Ancient Fortunes Minotaur Rising Slot Review
A minotaur in a red cape guards a marble temple on a sunset clifftop, urns balanced along the frame, and Ancient Fortunes Minotaur Rising is exactly as interested in patience as that picture suggests. Almost nothing this game pays sits in the reels themselves: the real money hides inside a respin round that grows the grid as it runs, while five climbing jackpots keep the spins between features from feeling like dead air.
It’s a bold way to treat a mythology licence. Triple Edge Studios have built it on a 5×4 grid with 1,125 ways, running at 96.20% RTP with high volatility and a 10,000x cap inside the feature. It sits in the same catalogue as Ancient Fortunes Zeus Gold Blitz Lightning and Rising Rewards, and fans of that lineage will recognise the instincts here. The question is whether the maze is worth entering.
Base Game & Features
The base game runs on five reels and four rows with 1,125 ways to win, paying both left to right and right to left from the first and last reel respectively. Wins need matching symbols on adjacent reels along a way. Only the highest combination pays per way, and the total win is the sum of every winning way on the spin.
Way wins are multiplied by a bet multiplier equal to the total bet divided by ten, and payouts are based on the initial bet placed. If several winning combinations land on a single way, only the highest one counts. It’s a two-directional setup that effectively doubles the routes a five-of-a-kind can take.
Wilds appear on reels two, three and four, can land stacked, and substitute for everything except Scatters and Jackpot Trigger tokens. They carry no payout of their own. Scatters sit on the same three reels and also pay nothing directly: their job is to open the feature door.
The paytable is modest at the top and drops off quickly, which is standard shape for a game carrying a 10,000x feature cap:
- Gold Lion/Beast: 1x, 2x, 4x for three, four, five
- Red Helmet/Warrior: 0.7x, 1x, 2x
- Blue Mask: 0.5x, 0.7x, 1x
- Green Head/Statue: 0.3x, 0.5x, 0.7x
- A, K, Q, J: 0.2x for three, 0.3x for four
Rising Rewards Jackpots
Five jackpots sit above the reels, one per reel, and each grows as Jackpot Trigger tokens land on its reel. Reels one and five add 0.4x the bet to their jackpot per spin with a token; the three middle reels add 1x each. When a jackpot’s Must Hit By value is reached, it pays out instantly.
Once paid, that jackpot resets to its starting value and begins climbing again, so the ladder never sits still for long. The odds of a jackpot paying shift as its value climbs, and the values scale with your bet, so raising stakes raises both the jackpots and their Must Hit By targets together.
Only tokens collected on the current spin count towards a trigger, so there’s nothing to bank between spins. The collection pot in the game is purely visual and doesn’t influence awarding anything. If the jackpot feature and the respin feature trigger on the same spin, the jackpots resolve first.
Ancient Fortunes Minotaur Rising Bonus Features & Free Spins
Three Scatters on reels two, three and four trigger the Ultra Link&Win feature. It opens on the same 5×4 grid with three respins and three Cash symbols already in place. Every unheld position respins individually, and any new feature symbol that lands resets the respin count to three.
The round ends when the respins run out or every position in the active area is held. Only Ultra Link&Win symbols and blanks appear during the feature, and only symbols sitting in the active play area can be awarded. Cash, Collect, Persistent Collect and Countdown symbols hold in place on both active and inactive rows until the grid unlocks them.
Cash symbols carry values from 0.5x to 10x the bet. The grid can grow to five reels by eight rows as Unlock symbols land and open new rows. Four other symbol types do the heavy lifting:
- Collect: gathers every value in the active area for that spin
- Persistent Collect: gathers every value on every remaining spin, accumulating as it goes
- Countdown: starts at 8 and ticks down one per spin, paying 4x to 195x the bet when it hits zero
- Unlock: opens the next row and then clears away
There’s an order of operations worth knowing: every other symbol in the active area is awarded before the Persistent Collect itself is collected, so its displayed running total stays honest to what it has gathered.
The round is capped at 10,000x the bet, and it ends the moment the cap is reached, with anything beyond the limit lost. That cap is the game’s top-end figure. All bets inside the feature match the spin that triggered it.
Feature Buy
Three buy options trigger Ultra Link&Win directly from the base game, and all of them run at the same 96.20% RTP as a natural trigger:
- Original: three respins with three Cash symbols guaranteed
- Unleashed: three respins with two Cash symbols and at least one Persistent Collect, and Countdown symbols pay 4x to 235x in this version
- Random: three respins with a coin-flip start of either the Original or Unleashed setup
The buy menu can disappear above certain bet thresholds and isn’t offered in every region. Of the three, Unleashed is the interesting one: guaranteeing a Persistent Collect from spin one turns the round into a running total rather than a series of one-off grabs.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Playing this one is a waiting game, and the minotaur makes no secret of it. Somebody chooses it for the respin round: a grid that widens while the money keeps landing, held together by a meter that never resets. That, plus five jackpots ticking upward on every spin, is the whole reason to walk into this maze.
The strength is Ultra Link&Win itself. A Persistent Collect that runs for the entire round turns a familiar hold-and-respin copy into something with a story, because the last spin can gather everything the round has built. The weakness is everything around it: five of the best symbol pays 4x, so the reels between triggers are furniture.
It suits players who like watching numbers climb and will sit through quiet spins to reach a feature with room to build. Anyone who wants the base game itself to pay its way will find the temple doors mostly shut. For the patient, though, there’s treasure at the centre.
