Lucksome has done their fair share of game designing before partnering with Blueprint Gaming in 2021. Since their new partnership, Lucksome and Blueprint have been working together to deliver player-focused slots with innovative features. Way of the Tiger is their most recent slot, but you may be familiar with their older titles such as Divine Links and Joker Maxima.

In terms of design, Lucksome has pretty much nailed it. Although its not the first time we’ve endured a Voodoo theme, its fair to say that Voodoo Temple is one we won’t forget in a hurry. The background shows the inside of a Voodoo Shop with tons of Spellbooks, herbs and candles scattered around. If the background isn’t enough to give you goosebumps, then the spooky music should do the trick, where the whisperings of spirits can be heard.

Voodoo Temple is visually pleasing, but will the base game also deliver? Voodoo Temple has plenty to keep you going in the base game, with Shadow Mode, Multipliers and Multiplier Boost, along with a refreshing Free Spins round. Voodoo Temple isn’t looking too bad in the statistics department either, with a whopping 20,000x up for grabs!

Voodoo Temple Base Game and Features

Voodoo Temple is a 5 reel slot with 243 ways to win. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more (or 2 or more of the highest paying symbol) from left to right, starting from the left-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€200 per spin, with a choice of bets in between the two.

In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Voodoo Temple is the Glowing Head, followed by the Voodoo Doll, Cauldron, Animal Skull and Potion. Low paying symbols fall to a selection of coloured Stones. There is also a Priestess Wild present, which substitutes for all symbols except Scatters. Wilds will only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Lucksome may have chosen a cursed theme but thankfully the base game has not been hexed. In order to get anywhere near the maximum win capacity, will require the help of Shadow Mode, Multipliers and Multiplier Boost. More on these below.

Shadow Bet

Similar to what we’ve seen in many Pragmatic Play and iSoftBet titles, Lucksome has opted for a Shadow Bet feature. This can be activated and deactivated at any point during the base game.

Activating the Shadow Bet will increases your chances of triggering Shadow Mode, and therefore increases the RTP. By choosing to activate Shadow Bet, your current bet will increase by 20%.

Multipliers

To the right of the reel set, you will come across 3 Masks, each with their own Multiplier of x2, x3 and x5 attached to them. One of the Mask Multipliers will activate when 1, 2 or 3 Priestess Wilds land in view, which are then applied to all winning combinations for that spin.

Multiplier Boost

In additon to the Multipliers, Lucksome has thrown in a Multiplier Boost feature which can trigger randomly. In order to activate the Multiplier Boost feature, Priestess Wilds must be present on at least one of the reels.

The Multiplier Boost is not always guaranteed as the Priestess Wild can also trigger Shadow Mode, if not already active.

Shadow Mode

Shadow Mode can trigger randomly in either the base game of Free Spins round. Once active, Shadow Mode is played over several spins and has a higher RTP.

With every Shadow Spin, the current Mask Multipliers have the chance to increase and possibly decrease. If a Priestess Wild lands during Shadow Mode, the Mask Multipliers can increase even more.

Voodoo Temple Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round. Once triggered, you will be given a choice of 3 Free Spins options, these are as follows.

• Low Volatility – Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters will award 12, 15 and 20 Free Spins respectively. During this round, all wins are Multiplied by x2, x3, x5 or x6, depending on how many Priestess Wilds are present.
• Medium Volatility – Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters will award 9, 12 and 16 Free Spins respectively. During this round, all wins are Multiplied by x3, x4, x6 or x8, depending on how many Priestess Wilds are present.
• High Volatility (Shadow) – Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters will award 5, 8 or 12 Free Spins respectively. During this round, all wins are Multiplied by x2-x5, x3-x20 or x8-x50, depending on how many Priestess Wilds are present.

Like the base game, each time a Priestess Wild lands in view in the Low and Medium Volatility options, there is a chance of triggering either the Multiplier Boost or Shadow Mode, if Shadow Mode is not already active. Shadow Mode is always active during High Volatility mode. During Free Spins, Priestess Wilds can land Stacked.

Voodoo Temple: Our Verdict

The great thing about Lucksome is their random choice of themes, with no two ever being the same. Providers can become easily fixated on one specific theme that they know works well, and so its nice to see that Lucksome give their players a nice variety.

Voodoo Temple shows us yet again how creative Lucksome are with their slots, with a chilling background and hair-raising music entwined with vibrant colours and quality graphics. The design of Voodoo Temple is brilliant, but what did we think of gameplay?

Lucksome really do know what their players are looking for in a slot and they have certainly delivered in Voodoo Temple. Shadow Mode and Multiplier Boost are both great ways to help players to reach that glorious maximum win capacity, but when you really think about it, they both seem to do the same thing in our opinion. Another nice touch is the Shadow Bet feature, which works in a similar way to the Ante Bet feature in Pragmatic Play titles.

Looking at statistics, Lucksome are really spoiling us here with an above average RTP of 96.50% and an equally impressive maximum win capacity of 20,000x.

Overall, we think Lucksome is an underrated Provider with a lot to offer. If a bit of Voodoo magic is what you’re after then there’s no better place than Voodoo Temple.
