Bus Stop Bonanza Slot Review
A snowy British high street, a red-framed bus shelter on a concrete island, a fat grey pigeon hunched beside the kerbside bin. Bus Stop Bonanza is the rare slot that pays best when it takes things away: its biggest moments arrive not on the full 5×5 grid but on one that has shrunk to three reels. It’s an odd, appealing idea, wrapped in a bright storybook cartoon by Fish & Chips, and a stranger cousin to their Wolf of London.
It runs on a 5×5 grid with up to 3,125 ways to win, 96% RTP, medium-high volatility and stakes from 0.10 to 10. The interesting part is that this is a game which gets smaller as it pays: rather than stacking on extras, it strips reels away. Whether that eccentricity pays its fare is what follows.
Base Game & Features
Wins are evaluated left to right across the five reels, with the number of Ways running up to 3,125 when the grid is full. The cast is a queue at a bus stop: an elderly woman at the top of the pays, a woman with red hair behind her, then commuters and their clutter, down through purses, cricket balls, umbrellas and a dog.
The scene is a bright, glossy cartoon with thick outlines and cheerful colouring. The reels sit inside the shelter itself, raised on a concrete island above the slush. A red telephone box and a wrought-iron archway fill out the street behind, and the game’s logo hangs from a lamp-post sign with a little yellow bus perched above it.
Wild symbols can land on the reels, standing in for the paying symbols to complete combinations. Scatters appear in the base game too, and three of them are what open the bonus round.
Stacked High Symbols
In the base game, high symbols can land as three-symbol stacks, and they may do so on reels 1, 3 and 5. These stacks don’t expand, so what you see is what’s on the reel.
Their real job isn’t the pay, it’s the trigger. When matching stacks line up across the odd-numbered reels, the Reel Contraction mechanic takes over, and that’s where the game stops being a polite queue.
Paytable
Values below are multiples of the stake for three, four and five of a kind.
- Elderly Woman – 0.8x, 1.5x, 4x
- Woman with Red Hair – 0.6x, 1.2x, 3x
- Man with Backpack / Blonde Woman – 0.5x, 1x, 2x
- Purse/Bag / Cricket Ball – 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.5x
- Umbrella/Map – 0.3x, 0.7x, 1x
- Headphones – 0.3x, 0.6x, 0.8x
- Suitcase – 0.2x, 0.5x, 0.7x
- Dog – 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.6x
It’s a modest ladder. The top symbol pays 4x for a full line, and the bottom half of the table is loose change. The hit rate of 21.76% means most spins return nothing at all, so the stacks and the contractions carry this game, not the pays.
Bus Stop Bonanza Reel Contraction & Free Spins
Reel Contraction
Reel Contraction is the mechanic the whole game hangs on. When copies of the same Stacked High Symbol land at the same time on the middle reel and on either the first reel or the last, the reel sitting between the two stacks is deleted from the reelset entirely. The grid shrinks, a global multiplier appears, and a respin is awarded.
The default global multiplier is x1, but each respin adds a random multiplier between x1 and x10 to it, and the combined total multiplies every win. Any winning combination retriggers the respin, so a good run keeps deleting, keeps stacking the multiplier, and keeps paying.
During respins the Stacked High Symbols stay sticky where they landed, which is what lets the chain continue. Scatters can’t appear alongside a contraction, so the two bonus routes never overlap. Both contractions can happen at once if matching stacks appear on reels 1, 3 and 5 together, which removes two reels at a time.
Bus Stop Challenge
When two reels go in a single contraction, the game skips the respin stage entirely and moves straight into the Bus Stop Challenge. It’s the reward for the rarest version of the trigger: the double contraction, both middle reels wiped, and the game at its most compressed.
Free Spins
Three Scatter symbols trigger the Free Spins round. The headline change is that Stacked High Symbols can now appear on all reels rather than only on reels 1, 3 and 5, which is a genuine shift in how the stacks and the contractions behind them can line up.
With stacks available across the full width, the bonus round is where the mechanics get room to breathe. A stack pair on any two of the five reels can now set off a contraction, where the base game only offered the odd-numbered positions.
Bonus Buy
There’s a BUY button in the bottom right of the game window for players who’d rather skip the queue and go straight to the round. No pricing tiers are published for it, so what the jump costs depends on where you’re playing.
The maximum win is 9,658x the stake, and that’s the ceiling for the top end of a full contraction chain. What can be said is structural: the multiplier grows by up to x10 per respin with no reset inside the round, and the respins retrigger on every win.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.8/10
Playing Bus Stop Bonanza is mostly standing at a shelter in the cold, watching the queue, waiting for two strangers to line up. The reason somebody would choose it is what happens next: reels start disappearing, the multiplier climbs, and a game that looked like a quiet cartoon briefly turns feral. When that chain runs, there’s nothing else quite like it at this stake level.
Its strength is the contraction chain itself, because a round that keeps retriggering on every win gives a single spin more lives than the paytable implies. Its weakness is the waiting: four spins in five return nothing, the base symbol pays are thin, and most of the session is spent hoping the stacks arrive.
So it suits the patient kind of player, someone happy to sit through the quiet for a mechanic that compounds, and it’ll leave cold anyone who wants steady action from every spin. If you can wait at the bus stop with the pigeon, the payoff is a game worth waiting for.
