Beheaded Slot Review 2024

Beheaded from Nolimit City thrusts players into yet another exciting world…for us anyway – the characters in their slots aren’t so lucky. Nolimit City has incarcerated criminals in San Quentin, hung them from the gallows in Deadwood R.I.P and outright murdered them in Serial, and all for our benefit.

Aren’t we lucky? schadenfreude means to revel in the misfortune of others and here it is once more to wash over us in Beheaded, where we bear witness to the fate of a lone survivor stranded on a seemingly idyllic island. Paradise turns to peril as darkness falls on the island, with Tzantza the collector emerging from the shadows hungry for a new addition to his macabre trophy case.

Keep a cool head or risk losing it in a fight for survival and a tale of horror.

Progression Bar

Each winning combination to occur will be removed from the reel set, making room for new symbols to drop in from above, via a Cascade Feature.

After removal, each winning symbol is added to a special Progression Bar below the main reel set. There are 5 Levels of progression available, and any extra symbols will be carried over to the next level.

  • Level 1: Requires 15 winning symbols
  • Level 2: Requires 25 winning symbols
  • Level 3: Requires 50 winning symbols
  • Level 4: Requires 80 winning symbols
  • Level 5: Requires 110 winning symbols

Failing to hit additional winning symbols will result in the Progression Meter resetting with the next paid spin. Falling out of Wild, High, or Medium-paying symbols advances the Progression Bar. Each level reached converts all Medium-paying symbols into High-paying symbols.

  • Wilds: Awards +3 per winning symbol
  • High-paying Symbols: Award +2 per winning symbol
  • Medium-paying Symbols: Award +1 per winning symbol

Soul Wilds

During gameplay, there are 3 Soul Wilds present, each with individual Soul Collectors. These symbols collect all Souls from dropped High-paying symbols after a win. The Soul Wild feature activates in the following order:

  • Happy Soul Wild (Level 1) – Requires a total of 4 Souls to activate
  • Sad Soul Wild (Level 3) – Requires a total of 10 Souls to activate
  • Angry Soul Wild (Level 5) – Requires a total of 18 Souls to activate

Soul Wilds can only activate when no more Souls can be collected once its Collector has been filled. The number of active Soul Wilds determines the size of the Wild Zone; 1×1, 2×2, or 3×3, multiplying the general Multiplier by x1, x2, or x3 respectively. Scatters that land in the Wild Zone will award +1 Free Spin each. The Soul Collector will reset if it fails to collect enough Souls.

xBet

Before or after a game round, players can activate the xBet Feature for an additional 2x their current bet. Once active, players are 3 times more likely to trigger Tzantza Spins, starting at Level 1.

Conclusion

If people must lose their heads for our benefit, then so be it. The life of one ill-fated sailor in the name of entertainment is a small price to pay. The stakes are high in Beheaded, as is the entertainment value once more. Beheaded is another carefully curated piece of work, and the quality of their slots of late has been sublime, even if it does feel like they’ve speeded up production.

Beheaded works on more of a progression system, so it needs some momentum if the Tzantza collector is to brew brilliance. The way it plays probably won’t please all, but a one-fits-all doesn’t exist anyway. Fans of Nolimit City can appreciate the twists and turns even if it isn’t their favourite yet, and like others before it, Beheaded takes matters into its own hands with unique gameplay and nail-biting suspense. The Tzanta spins was our favourite, as will probably be the case for many as the top-level bonus. We were particularly fond of the Pick a Potion feature, which can be as rewarding as it is brutal. Risk it all for the max payout of 15,950x or lose it all? You decide, but proceed with caution.

Beheaded isn’t quite the showstopper that Kenneth Must Die or Deadwood RIP was, but it’s another thoroughly enjoyable build from Nolimit City, who are known for making waves that feel more like tsunamis
