Deadline Slot Review
The meeting room in Deadline is where enthusiasm goes to die, and the game knows it. A whiteboard bolted to the office wall carries the reels, DEAD is scrawled above it in red beside a heartbeat line that flatlines off the edge, and the wall clock’s face reads HELL. Two shaved-headed colleagues slump in the foreground like hostages at a presentation, watched over by a framed portrait of a jowly grey-haired man captioned #1 BOSS.
Chaos Clinic draws it all in scratchy pencil sketch, greyscale with blood-red accents, and the misery is total: pinned notes reading KILL ME and 404 NOT FOUND, a work-life balance diagram with a stick figure on scales. Underneath it runs a 5×4 grid with 10 fixed paylines at 96.30% RTP, and the wilds are deliberately the best-paying thing in it, which is the whole design. The walls of that meeting room have plenty left to say.
Base Game & Features
The symbols keep the theme running. Premiums are the Overtime Clock, a Stapler, a To Do List and a letter of Resignation, with the royals made up of office clutter: a mug, a mouse, a keyboard, handcuffs and a motivation graph. Even the top symbol is a clock, which tells you where this game’s head is at.
Wins pay left to right across the 10 fixed paylines, three or more matching. The pays, as multiples of stake for three, four and five of a kind:
- Overtime Clock: 2x, 5x, 10x
- Stapler: 1.6x, 3x, 5x
- To Do List: 1.2x, 2x, 3x
- Resignation: 0.6x, 1.2x, 2x
- Bad Company (John Burnout): 0.4x, 1x, 1.4x
- Motivation graph, Handcuffs, TWAT Mug, Mouse, Keyboard: 0.2x, 0.6x, 1x
It’s a top-heavy ladder. The Overtime Clock pays 10x for a full line, while the office clutter returns your stake at best for five of a kind. Bigger wins need the wilds.
A wild substitutes in winning combinations and can land carrying a multiplier from 1x up to 50x. Premium wilds run x2 to x10 and multiply the other active wild multipliers before the win is counted. Two wilds in one line don’t add, they stack.
That stacking is where the base game’s real potential sits. A 6x and a 3x with a premium in the mix escalates quickly, and the 50x top-end multiplier means a single lined-up win can dwarf anything the scatter ladder’s lower rungs offer.
Sticky Wild Respins
Land three or more wilds in the base game and a respin starts. The triggering wilds hold their positions, and every new wild that lands pays every time and grants another respin. The chain runs until a respin brings no new wild.
Each wild in the chain carries its own multiplier, and a long chain can build a serious payout without a bonus ever landing. Wild Settlement can drop out of these chains too, when the wilds happen to fill a full row.
Wild Settlement
Fill all five reels with a wild in the same row and that row settles. It’s paid once as a five-of-a-kind wild win, and every wild multiplier on the row is added together to multiply it.
The worked example lands at 112x, which shows what a full row of mid-range multipliers does. With the 50x wild in play, the arithmetic only gets uglier in your favour.
Deadline Free Spins & Bonus Features
The Bonus icon is the FS Scatter, restricted to one per reel in the base game. How many arrive decides the round:
- 3 scatters award Raise Spins
- 4 scatters award Overtime Spins
- 5 scatters award Max Chaos
Raise Spins
The entry bonus keeps every base game mechanic and adds one thing: all wilds that land become sticky for the rest of the feature. With the respin chains and settlement rows still live, sticky wilds turn a modest spin count into something that can build across the whole round.
The Global Clock Multiplier
Overtime Spins and Max Chaos carry a Global Clock Multiplier that applies to all wins and never resets for the rest of the round. The base game and Raise Spins have no clock at all, which makes the top two bonuses structurally different games, not just bigger ones.
Overtime Spins
4 scatters swap the spin count for a pool of five lives. Every winner burns one; each scatter that lands adds one back, capped at five. Wild multipliers don’t stick here. They’re collected into the clock, which starts at 1x and grows with every wild multiplier it absorbs.
Wins starve the round, wilds feed it, and the clock only moves in one direction. The round ends when the lives run dry, so a cold streak finishes fast and a hot one keeps the meter running.
Max Chaos
5 scatters and the game stops pretending it’s a free spins round. There are no sticky wilds and no scatters, just up to nine dead spins where the clock advances one fixed step each time nothing wins:
- 1x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 500x, then 15,000x
A winning spin ends the feature at whatever the clock has reached, and nine dead spins in a row award the Max Win. It’s a tightrope: every loss raises the ceiling and every win cuts the rope.
Bonus Buy
A red BUY BONUS button sits in the bottom-left corner of the base game, so the ladder is available without grinding scatters. The meeting room door swings both ways.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.9/10
You spend most of a session in Deadline waiting for the meeting to end, and the wilds are the reason it’s worth the wait. That’s the pitch, really: an ordinary-looking 10-liner where the best thing on the screen is a stapler next to a resignation letter, and a respin chain that refuses to stop.
The strength is the wild ladder. Because wilds stack instead of adding, one lucky row does the work of a whole bonus round, and no other part of the game pays like it. The weakness is everything underneath: the paytable is thin, the low symbols barely return your stake, and Raise Spins is so close to the base game it barely justifies the walk to the whiteboard.
This suits players who want a mean streak with their multipliers and don’t need every feature to arrive with confetti. Anyone after steady, low-variance grazing will hate it here. For the rest of us, the clock on that wall says HELL for a reason, and it’s worth sitting through the meeting.
