About Popiplay

Founded on 21 November 2022, Popiplay is a Scandinavian-rooted studio with its main operational base in Belgrade, Serbia. The company is led by CEO Denis Ristic and was founded by Nikola Teofilovic and Milan Sekulic, both of whom brought existing iGaming experience to the project.

For a games studio that hasn’t yet reached its fifth year, Popiplay has built momentum quickly — its headcount has grown to over 70 employees, which roughly mirrors the size of its game portfolio at time of writing.

The studio operates exclusively in slots, and its output is consistent. Popiplay targets approximately two releases per month, and while that pace doesn’t match the largest players in the space, it’s punchy for a studio of this age.

Its debut title was Dogmasons G.O.A.T., which drew early attention for its volatile gameplay and distinctive art style, setting a tone the studio has largely maintained.

Popiplay Game Catalogue

The games themselves from Popiplay lean heavily towards high volatility and generous max win potential.

RoxDogs, Detective Donut, and Tik Tak Toad currently sit at the top of the max win table at 30,000x, 25,000x, and 24,360x respectively.

Mechanically, the studio has developed proprietary tools including a Chance X Booster, which increases bet size in exchange for better bonus trigger rates — alongside a standard Bonus Buy feature.

Thematically, the catalogue covers a broad range: Egyptian mythology, crime-themed comics, and Japanese-inspired action all feature alongside more conventional fruit and animal slots.

On RTPs, Popiplay stands out from peers: the majority of its catalogue exceeds 96%, and at least 14 titles sit at 97% or higher — with Detective Donut, Cultist, and Trader’s Fortune leading the pack.

Only a handful of titles dip below 96%, making this one of the more player-friendly catalogues in terms of headline return figures among studios of its size.

Popiplay Licensing and Reach

The studio’s iGaming licensing sits under the Curaçao Gaming Control Board, which covers the bulk of its distribution.

Distribution has expanded steadily — partnerships with Slotegrator, SoftGamings, BlueOcean, BetConstruct, and REEVO have pushed Popiplay’s titles into a growing number of casino lobbies globally.

Over the years, Popiplay has been nominated a number of iGaming awards, including at the 2024 SlotCatalog Awards, SBC Awards, and the European iGaming Excellence Awards, without yet taking home a win.

That’s not unusual for a studio this young, and the nominations alone suggest the wider industry has started to take notice. Popiplay are definitely ones to watch.
