Crazy Burrows Slot Review
A grinning hare in a green vest leans on a tool beside the reels of Crazy Burrows, one long ear flopped over, framed by thatched barn, split-rail fencing and rolling pasture under a peachy sky. Most farm slots pay you for what grows. This one, from Clutch Gaming, pays you for what the hare does next: the big win here isn’t a symbol you line up, it’s a path he takes through the grid, and where he’s been matters as much as where he stops.
It runs on a 5×5 grid with 15 paylines at 96.01% RTP, sitting alongside Duel of Wizards and Trap That Cheese in the studio’s catalogue, with Viking Raid Bonanza also worth a look. The farmyard looks gentle. The maths underneath is stranger than it looks, and nearly all of that strangeness walks on four legs.
Base Game & Features
Wins need at least three matching symbols on one of the 15 predefined lines, on adjacent reels and starting from the leftmost. Standard line stuff. The grid is a roomy 5×5, which matters less for the lines than for giving one particular symbol room to move.
The Rabbit Symbol
The Rabbit is the wild, substituting for all paying symbols, and it lands in all game modes as either a 1×1 or a 2×2 block. Every Rabbit carries a random multiplier, drawn from this ladder:
- 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x
- 15x, 20x, 25x
- 50x, 75x, 100x
After landing, the Rabbit moves horizontally or vertically to a neighbouring tile, up to 10 times in a single spin. Every time it leaves a tile it drops a Carrot behind it. A 2×2 Rabbit creates two Carrots with each movement.
It can also stop on top of a Carrot, applying its multiplier to that spin’s paylines. On the next spin it moves away, adding its multiplier to the Carrot revealed underneath. A Rabbit that ends its walk on a Carrot is therefore setting up the next spin as well as paying into the current one.
The Carrot Symbol
Carrots only exist because a Rabbit made them. Each one is a wild in its own right, substituting for all paying symbols, and it inherits the multiplier of the Rabbit that left it there. If a Rabbit passes over a Carrot, the Rabbit’s multiplier is added to the Carrot’s, and the stack keeps growing.
Multipliers
When Rabbits and Carrots take part in a payline, the sum of all their multipliers is applied to that line’s payout. That additive rule is the whole reason the movement matters: where the Rabbit walks decides which lines get boosted, and how many of its Carrots are standing on those lines when the win lands.
The Bonus symbol can land in the base game and in Bonus Boost mode, with only one Bonus symbol possible per reel. Five reels, five symbols, one per reel.
The paying symbols follow the farmyard theme: a Vegetable Crate and a Shovel at the top, then a Hat and a Watering Can, with 10, J, Q, K and A filling out the low end. The pays are modest at the bottom of the ladder and climb quickly at the top.
- Vegetable Crate: 1.5x, 3x and 5x for three, four and five of a kind
- Shovel: 1.25x, 2.5x and 4x
- Hat: 1x, 2x and 3x
- Watering Can: 0.75x, 1.25x and 2x
- 10, J, Q, K, A: 0.25x, 0.75x and 1.25x
Crazy Burrows Bonus Features & Free Spins
Three Bonus symbols in the same spin trigger a bonus round; four and five trigger progressively better versions of it. All three rounds award 10 free spins, and the difference between them is what stays on the board:
- Rabbit Run (3 Bonus symbols): all Rabbits are persistent for the entire bonus
- Carrot Chase (4 Bonus symbols): all Rabbits and Carrots are persistent
- Burrow Madness (5 Bonus symbols): all Rabbits and Carrots are persistent, and you start with at least one guaranteed Rabbit on the first spin
The progression is clean. Each step up adds stickiness, and in the top tier you begin with a multiplier-carrying wild already on the grid, walking and seeding Carrots from spin one.
In the base game, everything a Rabbit drops or stacks is wiped by the next spin. In Carrot Chase and Burrow Madness, nothing is wiped. A Carrot that grew to a high multiplier on spin two is still standing, still wild, still adding its number to every line it touches on spin ten. That’s the whole pitch of the top tiers: the board compounds instead of resetting.
Feature Buys
There’s a full buy menu, and every option on it runs at the same 96.01% RTP as the base game:
- Bonus Boost: 2x your stake, boosting Bonus symbol frequency
- Rabbit Spins: 500x, a dedicated mode built around the Rabbit mechanic
- Rabbit Run Instant Trigger: 150x
- Carrot Chase Instant Trigger: 400x
- Burrow Madness Instant Trigger: 1000x
- Mystery Bonus: 310x, instantly landing 3, 4 or 5 Bonus symbols and triggering whichever round they make
The 1000x entry price for Burrow Madness is steep for a 10-spin round, even with the guaranteed head start, and it’s the highest number on the board by a distance. The Mystery Bonus splits the difference: 310x for a floor of Rabbit Run and a shot at the top tier.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.8/10
Playing Crazy Burrows is mostly watching a well-dressed hare wander a farmyard while your balance politely declines. The reason to sit through that is the rare spin where his walk lines up: a trail of Carrots, a boosted line, and a payout the symbol values alone never hinted at. It’s a quiet game that occasionally shouts.
The best thing here is Burrow Madness, because a persistent board with a guaranteed Rabbit from spin one finally lets the mechanic do what it’s built for. The worst is that you’re asked to pay 1000x to see that version of the game, while the base game pays like it resents you.
This is a slot for people who enjoy a wild that has somewhere to be, and who don’t need a win every few spins to stay interested. Anyone after steady, obvious returns will find the pasture empty long before the hare gets interesting. For the rest, there’s real fun down the burrow.
