Cash Spree Phoenix Slot Review
A cracked obsidian egg sits on the ledge beside the reels, its fissures glowing molten orange, while jagged spires of dark rock rise against a churning crimson sky. Something in this canyon is waiting to hatch. Cash Spree Phoenix makes a bet most collection slots won’t: it hands nearly every decision to the base game, so by the time free spins arrive, the round has already been played into shape – and whether that’s gripping or gruelling depends entirely on your patience. The volcanic entry in Oros Gaming‘s Cash Spree series, alongside Cash Spree Fishin’ and Cash Spree Triton, it runs on a 5×4 grid with 720 ways, 96.20% RTP and high volatility, with stakes from 0.20 to 50.00.
Its idea is accumulation. Nearly everything collected in the base game carries into the free spins, so a spin rarely feels entirely wasted. The phoenix here doesn’t so much rise as smoulder, meter by meter, until the round finally arrives.
Base Game & Features
The reels sit in a five-by-four arrangement with 720 ways to win. A way is one position on each reel starting from the left, paying left to right across adjacent reels, and only the highest win counts per way. Wins land on roughly a third of spins at a 33.32% hit frequency.
Payouts follow a few simple rules. Where multiple winning combinations land on a single way, only the highest pays, and the same applies per symbol combination. The total for a spin is the sum of all way wins and all Cash Spree wins together. Way payouts are based on the initial bet, which is the total bet divided by a way cost of 10, so the paytable scales directly with whatever stake is set.
Wilds appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 only, substituting for the high and low paying symbols to complete wins, and they carry no payout of their own.
The paytable is a gem-led ladder with royals at the bottom, and it’s a modest one at the top end. Five of a kind in the red and orange gem, the best the ways can offer, returns 8x the stake, and nothing else in the symbol set comes close.
- Red/orange gem: 2x, 4x, 8x for three, four, five of a kind
- Green gem: 1.4x, 3x, 4x
- Purple/blue gem: 2x, 4x (four and five of a kind only)
- Teal/yellow gem: 0.4x, 1x, 2x
- Green/purple gem: 0.2x, 0.8x, 1.2x
- K: 0.2x, 0.8x, 1x
- Q: 0.2x, 0.6x, 1x
- J, 10, 9: 0.2x, 0.6x, 0.8x
- A: 0.2x, 0.8x (three and four of a kind only)
Cash Spree Symbols
The Cash Spree feature is the heart of the base game. Land Cash Spree symbols starting on reels 1 and 2 and they pay left to right across adjacent reels, with those wins added to any way wins from the same spin.
Cash Spree symbols award Mega, Major, Minor, Mini or cash values. The four jackpots only appear on reels 4 and 5, with a single Mega allowed per reel. Plain cash values land on all five reels, and the higher values are reserved for reels 4 and 5.
That split shapes how a hit reads. A run of small cash values across the first three reels can still pay, because anything adjacent from the left counts, but the prizes worth waiting for need the run to reach the final two reels where the ladder lives.
Cash Spree Phoenix Free Spins & Enhancers
Free Spins Symbol
The Free Spins symbol appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the base game only. Collecting one gives a chance to randomly trigger the Free Spins feature, and a chance to upgrade one, two or three of the enhancers described below. If it does neither, it simply accumulates.
The Three Enhancer Meters
Each enhancer can only be built in the base game, and its value at the moment of triggering is what the free spins round pays out on. The symbol can’t upgrade an enhancer on the spin that triggers the feature itself, so the round always opens with what was already banked.
- Spins Meter: sets the number of free spins awarded, up to 15. Each symbol may add 1. After the round completes it comes back at between 5 and 8.
- Cash Spree Multiplier Meter: applies to all Cash Spree wins in the feature except Mega and Major, and never multiplies the Bonus Meter value. Collect up to 5x, with the meter returning somewhere between 1x and 3x for the next attempt.
- Cash Spree Bonus Meter: pays its value on every free spin that produces a Cash Spree win, up to a maximum of 20x bet. It restarts at between 5x and 8x bet once the round is done.
The Free Spins Round
The trigger can come from any collected symbol: one or more Free Spins symbols anywhere on the reels may randomly award the feature. The round then plays out with the spins, multiplier and bonus value collected, at the same bet and ways as the triggering spin, and wins are added to base game wins.
Inside the round, the enhancers work together. Every free spin that lands a Cash Spree win collects the Bonus Meter’s value on top of the win itself, and the Multiplier Meter then multiplies that Cash Spree payout unless it’s a Mega or a Major. The meter values are fixed for the round, so what was collected is what gets paid.
The resets matter here. Because every meter comes back high after a round finishes, a feature that falls flat still leaves the next one partway loaded rather than starting from scratch.
Bonus Buy
The Bonus Buy purchases the Free Spins feature directly, with each option bought at its own price and played at the current bet. It’s available in the base game only, and the buy runs at the same 96.20% RTP as regular play. That matters more than usual here: because the meters decide what a purchased round is worth, knowing the tiers is half the decision.
- 2x Multiplier, 5 Free Spins, 6x Cash Spree Bonus
- 3x Multiplier, 10 Free Spins, 13x Cash Spree Bonus
- 5x Multiplier, 15 Free Spins, 20x Cash Spree Bonus
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Sitting at this canyon is a waiting game, and the reason to sit is that the waiting visibly pays: every collection nudges something you can watch climb, so even the quiet stretches feel like work towards the round rather than dead air. The egg glows the whole time.
The resets are the best thing here. All three meters come back high after a round, so a feature that flops still leaves the next one half-built, and failures cost less than they do in most collection games. The worst thing is the trigger. It fires at random on top of the collecting, so a fully-loaded set of meters can sit there spin after spin with nothing you can do about it, and no published win ceiling to aim at either.
It suits the patient kind who judge a slot by how the round pays when it finally lands, and it isn’t for anyone who wants features often or base wins with meat on them. The gaps are long and the ways are lean. But for players who like a slow, visible build, this fire is well stoked.
