Area Link Luck 4 Lucky Charms Slot Review
A green hillside, fat red toadstools in the grass, and a full double rainbow arcing over the reels – the Irish luck scenery here is painted thick and doesn’t apologise for it. The bet Area Link Luck 4 Lucky Charms makes is that the scenery is the only decoration it needs, because everything under the hood serves a single respin round. AreaVegas Games has built the whole game around that one feature, and it’s a bet that mostly pays off.
It runs on a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines, pays at 96.50% RTP, and sits in high volatility territory with a hit frequency of 28.7%. Area Link Ultimate Luck trod this same rainbow in 2026 with five charms where this one has four, each colour rewriting the respin round its own way.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a straightforward 5×3 with 20 fixed paylines, and wins pay left to right from the first reel. The total bet is built from an initial bet multiplied by the payline cost of 20, so every payline is in play on every spin. Stakes run from 0.20 to 50.00.
Payouts follow the usual hierarchy rules. The total payout is the sum of all payline wins from a spin, but if multiple winning combinations land on a single payline, only the highest one pays. Only the highest combination counts per symbol as well.
The paytable is stacked with Irish luck imagery, and it’s honest about being top-light. Here’s what each symbol pays as a multiple of your initial bet:
- Green Leprechaun Hat – 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 5x for five
- Green Shoe/Buckle, Harp – 0.25x for three, 0.5x for four, 2.5x for five
- Beer Mug, Mushroom – 0.25x for three, 0.5x for four, 2x for five
- A, K, Q, J, 10, 9 – 0.1x for three, 0.25x for four, 1x for five
Those are modest numbers. Five hats pays 5x, which tells you the line pays exist to keep the lights on while the real money sits in the feature. Below the hat, the drop is steep: five of either royal pays just 1x.
The Rainbow is the wild, substituting for everything except Coins, and it lands stacked. That’s the base game’s one genuine trick beyond the coins.
Coins are the other thing you’re watching for. One or more Coins landing gives the Area Link round a chance to fire, and each Coin collects into the Pot of its colour above the reels. The combination of Coins that collect when the feature fires determines which Lucky Charm Upgrades you get.
The animation of a coin drifting up to its Pot doesn’t influence triggering; the decision is made on the spin itself. Clover, rainbow and star coins all feed the same mechanism, each carrying its own colour’s upgrade.
Area Link Luck 4 Lucky Charms Bonus Features
Area Link is a hold-and-collect round built around Pots. Three respins are awarded, all Pot symbols lock in place, and every additional Pot symbol that lands resets the respins to three. Each Pot carries a cash prize or a jackpot.
All locked prizes pay at the end, and the round finishes when the respins run out or every position fills. Filling the entire board also awards the GRAND jackpot. That full-board fill is the round’s fixed destination, the one outcome every version of the feature is pushing towards.
The four charm upgrades are where the game earns its name, because each colour of triggering Coin changes the round in a different way:
- Green Charm – Green Pots appear and instantly collect the prize values on all locked Gold Pots; a Gold Pot is created in the Green Pot’s place afterwards
- Purple Charm – a second, independent Area Link array is awarded, so two grids fill at once
- Red Charm – every spin awards a random multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x, applied once to each Gold Pot when it first locks
- Blue Charm – Blue Pots add their value to a random number of Gold Pots, and a single Blue Pot can feed the same Gold Pot repeatedly before becoming a Gold Pot itself
The green charm is the safety net: whatever it collects is banked immediately, and the pot it leaves behind keeps collecting. The blue charm is the compounding one, since repeated feeds onto the same Gold Pot can stack a single target well past its face value.
The red charm is the simplest and possibly the sharpest. A 5x multiplier landing on the right Pot at the right moment does more work than most of the other mechanics combined.
Charms stack, too. Red with Purple applies the multiplier to new Gold Pots on both reel sets. Red with Green applies it to the Gold Pot created after the Green collect. Red with Blue applies the multiplier before the Blue feature resolves.
The green and blue interactions are just as specific. Green with Purple only collects values within its own reel set, and Blue with Purple only adds to Gold Pots within its own array.
Green with Blue resolves all Blue features before any Green Pot collects, which matters: the Green collect sweeps up whatever the Blue feeds have built. It’s a rulebook you can actually learn, which is rarer in coin collectors than it should be.
The GRAND jackpot is the only fixed point, and everything below it stays a mystery until the round resolves and the locked prizes pay out.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Sitting down at this rainbow is really sitting down to one round. The base game is small line pays and coins drifting up into their pots, and nothing about it pretends otherwise. What buys your patience is a loaded feature, several charms at once on a full board – that’s the whole reason to be here rather than on any other green hillside.
The charm rules are the best part of the game. Because every pairing resolves a defined way, a stacked round is something you can read and genuinely get better at, which most coin collectors never offer. The other side of it is the money: you collect towards a figure the game never names, and the line pays are far too thin to hold a session together on their own.
This one belongs to players who enjoy watching a grid fill and learning a mechanic inside out, and high volatility means the waits run long. Players who need the spins themselves to pay won’t find it under this rainbow. The patient ones will.
