Area Link Luck Slot Review
Under a pale rainbow arching over a sunlit Irish meadow, gold coins sit half-buried in the grass between toadstools and old tree stumps, and two gnarled trees fold the whole scene in. Area Link Luck doesn’t pay for any of that scenery. Almost every penny this game will ever hand you arrives inside a single coin-collecting round, and the line slot wrapped around it is little more than a wait for the next one.
AreaVegas Games builds it on a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines, running at 96.45% RTP with medium volatility and stakes from 0.20 to 50.00 per spin. It plays the same charm-pairing game as Area Link Luck 4 Lucky Charms, but at a gentler volatility than that one or Area Link Bank Blast. The hillside is familiar; the pacing isn’t.
Base Game & Features
The base game is straightforward line-slot business. Wins pay left to right across 20 fixed paylines, starting from the first reel, and where multiple winning combinations land on a single payline only the highest one counts. The total payout for a spin is the sum of every payline win on it, and only the highest winning combination is awarded per symbol combination.
Betting runs on a simple split. Each spin costs a total bet, which is built from an initial bet multiplied by the cost of the 20 paylines played – so the initial bet is the total divided by 20. Payline wins are paid against that initial bet, and the paytable scales with whatever bet is currently set.
Rainbow symbols are the wild. They’re stacked on all reels, appear in the base game only, and substitute for everything except the Coin symbols – they can also form winning combinations of their own. Coins are the ones that matter, though: whenever one or more of them appear, there’s a chance the Area Link feature fires, and the mix of Coins that collect decides which Lucky Charm Upgrades come with it.
The reel set keeps a few standard conveniences on hand. Autoplay runs in the base game only, at the current bet, and can be set to stop after a chosen number of spins, a loss limit or a single-win limit. Quickspin resolves spins faster without touching the results, and clicking or tapping the reels stops a spin early – again with no effect on the outcome.
Paytable
All values below are multiples of the total bet for three, four and five matching symbols on a payline.
- Green Hat: 0.5x / 1x / 5x
- Green Shoe: 0.25x / 0.5x / 2.5x
- Harp: 0.25x / 0.5x / 2.5x
- Beer Mug: 0.25x / 0.5x / 2x
- Mushroom: 0.25x / 0.5x / 2x
- A, K, Q, J, 10, 9: 0.1x / 0.25x / 1x
That’s a thin ladder from top to bottom. The line game exists to keep the reels ticking over between Coin appearances, and nothing about it suggests otherwise.
Area Link Luck Bonus Features & Free Spins
The Area Link Feature
When the feature triggers, Gold Pot symbols lock in place on the feature array and three respins are awarded. Every additional Gold Pot that lands locks too and resets the remaining respins back to three. The feature ends when the respins run out or every position is filled.
Each Pot carries a cash prize or a MINI, MINOR or MAJOR jackpot, with prize values based on the total bet. All locked prizes pay out at the end of the round rather than as they land, and filling every position on the array awards the GRAND jackpot on top. The bet multiplier stays the same as the spin that triggered the feature, and the trigger animation plays no part in whether it fires.
Red Lucky Charm Upgrade
The Red Coin brings the multipliers. Every spin in the feature awards a random 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier, and each Gold Pot is multiplied once, at the moment it first locks into place. The multiplier is rolled per spin, so a pot locking on a lucky spin keeps whatever that spin awarded – it doesn’t get rerolled later.
That single multiplication is the whole of the upgrade’s arithmetic. A pot that locks at 5x stays at 5x for the rest of the round, however many times the respins reset around it, and pots that locked before the round’s later spins keep their original multiplier untouched.
Purple Lucky Charm Upgrade
The Purple Coin adds a second feature array, each set carrying its own three respins. The two arrays play out independently of each other, and the feature only ends once each one has either filled its positions or spent its respins. One board can finish while the other is still filling, and a full array on either side still pays its GRAND.
Two boards running at once is where the round’s potential doubles, because the prizes don’t share – each array locks and pays its own Gold Pots, and the round’s total is simply both boards’ totals added together.
Green Lucky Charm Upgrade
The Green Coin brings the Green Pots. When one lands it instantly collects the prize values on all locked Gold Pots – cash and jackpots alike – and once that collection is done, a fresh Gold Pot is created in its place. In effect it sweeps the board and then keeps the game going, with the new pot free to lock, reset the respins, and build again.
Multiple Lucky Charm Upgrades
More than one charm can arrive on a single base spin, and the feature plays with all of them at once. The pairings resolve by fixed rules:
- Red with Purple: the multiplier applies to all new Gold Pots on both arrays
- Red with Green: the multiplier applies to the Gold Pot created after the Green Pot collects
- Green with Purple: the Green Pot only collects values within its own array
Because every combination resolves a defined way, a stacked board is readable rather than random – which charms landed, and in which array, tells you exactly what’s about to happen to the money on screen. The best rounds are the ones that stack, and knowing the pairings is what makes them worth watching closely.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Sitting down at this rainbow is really sitting down to one round. The spins in between are small line pays and Coins drifting into position, and the reason to be here is a loaded feature board with several charms on it at once. Under the meadow’s calm green surface, that’s the whole session.
The charm rules are the best part of the game. Every pairing resolves a defined way, so a stacked round is something you can genuinely get better at reading, and few coin collectors offer that. What counts against it is the money: you collect towards a figure the game never names, and the line pays are far too thin to hold a session together on their own.
This one belongs to players who enjoy watching a grid fill and learning a mechanic inside out, and medium volatility keeps the waits gentler than the family’s usual fare. It isn’t for anyone who needs the spins themselves to pay. The patient ones will find their gold under this rainbow.
