Eye of Atum Slot Review 2024

Play’n GO are taking another stab at an Egyptian-themed slot featuring the legendary creator God , in Eye of Atum!

Are we daring enough to travel to Ancient times where the lands of Egypt were once ruled by almighty Gods and Goddesses? Well we’ve tamed a mythological creature in Legend of the Ice Dragon and survived a backstreet brawl in Hooligan Hustle, so we’re pretty sure we’ve got this.

It’s no secret that Play’n GO wear the crown when it comes to Egyptian-themed slots, with Legacy of Dead and Book of Dead still taking centre stage in that department, but have these titles finally met their match with Eye of Atum?

Atum was known as a self-created Deity in Egyptian Mythology. The Egyptians believed that Atum himself lifted the deceased King’s soul from his Pyramid and into the night sky. From then, he was known as a Solar Deity, associated with the God of Sun, Ra.

As we’ve already mentioned, Play’n Go has opted for an Egyptian theme here. When you first load up Eye of Atum, you are instantly drawn to the old school graphics which remind us of Reel Time Gaming’s Eye of Horus, or maybe it’s because they both have similar titles, who knows. If you’re a lover of an older looking slot, you will feel right at home here. If you’re keeping an open mind, let us tell you a little about what’s on offer here.

Eye of Atum is a 5 reel slot that has exciting Expanding Wilds and a very impressive Free Spins round, where Expanding Wilds will upgrade all higher-paying symbols. If that doesn’t float your boat then maybe the above-average RTP of 96.20% will do the trick.

Atum harnesses unimaginable power, but will we be worthy of his fortune? Let’s play on and find out!

Eye of Atum Base Game and Features

Eye of Atum is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. In order to form a win, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The base game in Eye of Atum could be considered rather boring, an even with the Expanding Wilds feature, it doesn’t really change our opinion. That being said, the Expanding Wilds feature has the potential to deliver some pretty decent hits if you manage to land a decent amount of higher paying symbols.

Expanding Wilds

During any random spin in the base game, landing a Wild symbol on reels 2, 3 and 4 will trigger the Expanding Wilds feature.

Once a Wild symbol is present on the reels, it will Expand to fill the entire reel.

Try not to take your attention off the reels, this feature happens so quickly and you may just miss it. Eye of Atum lacks in the feature department, we aren’t even sure you can class this as one in all honesty, but it’s certainly better than nothing.

Eye of Atum Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 12 Free Spins. Landing 3 or more Scatters during the Free Spins round, awards an additional +12 Free Spins.

During the Free Spins round, if a Wild symbol lands it will expand to fill the entire reel and upgrade the lowest value high-paying symbol to the next available high-paying symbol. This will continue each time a Wild symbol lands on the reels and all high-paying symbols are upgraded to the highest paying symbol.

In additon to this, landing 1, 2 or 3 Wild symbols during any one Free Spins, awards +1, +3 and +5 Free Spins respectively, up to a maximum of 150 Free Spins.

Eye of Atum: Our Verdict

Eye of Atum may not have a lot going for it in terms of looks and theme, but if you’re a fan of the Eye of Horus titles, then you’re going to appreciate what Play’n GO has done here. There are so many Egyptian themed slots from Play’n GO it’s hard to remember which one is which, but we don’t think you will have any trouble telling Eye of Atum apart from the rest.

The base game in Eye of Atum is very simple to understand, with no complex features to wrap your head around. Other than the quick and easy Expanding Wilds, which is pretty self-explanatory, Eye of Atum is a very relaxed slot.

It seems that Play’n GO took the word ‘relaxed’ to a whole new level with Eye of Atum, which definitely shows in the maximum win capacity of 2,000x. On the flip side though, the RTP sits at an above average of 96.20%, which is a pretty standard RTP for Play’n GO slots.

All in all, Eye of Atum is a slow and steady slot, perfect for players who prefer a laid-back gaming experience, but for those who are thrill seekers, Eye of Atum is certainly lacking in that department.
