games has appeared before with Bass Rush Express, a mid-to-high volatility outing that scored a modest 6 when we reviewed it. This one is a busier machine altogether, layering four random or symbol-triggered features on top of a free spins round that comes in seven different flavours.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a 5 reel, 3 row video slot with 20 fixed paylines. Payline wins run left to right from the first reel, and only the highest winning combination is paid per symbol combination. If multiple winning combinations land on a single payline, again, only the highest counts.
Payouts are quoted as multiples of the initial bet:
- Leprechaun Hat – 1x for three, 2x for four, 5x for five
- Beer Mug – 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 4x for five
- Fiddle – 0.3x for three, 0.5x for four, 3x for five
- Harp – 0.3x for three, 0.5x for four, 3x for five
- A, K, Q – 0.2x for three, 0.4x for four, 2x for five
- J, 10, 9 – 0.1x for three, 0.3x for four, 1x for five
Rainbow symbols are Wild. They substitute for all symbols except the Coin, Wheel and Super Spin symbols, and they can form their own winning combinations on a payline. Wilds are stacked on all reels, but they appear in the base game only. Stacked Wild columns are where the base game’s biggest ordinary wins come from.
Random Feature Triggers
On any base game spin that doesn’t trigger the Area Build’R Free Spins, Wheel Feature or Super Spin Feature, collecting symbols can set off a random feature instead:
- Collecting Coin symbols can randomly trigger the Pick Feature
- Collecting Wheel symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 can randomly trigger the Wheel Feature
- Collecting Super Spin symbols on reel 5 can randomly trigger the Super Spin Feature
Only one random feature may trigger on a single spin, and the animation doesn’t influence triggering. That’s an unusually generous second route into the game’s headline features, and it stops the base game from being pure waiting.
Area Build’R Leprechauns Super Spin Bonus Features & Free Spins
Area Build’R Free Spins
The headline round triggers with 6 or more scattered Coin symbols and awards 8 free spins. During the feature, line pays aren’t awarded at all. Instead, a Vine Frame is added to the position of each triggering Coin, and frames are held for the duration of the feature.
Frames come in three levels: Vine, Gold and Rainbow. Coin symbols that land either add a new Vine frame or upgrade an existing one, with Vine upgrading to Gold and Gold to Rainbow. Coins landing on a position that already has a Rainbow frame are randomly moved to a position without one. Each +1 Spin symbol adds another free spin.
The round ends when no spins remain or every position holds a Rainbow frame. At that point, each frame reveals and awards a credit prize or the MINI, MINOR or MAJOR jackpot. Filling the board with Rainbow frames is the dream scenario, and it’s the reason the reels can grow to a height of 6 symbol positions in the Super variants.
Wheel Feature
Land 3 Wheel symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 and the Wheel Feature awards 1 spin. The wheel can stop on any of the following:
- MINI, MINOR or MAJOR jackpot
- Headstart Build’R Free Spins
- Multiplier Build’R Free Spins
- Multi-Build’R Free Spins
- Super Spin Feature
If free spins come up, they begin once the wheel has finished. It’s a gateway feature more than a destination: the jackpot slices pay directly, but the real value is the shortcut into an upgraded free spins round.
Super Spin Feature
The tougher trigger asks for 2 Wheel symbols on reels 1 and 3 plus 1 Super Spin symbol on reel 5. 1 spin of a juiced-up wheel follows, which can award:
- MINOR, MAJOR or GRAND jackpot
- Super Headstart Build’R Free Spins
- Super Multiplier Build’R Free Spins
- Super Multi-Build’R Free Spins
Every “Super” free spins variant plays with all reels at a height of 6 symbol positions, doubling the number of frameable positions compared with the standard 3-high versions. The GRAND jackpot is also on the menu here, which the ordinary Wheel Feature can’t reach.
The Build’R Variants
Three named variants modify the standard round, each awarding 8 spins and only reachable through the Wheel or Super Spin Feature:
- Headstart Build’R Free Spins – a random number of Coins are added to the reels before the round starts, seeding Vine frames or upgrading existing ones
- Multiplier Build’R Free Spins – a random number of positions receive a 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier, applied to the prizes those positions reveal at the end
- Multi-Build’R Free Spins – up to 3 Coin symbols can stack on a single position, concentrating value where frames already sit
Pick Feature
At the end of a base game spin that doesn’t result in the Wheel Feature, Super Spin Feature or Area Build’R Free Spins, collected Coins can randomly trigger the Pick Feature. Match three icons to win the MINI, MINOR, MAJOR or GRAND jackpot, or the Wheel Feature.
It can’t trigger from within free spins, and there’s an autoplay option for the picks that doesn’t influence the outcome. As a consolation prize on a spin that missed everything else, it’s a tidy piece of design.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.4/10
The deal on offer here is simple: give up meaningful reel wins in exchange for seven different ways into a board-building bonus. The game is honest about the price. A top line pay of 5x, and line pays switched off entirely during free spins, means the reels themselves are furniture. Everything rides on Coins, frames and the reveal at the end.
That deal suits a specific player: someone who enjoys watching a board fill up and prices the session against a jackpot ladder rather than a multiplier. If you want the spin itself to be the entertainment, this is the wrong machine, and no amount of random triggers will change that.
What it does worse than it does well is theme. The frame system is carefully built, with clean rules and a genuinely readable progression; the leprechaun dressing around it is generic to the point of anonymity. Take the deal knowingly and there’s a solid mechanic underneath, but AreaVegas designed a feature engine first and painted the Irish on afterwards.
