Book of Hidden Tombs Slot Review
Egypt’s burial chambers have been prised open on slot reels so often that the genre came with its own furniture years ago: the pith-helmeted explorer, and a gilded book propped open where the scatter usually sits.
Book of Hidden Tombs is BGaming‘s turn with the shovel, and it doesn’t pretend otherwise. Does the world need another classic Egyptian Book slot? Probably not. This one still makes a case.
It’s a 5×3 grid with 10 fixed paylines and high volatility, and the RTP is 97.00%, well clear of the 96% most Book slots settle for. Max win is 10,000x, or €250,000 at the €25 stake ceiling, with bets starting at €0.10.
The studio’s catalogue runs wider than this corner of it. Clash of Gods: Anubis vs Hades takes the mythology route, while Mystic Reels keeps to traditional ground.
Licensed oddities like Snoop Dogg Dollars sit further out again. This is a familiar story, then, and the numbers on the cover are what make it worth another read.
Base Game & Features
Book of Hidden Tombs runs on five reels and three rows with 10 fixed paylines. There’s no ways-to-win arrangement, no cascade and no base game modifier, so what lands on a spin is what pays.
Presentation sticks to type. Pyramids and tomb walls fill the frame, the Book sits as the focal point of the symbol set, and the whole thing is instantly readable if you’ve played this style before.

The Book Symbol
The Book works as Wild and Scatter at the same time. It substitutes for any symbol to complete a winning line, and landing three or more of them anywhere on the reels triggers the Free Spins round.
There’s no second scatter and no separate bonus symbol, so a single icon carries both jobs. One Book on the reels is already live; two is the chase for the third.

Chance x2
Chance x2 is an optional side bet that slightly increases the total stake and doubles the chance of triggering Free Spins. It’s toggled on and off manually, and it changes nothing else about how the base game plays.
Book of Hidden Tombs Free Spins
Three or more Books award 10 free spins. Before the round starts, one symbol is picked at random to become the Golden Expanding symbol, which can be any symbol on the reels except the Scatter.
Land the required number of that symbol, two for some and three for others, and it expands to fill the whole reel. It then pays on all 10 lines regardless of where the symbols sit.
Three or more Books during the round retrigger another 10 spins, and the expanding symbol carries over.

Super Free Spins
Super Free Spins run the same expanding symbol format with a progressive multiplier attached. It starts at x1 and doubles every time a spin lands without a win.
When a win does land, the multiplier applies to it at its current value and the ladder resets from there. The ceiling is x512.

The Collector
The Collector sits above the reels and gathers Scatters. When it activates, it turns the Books that triggered the round into Golden ones, which upgrades the bonus from standard Free Spins to Super Free Spins.
The upgrade resolves before the first free spin is played, so you know which version of the round you’re going into.
Buy Bonus and Rebuy
Both rounds can be bought outright, with the next spin after purchase triggering the chosen bonus:
- Free Spins: 100x stake
- Super Free Spins: 200x stake
A Rebuy Bonus button appears on returning from a purchased round, which repeats the same purchase at the same price without going back through the buy menu.

Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
The base game is quiet work. Ten paylines, nothing in the way of modifiers, and a session spent watching for the third Book. Every one that lands matters, and that’s just about enough to carry the dead stretches.
Regular Free Spins gave us the best result of the session, off the back of a generous expanding symbol. Super Free Spins were the better watch. Dead spins doubling the multiplier inverts the usual arithmetic, and a losing spin turns into something you actively want.
That makes the buy screen an actual decision rather than a formality. Super costs twice the standard round, and one bought Super that never got the multiplier moving stung. For entertainment it justifies the price. For results, the standard round did more for us.
Book-slot regulars will find exactly what they came for here. Anyone who wants the base game to do something should keep digging elsewhere.
