Rainbow Riches Pick ‘n’ Mix Slot Review
A black pot of gold sits beneath the reels with a rainbow arcing out of it and a dirt track winding off through the fields, and honestly, the picture is the least interesting thing on screen. Rainbow Riches Pick ‘n’ Mix is one of very few slots that trusts you with its own design: before you spin, you decide which of its five bonuses actually exist. Strip the artwork away and what’s left is a game about choice, which is a rarer pleasure than a leprechaun.
It comes from L&W/Barcrest, and it runs on a 5×3 grid with 20 paylines. The total expected return is 98%, though the base game gives 94% on stakes under 1.00 and 96% at 1.00 and above. Wins in a single game are capped at 250,000x.

Base Game & Features
The base game is a straightforward 20-liner. Line pay symbols must land on a played line, on consecutive reels from the far left, and only the highest win on each line is paid. Wins on all selected lines are added together, and every line win is multiplied by the stake per line.
Scatter wins are different. They pay anywhere in view, for any number of played lines, on top of line wins. The Rainbow Riches logo is the wild, substituting for all symbols except the five bonus scatters, and it’s also the top-paying symbol when it lines up:
- Rainbow Riches (wild): x100 for three, x400 for four, x500 for five
- A, K: x20 for three, rising to x100 for four and x400 for five
- Q, J, 10: x10, x20 and x200 respectively for three, four and five
One quirk softens the scatter system. If five of any single bonus scatter land at once, you don’t get the bonus at all. Instead, a flat 500x stake cash prize is paid in place of the trigger. It’s a tidy consolation for a near-impossible line-up of leprechauns or pots.

Before play begins, the Bonus Choice screen appears. You select between one and three bonuses from a collection of five, and the game you then play is shaped by that choice. Active bonuses are shown below the reels by their symbols, and any bonus you left out simply isn’t available for that game. A Bonus Reset button returns you to the selection screen before any spin.
- All active bonuses pay anywhere in view for three, four or five of the same symbol
- Bonus wins are paid in addition to line wins
- At least one bonus must be chosen to play
Premium Play
Premium Play is the game’s other big idea, available at stakes of 2.00, 5.00 or 10.00, and the higher the stake the better your chance of accessing it. It’s a mini reel set of three reels and a single win line, and matching three symbols on that line awards one of your selected bonuses or five Mega Spins.
The pay structure inside Premium Play is scaled up aggressively. Free Spins and Mega Spins play at three times the minimum stake per line, while the Pots of Gold, Road to Riches, Cash Crop and Magic Toadstool bonuses all pay their multipliers against 60 times the minimum stake per line.
Active bonuses can still trigger during Mega Spins, and the Premium Play Game itself returns 98%. In practice, it’s a shortcut to the features for players willing to pay for the access.
Rainbow Riches Pick ‘n’ Mix Bonuses & Free Spins

Four of the five bonuses have a supercharged tier, and the trigger is consistent across all of them: three scattered symbols for the standard version, four for the Super version.
- 3x Leprechaun triggers the Road to Riches Bonus; 4x triggers the Super version
- 3x Pot of Gold triggers the Pots of Gold Bonus; 4x triggers the Super version
- 3x Leprechaun with cart triggers the Cash Crop Bonus; 4x triggers the Super version
- 3x Toadstool triggers the Magic Toadstool Bonus; 4x triggers the Super version
- 3x Free Spins symbol triggers the Free Spins Bonus
Road to Riches Bonus
A step wheel decides your fate here. Each spin of the wheel moves the multiplier highlight along a path by the number that lands in the window, and the bonus ends when the wheel lands on collect or the final step is reached. Whatever multiplier you’re standing on at the end is multiplied by your stake and paid. The Super version simply puts bigger multipliers on the path.
Pots of Gold Bonus
Gold, silver and bronze pots spin around the screen, slow to a stop, and an arrow picks the winner. The pot it points to multiplies your stake by its value. In the Super version the bronze pot is removed, so only gold and silver spin.
Cash Crop Bonus
The most involved of the five. Fifty coins spin and land on blanks or multipliers, the survivors fade out one at a time adding their prizes to a win meter, and then a large coin flips: collect ends the round and banks the meter, go on advances you to another 50 coins at a higher multiplier band.
There are three levels, and the multipliers step up hard:
- Level 1 coin multipliers: x1
- Level 2 coin multipliers: x2
- Level 3 coin multipliers: x5 and x10
Wins in the second and third levels are added to previous level awards, and after Level 3 the bonus ends and the meter is paid. The Super Cash Crop Bonus guarantees a go on at the end of Level 1, so you never bank the smallest tier.

Magic Toadstool Bonus
A pick field of 24 toadstools with three picks. Each toadstool hides a multiplier, which pays against the stake per line used to trigger the bonus, or a fairy, which reveals three more mushrooms and keeps the picks coming. Prizes are cumulative, and if you run out of toadstools while picks remain, a final multiplier is applied to the whole win meter.
An extra pick can also arrive at random after your last selection, provided toadstools still remain. Four scatters trigger the Super version, a separate tier with the same pick structure.
Free Spins Bonus
The Free Spins symbol lands on reels 1, 3 and 5, stacked on reel 1, and the round scales with the trigger:
- 3x Free Spins symbol: 10 free spins, climbing to 20 for four symbols and 30 for five
An alternate reel set is used for the round, and the free spins symbol turns wild during it, substituting for everything. The standard wild substitutes for all symbols except the Free Spins symbol. Landing the symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 again adds more spins to the counter, so retriggers are built in. No other active bonuses can trigger while free spins are running.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Playing this feels less like pulling a lever and more like setting a table: you pick your bonuses, you settle in, and the meadow does its thing. The reason to choose it over plainer Irish slots is that the choice is genuinely yours, and it changes what each session can produce.
The strength is that the five bonuses aren’t five reskins of the same round. A wheel, a pot spin, a coin climb, a pick game and free spins really do play differently, so switching your selection changes the game rather than just its costume. The weakness is the return structure: stake under 1.00 and you’re getting 94%, which is poor value by any modern standard, and the 500x top symbol won’t scare anybody either.
This is for players who enjoy tinkering more than they enjoy chasing, and who’ll bet at 1.00 or above where the maths is kinder. Volatility hunters will find the pace too gentle. The rest of us can enjoy a slot that hands over the recipe and lets us do the mixing.
