3 Patrick’s Pots: Hold the Spin Slot Review
Three fat ceramic pots sit in a row along the top of the reel frame, blue, red and green, their painted names arching across an Irish sky. Below them it’s St Patrick’s Day in the countryside, all rolling green hills and hazy blue distance. The pots aren’t decoration: each one holds a promise about what the bonus round will do, and which pot pays out depends on what lands in the trigger.
3 Patrick’s Pots: Hold the Spin is Gamzix‘s take on the hold-and-spin formula, running a 5×3 grid with 25 paylines at 96% RTP. It’s a busier engine than most games in this family, stacking a second set of reels, a gem-fed jackpot ladder and a closing multiplier on top of the standard respin round.
Base Game & Features
The base game runs on 25 fixed paylines, all of them active on every spin. Only the highest win per line is paid, and wins on multiple lines are added together. Payout values scale with the bet size, so the paytable shifts as you move up and down the stake ladder.
The Wild is a clover, and it substitutes for everything except the Coin and Scatter symbols. That’s the whole of its job in the base game: a standard stand-in, no extras attached.
The coins are where the game keeps its structure. Regular Coins carry cash values on their faces, and three special Coins each unlock a specific bonus feature. The combination of colours in a trigger decides what the bonus round contains, and multiple colours can fire together.
- Blue Coin – unlocks the Dual feature
- Green Coin – unlocks the Jackpot feature
- Red Coin – unlocks the Repeat feature
The Scatter is a gold Celtic-knot coin. Three of them award the free spins round, which comes with a twist on the Wild: during free spins the clover becomes a Wild Multiplier that doubles all wins on any payline it takes part in.
3 Patrick’s Pots: Hold the Spin Bonuses & Free Spins
The Bonus Game
Six or more Coin symbols, including at least one coloured Coin, start the Bonus Game. The triggering coins transfer across with their values attached, and the round opens on three respins. Coin prizes run from 1 to 9 times the bet, and nothing else gets a look in:
- Regular Coin symbols, carrying prizes of 1 to 9 times the bet
- Special Coins in Blue, Green and Red, carrying prizes and their feature roles
- Collect symbols, which gather prizes from the reels
Every empty position spins individually. Each time a Coin or Collect lands, the counter resets to three, which is what gives a hot round its momentum: fill the board and it keeps paying.
Collect symbols gather the prizes from all Coins on the reels, plus the values of any other Collect symbols. When several land together, wins are gathered from left to right and then from top to bottom. The round ends when the counter hits zero, and the total is added to whatever the triggering spin paid.
Dual Feature
A Blue Coin in the trigger adds a second 5×3 board, duplicating every Coin symbol from the first. Each board runs on its own spin counter and its own luck, and a Collect symbol only gathers prizes from the board it lands on.
In effect you’re playing two hold-and-spin rounds at once, and the two can end at different times. It’s the rarest of the three add-ons structurally, because it doesn’t add prizes itself – it adds places for prizes to land.
Jackpot Feature
A Green Coin in the trigger switches on the jackpot ladder. Coins that land carrying a gem feed the jackpot cell of the matching colour, and filling a cell pays out:
- Grand – 1,000 times the bet
- Major – 50 times the bet
- Minor – 20 times the bet
- Mini – 10 times the bet
After a payout the panel resets, so the same jackpot can be won again within a single Bonus Game. With Dual active too, gems arrive from both boards, which doubles the collection rate. A single round that fills a green cell twice has paid the Grand ladder twice over before the counter even runs out.
Repeat Feature
A Red Coin brings the closer. When the Bonus Game ends, a rainbow appears and Patrick slides down it holding a pot of coins, throwing handfuls onto your win. The multiplier starts at x1 and each handful adds 1, up to a maximum of x10.
That multiplier applies to everything the bonus paid, including jackpot prizes and anything won on the second board when Dual is running. It’s the feature that turns a decent round into a serious one.
Free Spins
Three Scatters award the free spins round, where the Wild clover doubles every payline win it takes part in. It’s a straightforward round: no elaborate build-ups, just multiplied line wins for as long as the spins last.
Two further routes into the Bonus Game exist – the Lucky Bonus Game and the Patrick’s Pots feature – either of which can start the respin round directly.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a hold-and-spin with more going on around the edges than most. The core round is familiar, but the coloured-coin trigger means no two bonuses are built the same, and chasing a Red Coin for the closing multiplier is a genuinely different ambition from chasing a Green one for the ladder. The jackpot reset is the sharpest idea here: a single round can pay the same prize twice, and with Dual feeding gems from two boards the ladder moves at double speed.
The base game is a corridor between bonuses, with a plain wild and a free spins round that does one thing. Grand Voyage: Hold the Spin had the same shape, and there the collector carried it. Here the carrying is done by the trigger itself, which is a better engine for variety but pays nothing until six coins arrive.
For anyone who likes the hold-and-spin format and wants a version with decisions baked into the trigger rather than bolted on afterwards, this is one of the more generous takes. The pots up top aren’t just painted crockery – each one is a different game waiting to happen.
