Burning Riot

Base Game & Features

Burning Riot pays All Ways, so there are no fixed paylines to follow. Symbols just need to land on adjacent reels, wins are calculated left to right, and only the highest combination per way counts. Because every position on a reel counts towards a way rather than a designated line, the same spin can produce several separate winning combinations at once, each paid on its own merits.

The hit rate sits at 21.92%, so roughly one spin in five connects. On a high volatility game that’s a respectable rhythm, though the size of those wins is another matter entirely, and the paytable is where that story gets told.

The reels are populated by a band: a red-haired singer, a dreadlocked frontman, a white-haired vocalist, a shirtless guitarist and a tattooed performer make up the premium end, with hearts and diamonds below them and spades, clubs and a purple cross at the bottom of the ladder. Payouts are quoted for three, four, five and six matching symbols:

• Red-haired singer: 0.25x for three, 0.3x for four, 0.4x for five, 1x for six
• Dreadlocked frontman: 0.2x, 0.25x, 0.35x, 0.6x
• White-haired singer: 0.15x, 0.2x, 0.3x, 0.5x
• Shirtless guitarist: 0.15x, 0.2x, 0.25x, 0.4x
• Tattooed performer: 0.15x, 0.2x, 0.25x, 0.35x
• Heart, Diamond: 0.1x, 0.15x, 0.2x, 0.25x
• Spade, Club, purple cross: 0.05x, 0.1x, 0.15x, 0.2x

Two things stand out from that ladder. Six-of-a-kind pays jump sharply over five-of-a-kind, so the respin mechanic has a real target to build towards. And the low end is very flat, which means the small connecting wins that arrive between features do very little more than nudge the balance.

The gap between the tiers is worth a closer look. The red-haired singer doubles her own pay when a five-of-a-kind becomes a six, jumping from 0.4x to 1x, while the dreadlocked frontman climbs from 0.35x to 0.6x. At the bottom of the ladder the purple cross pays just 0.2x for a full six-reel run, so the low symbols are effectively filler: they connect often enough to keep the meter ticking, but they never carry a round on their own.

Sticky Respins

Any winning spin locks the winning symbols in place and awards a respin. Fresh symbols drop in around the sticky ones, and matching symbols that land extend the hold. The chain keeps going while new wins form, and it stops the moment a respin fails to add to the combination.

Run it step by step and the build is easy to picture. A three-reel win locks those three symbols and respins the remaining reels; a fourth matching symbol on the respin locks too and the remaining reels spin again; if the next respin adds nothing, everything releases and the total pays out. Each link in that chain is a free shot at extending a win you’ve already banked.

On an All Ways grid that loop is more interesting than it sounds on a fixed-line game. Every sticky symbol occupies a reel, so each respin isn’t just chasing more of the same icon: any adjacent-reel combination of any paying symbol can extend the round. A single spin can therefore build several times over, with different symbols locking at different points.

Sticky wins show up on the reels as highlighted matching columns, which makes the build easy to follow. Scatters appear as ticket symbols, and they don’t pay as symbols: their job is to feed the meter that drives the bonus round.

Wild Multipliers

The wild is a heart-shaped symbol that substitutes for any paying symbol and carries its own multiplier, up to 10x, applied to any win it helps form. It doesn’t trigger anything on its own and it isn’t the centre of the game. Its real value is inside a sticky respin chain, where a substituted wild can turn a modest column build into something considerably bigger before the hold breaks.

Burning Riot Free Spins & Bonus Features

The bonus round runs on a scatter meter. Ticket scatters collected during play fill the meter, and when it fills, the round triggers. The meter doesn’t hand out a fixed number of spins: it offers tiers, and the amounts shown on it are:

• 7 free spins
• 9 free spins
• 12 free spins

The tier structure gives the meter a build to it. Partial progress carries visible meaning, because the difference between seven and twelve spins is the difference between a taster and a proper round, and a fuller meter is always one step from paying out properly.

Once the spins are running, the same mechanics carry over: sticky respins are live, multiplier wilds can land, and the ways system pays exactly as it does in the base game. There’s no separate bonus screen or modified grid, so what the round amounts to is the core loop with the frequency turned up.

That repetition is the whole design. A 12-spin tier at the top of the ladder gives the sticky chains twelve chances to run, and with multiplier wilds in play the difference between the tiers compounds: every extra spin is another shot at a wild landing inside a build rather than a dead drop. The bonus is where the ladder’s steep six-of-a-kind jumps finally come into play, because long holds are what produce them.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 6.9/10

This is a slot that keeps you watching the stage rather than the ticket booth. Sessions live or die on the respin chains: a win locks, the reels respin, and a multiplier wild landing inside a build is the closest thing the game has to a guitar solo. The scatter meter ticking towards twelve spins gives even losing streaks a direction, and the grunge artwork makes the long stretches between features easier to sit through than they have any right to be.

The respin loop over the ways grid is the best thing here, because on six reels every sticky symbol opens the round up instead of closing it down. What lets it down is the arithmetic underneath: 94% is lean, and the top symbol pays just 1x for a full six-of-a-kind, so even the good rounds rarely feel like headliners.

It’s a good fit for players who enjoy the build for its own sake, with a bankroll relaxed enough to absorb the quiet nights. Anyone who measures a slot by its ceiling will find this setlist too short. For the rest, the gig’s worth the ticket.
