Book of Oz Magic 5 POWER COMBO Slot Review
A conjurer in a green brocade suit stands at the edge of a twilight forest, hand raised over a glowing ring, the Emerald City’s spires lit behind the reels and a yellow brick road curving off through grass studded with emeralds and poppies. Book of Oz Magic 5 POWER COMBO is a Book slot that doesn’t finish building itself until you’ve played a hundred spins, and that’s either its best idea or its most annoying, depending on how you feel about waiting. Most games in this family hand you everything up front; this one holds a quarter of the mechanics behind a countdown and dares you to stick around for them. Triple Edge Studios have gone patient with the series, and it sits alongside Book of Oz and Legacy of Oz in their catalogue.
The numbers: 96.06% RTP, medium volatility, a 5×3 grid on 10 paylines that can grow to 5×8 and 35 lines, and stakes from 0.20 to 50.00 a spin. Wins land on 22.33% of spins.
Base Game & Features
This is a 5×3 video slot with variable reels and 10 paylines to begin with. Wins pay left to right from the first reel, and where several winning combinations land on a single payline, only the highest one counts. The bet multiplier is 10.
Wilds substitute for everything except expanded symbols and the Magic 5 POWER COMBO symbols, a standard Book-slot arrangement carried over from the earlier games.
The symbols at the top of the paytable, paid as multiples of the initial bet:
- Lion: 1x for two, 3x for three, 8x for four, 10x for five
- Purple Potion: 1x for two, 2x for three, 5x for four, 8x for five
- Red Heart: 0.6x for two, 1x for three, 3x for four, 5x for five
- A: 0.6x for three, 2x for four, 3x for five
The Magic 5 POWER COMBO System
The heart of the game is a set of five features that unlock one at a time as you play. Once a feature is unlocked it stays unlocked for the session, and bet changes don’t affect your progress.
Unlocked features activate at random, individually or together, and the probability of activation shifts as more of them come online.
- Multiplier Feature: unlocked from the very first spin
- Jackpot Feature: unlocks after 5 spins
- Cash Feature: unlocks after 35 spins
- More Magic Feature: unlocks after 60 spins
- Reel Grow Feature: unlocks after 100 spins
One wrinkle worth knowing: if a Magic 5 POWER COMBO feature activates on a base game spin, Free Spins can’t trigger on that same spin. The two routes to the bonus don’t overlap.
Multiplier Feature
Live from spin one, this counts down base game spins towards a multiplier increase. The accumulated multiplier is applied to payouts from expanded symbols in Free Spins.
- Multiplier starts at 1x and increases by 0.5x each time the countdown reaches zero, up to a ceiling of 10x
- The multiplier and its countdown reset upon return to the base game
It’s the game’s long memory, and it’s the reason a longer session here isn’t just more spins.
Cash Feature
Once unlocked, the Cash Feature can drop coins onto the reels in the base game and in Free Spins:
- Coins award cash prizes of 0.5x to 10x the bet
- Prizes can land randomly on any spin
- Guaranteed in the base game when its countdown reaches zero
More Magic Feature
This one adds extra wilds to base game spins once unlocked. In Free Spins it can award up to two extra spins on every single spin, which is its most useful job by some distance. Like the Cash Feature, it’s guaranteed in the base game when its countdown runs out.
Reel Grow Feature
The structural change. When this activates, the reels expand up to 5×8, adding five paylines per extra row for a maximum of 35 lines. In the base game the reels reset after every spin, so it’s a one-spin spectacle there.
In Free Spins, growth persists for the whole round and can keep climbing with each free spin. Getting this one online before a bonus is the difference between a 10-line round and a 35-line one.
Book of Oz Magic 5 POWER COMBO Free Spins & Jackpots
Collecting Magic 5 POWER COMBO symbols can randomly trigger 10 free spins. Free Spins always trigger with the Multiplier Feature active, and any number of your other unlocked features can come along too. Features that activate inside the round start working on the next spin.
On entry, a Special symbol is randomly awarded, which can be anything except a wild or a Magic 5 POWER COMBO symbol. Special symbols expand, and expanded symbols pay anywhere on a line. Bets stay at the level of the triggering spin.
Jackpot Feature
Three jackpots, Mega, Minor and Mini, sit in jewelled plaques across the top of the screen. During Free Spins, jackpot tokens can appear over symbols and are collected on their respective meters.
Fill a meter and that jackpot is paid, the meter resets, and the same jackpot can be won again later in the round. Jackpot values scale with your bet, and no single spin can award the same jackpot twice.
The guarantee is the sharp part: trigger Free Spins with the Jackpot Feature active and at least one jackpot will hit during the round. No hoping, no near misses.
How the Round Fits Together
At full power, a free spins session runs on up to 35 paylines, an expanding special symbol paying anywhere on a line, a multiplier of up to 10x applied to those expanded wins, extra spins arriving in pairs, and a jackpot locked in.
Full power means surviving the base game long enough to unlock everything, and the top of the ladder is 100 spins away.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Playing this is a long walk towards a city you can already see glowing on the horizon. The first session is deliberately incomplete, the base game ticking its ladders upward between small cash drops, and the one reason to choose it over any other Book slot is that it remembers you: the game you leave is measurably better than the one you sat down at. The jackpot guarantee, when it’s active, is the sharpest piece of design here, because it deletes the flat bonus round entirely.
Against that, the early going is thin, and a bonus that arrives before the unlocks lands on ten lines with almost nothing riding shotgun. That’s the cost of the whole idea.
This is for players who enjoy the build as much as the payout, the sort who’ll happily grind out a session to see every feature running together. Anyone after instant gratification has plenty of leaner Book slots to choose from. Stick with it, though, and the road does lead somewhere worth the walk.
