Yggdrasil Gaming partner Jelly is one of the latest to take its more established counterpart’s renowned Gigablox feature for another outing, weaving it into one of the catchiest slot titles we’ve come across in a while in Beasty Blox Gigablox!

If Beasty Blox Gigablox’s bundle of features doesn’t go on to produce the desired level of stickiness with players, then, heck – maybe its name will. Will Beasty Blox Gigablox prove to be the stampeding ruckus of a game it promises? Time to take a closer inspection.

Beasty Blox Gigablox Base Game and Features

The Beasty in Beasty Blox Gigablox refers to a mean-looking clan of wild animals prowling the 6-reel 4-row gaming setup across 4,096 paylines. Fairly standard stuff. A glance at the paytabe reveals 9-A playing card ranks making up the lows, supplemented by a snake, crocodile, lion and gorilla serving as the premiums. The latter fetches wins worth 6x should if form a 6OAK combination.

Able to land on the three central reels at random is the skull wild, which steps in to cobble regular line wins together. Note that wilds can never form part of Gigablox wins.

As to features, headline act Gigablox is joined by Free Spins and Super Staxx. Let’s dive into the jungle to see how they all tie together.

Gigablox

Forming part of Yggdrasil’s proprietary GEM (Game Engagement Mechanics) offering designed to offer a fresh layer of excitement, Gigablox functions by landing in oversized blocks of matching symbols that can reach up to 4×4 in size.

When wins involving Gigablox are clocked, affected blocks are broken down into their respective singular symbols before a payout calculation. Better get used to seeing this oversized bad boy, as you’re assured of one Gigablox landing on every spin.

Beasty Blox Gigablox Free Spins

Catching 5 diamond scatters at once during a base game spin represents your pathway to Free Spins. Each triggering scatter is worth 1 or 2 Free Spins, with a minimum guaranteed starting haul of 6 spins.

Wild win multipliers worth either 2x or 3x come into play during the feature, multiplying one another when showing up simultaneously – a nice touch. Even better – wild multipliers remain active throughout Free Spins – meaning you don’t need to include them in wins in order to profit.

Super Staxx

Exclusive to the bonus round, Super Staxx stacks between 2 and 5 instances of a randomly selected regular symbol to help boost your returns further.

Beasty Blox Gigablox: Our Verdict

This is Jelly’s second go at adopting Yggdrasil’s Gigablox mechanic after its trial-run via June 2022 release Buffalo Blox Gigablox – another animal-centric game but with a distinctly Native American flavour.

Where the two differ mainly, apart from their headline acts and top payouts, are in their respective locations – Buffalo Blox whisking us to an idyllic American prairie for some Gigabloxing, while the follow-up gives off a more ominous note situated somewhere riverside with a skull and spear wedged into the scene for added menace.

Sadly, that attitude doesn’t quite follow through after hitting spin a few hundred times.

While it has its moments, Super Staxx in particular proving a valued addition, Beasty Blox Gigablox doesn’t roar as loud as many other Gigablox-powered titles, weakened further by a so-so max win of 5,000 times your stake, which, while double that of Buffalo Blox Gigablox, kinda feels restrained when you consider the full potency Gigablock can pack at full pelt. Beasty by name, less so by nature.

Like much of Jelly’s work, the visuals are well done – though they contribute nothing we’ve not seen a hundred times or more already. We haven’t mentioned the game’s rather lowly 95% RTP configuration, either – denting desirability further.

Beasty Blox Gigablox isn’t a bad game, per se – but feels one more destined for the slot scrap heap than front and centre casino lobby positioning.
