Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas Catch Slot Review 2024

The blizzard may be in full swing but that’s not going to stop us from going fishing in Pragmatic Play partner Reel Kingdom’s latest addition to their Big Bass series, Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas Catch!

Does it come as that much of a surprise that Reel Kingdom are expanding their Big Bass series once again? Not particularly, but we are interested to see what they’ve come up with this time round and if it will differ much from others in the series.

It’s not the first time Reel Kingdom has adapted one of their Big Bass titles to fit the upcoming holiday season in Christmas Big Bass Bonanza. Bigger Bass Blizzard certainly lives up to its title with an obvious drop in temperature, but other than an upbeat jingle in the soundtrack, we aren’t entirely sure where the Christmas part of the title fits into the equation.

Will the 7th Big Bass slot of the series be the charm, or is it time to pack up fishing for a while and find a new hobby? Let’s play on and find out!

Ante Bet

Before you can begin spinning, you will be given the choice to activate the Ante Bet feature. (RTP 96.08%).

Choosing to activate the Ante Bet will increase your current bet by 50%, but with that comes certain advantages. When the Ante Bet is active, your chances of landing the Free Spins round is naturally higher and more Scatters will be added to the reels.

The Bonus Buy feature will be disabled whilst the Ante Bet feature is active.

Fish Symbols

Fans of the Big Bass series will be all too familiar with the Fish symbols and how they work and it’s no different here, but for those of you who are new to the series, we will give you a quick breakdown.

Fish symbols appear in both the base game and Free Spins round with Cash Values of 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 25x, 50x and 4,000x your current bet attached to them.

During the base game, the Cash Values are mostly inactive unless you connect 5 Fish symbols in a payline which will award their total Cash Value amount.

Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas Catch: Free Spins

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters across the reels in any position triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10, 15 and 20 Free Spins respectively. If only 2 Scatters land, there is a chance that a Hook will appear and bring the 3rd Scatter needed onto the reels.

During Free Spins, Wild symbols will come into play and become a key part of the Free Spins round. Each time a Wild symbol lands in view, it will Collect any Cash Values from any present Fish symbols on the reels.

During this time, each Wild symbol that lands will also be collected and stored in a Meter above the reels. For every 4th Wild that is collected, you will be awarded an additional number of Free Spins and an increase in Multiplier.

  • 4 Wilds – Awards an additional +10 Free Spins and a x2 Multiplier.
  • 8 Wilds – Awards an additional +10 Free Spins and a x3 Multiplier.
  • 12 Wilds – Awards an additional +10 Free Spins and a x10 Multiplier.

Once the 3rd Retrigger is reached on the Meter, there is no other available retriggers for the duration of Free Spins.

Randomly during Free Spins, when 1 or 2 Wilds land in view minus any Fish symbols, there is a chance that Fish symbols can be added to the reels in random positions.

Also, can randomly appear at the end of a spin and pull the reels up to reveal either Wild or Fish Money symbols.

Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas Catch: Our Verdict

Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas Catch paints itself as a Christmas slot, but there’s little in the way of old Saint Nick, baubles, reindeers, baubles and cheer.

Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas Catch sees its tundra setting as enough to tie it to the festive season, but we’re not overly convinced that it’s all that merry. Still, gameplay could still save it as one of the top Christmas slots this year, but does it?

We’ve seen more than a few Big Bass Slots since its inception, but often they fail to deviate too much from the one before it. If you came expecting something innovative and new, then Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas Catch isn’t really it.

As a pro, it seems relatively easy to bonus as does others like it, but the cons that made the others frustrating are still present here. The Fisherman can seemingly disappear at crucial moments, like after you’ve reached the next level or when you just need one more to reach the next level.

When it comes to potential, the maximum here is 4,000x, which you certainly wouldn’t mind around Christmas time.

Overall, Bigger Bass Blizzard Christmas isn’t that noteable in the grand scheme of things, but it’s fine if you’re fond of fishing slots and want something ever so slightly festive too.
