Crystal Lotus Slot Review
A crystal garden hangs in a violet void, every petal lit like neon tubing against the dark. Crystal Lotus, from Eyecon, spends its entire design budget on three reels in the middle and lets one flower do every special job in the game – and that focus, rather than a weakness, is what makes it worth a look.
The build is deliberately spare: a 5×3 grid, 10 paylines paying both ways, and an RTP of 96.560%. Where Fluffy Favourites and Enchanted Prince stack up pick rounds and side games, this one carries a single special symbol and nothing else.
Base Game & Features
The grid runs five reels by three rows with 10 fixed paylines, numbered and displayed on their own diagram. Line wins are multiplied by the wager per payline, and all of them pay from left to right and right to left. When several winning combinations land on the same line, the single highest one is what’s paid, and wins landing on different lines are totalled together.
Both-direction paying quietly changes how the outer reels behave. On a one-way game, reel one is a gatekeeper and reel five is an afterthought; here they carry equal weight, and a paying combination can be built from either end. It effectively doubles the routes each spin has into the paytable.
The symbol set is a gem-and-flower hybrid: BAR and 7 at the top, then a run of faceted blooms working down to a pink teardrop crystal. The ladder is short and top-heavy, and every value below is a multiple of the total bet:
- BAR – 100x for three, 400x for four, 3,000x for five
- 7 – 50x for three, 200x for four, 1,000x for five
- Sunflower (pink gem) – 20x for three, 100x for four, 1,000x for five
- Blue spiky flower – 20x for three, 40x for four, 100x for five
- Green flower – 10x for three, 30x for four, 100x for five
- White star flower – 10x for three, 30x for four, 100x for five
- Pink teardrop crystal – 10x for three, 20x for four, 100x for five
The shape of that ladder is the interesting part. Three symbols do the heavy lifting at the top, and everything below flattens out badly: the bottom half of the paytable pays the same 100x at five-of-a-kind, so a full line of lesser blooms is worth no more than a full line of the blue spiky flower. Four-of-a-kind money is thin everywhere except BAR.
The gaps between tiers tell you where the game’s money sits. The curve on the premium symbols rewards the complete line far more than the partial one, and the 7 and the sunflower are the only mid-tier symbols whose five-of-a-kind is worth getting out of bed for. The pink teardrop has the flattest progression on the board, barely climbing from its entry value to its top prize.
The Lotus is the wild and it does one job: it substitutes for all symbols, and it only appears on reels two, three and four. There’s no separate scatter, no second special symbol, no side ladder. The whole special-symbol budget was spent on one flower.
Autoplay is built in. The number of automatic spins is chosen up front, a loss limit can be set to cap the session’s downside, and the run can be halted manually at any point. It’s standard kit, but the loss-limit option is worth using on a game whose middle reels decide everything.
Crystal Lotus Bonus Features & Expanding Wilds
There’s one feature, and it runs the whole show. The Expanding Wild Re-Spin Feature is triggered when one or more scattered Lotus symbols appear anywhere on reels two, three and four. Here’s the sequence, in the order the game plays it:
- One or more Lotus symbols land scattered anywhere on reels 2, 3 and 4
- Each Lotus expands to cover every position on its reel before line wins are awarded
- The reels carrying a Lotus are held
- A re-spin is awarded on the remaining reels
- If a new Lotus lands on a reel that isn’t held, steps 2 to 4 repeat
- The feature ends when a re-spin brings no new Lotus, or when reels 2, 3 and 4 are all held
Three re-spins is the ceiling, so a full feature runs to at most four evaluated screens: the trigger spin plus three re-spins. Because the expansions happen before line wins are paid, every win on the trigger spin itself already benefits from the stacked reel.
The scale of the trigger matters more than you’d expect. A single Lotus on reel three holds the middle reel and re-spins the other four; that’s the common case, and it plays like a nudge rather than an event. Two Lotuses at once holds two reels and leaves only three spinning, which is where the feature starts asking questions. The full three-reel hold is the outcome everything else is reaching for.
Fully held, the middle three reels are stacked wilds and both directions of the 10 paylines run through them, which is where the top of the paytable stops being decorative. Five BAR symbols pay 3,000x the total bet, the highest value on the paytable, which a fully-held board makes genuinely reachable rather than theoretical.
Worth noting on the mechanics: the Lotus doesn’t pay as a scatter in its own right, it only triggers and substitutes. And because it appears on the middle three reels alone, the outer reels carry all the paying pressure once the feature is live. Whatever lands on reels one and five decides the size of the outcome.
That division of labour shapes every spin. Reels two, three and four can’t award a win on their own – they only ever complete combinations started elsewhere – so the game’s entire risk sits in whether the outer reels cooperate at the exact moment the middle holds. A held board with weak flanks pays modestly; a held board with BAR or 7 on the wings is the whole reason to keep spinning.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
This is a waiting game dressed in neon. Sessions live or die on whether a Lotus lands in the middle, and the one reason to pick it is that when the feature chains, those three held reels can produce the best moment in Eyecon’s catalogue. The base game between features is a quiet place.
The strength is that both-way paying plus stacked middle wilds is a combination that actually delivers, with a 3,000x top prize that’s real rather than decorative. The weakness is everything else: five of the seven symbols are near-worthless at four-of-a-kind, and there’s nothing to do between features but watch the garden glow.
It’s for players who enjoy one well-made mechanic and don’t need a parade of bonuses to stay interested, and it isn’t for anyone who wants variety in a session. The patient ones will find the flowers open properly.
