Rex Respins

When a Rex symbol lands fully in view on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, it will trigger the Rex Respins Feature. Rex is a Sticky Wild that walks towards Reel 1 (one reel per Respin).

Hatchling Wilds that land are also Sticky and will walk in Front and Behind the Rex Wild symbol. Up to 5 Respins can be awarded, depending on the reel Rex lands on. The last Respin will occur when Rex reaches Reel 1.

Raging Rex 3 Free Spins Options

Raging Rex 3 Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters on the reels in the base game automatically triggers the Free Spins round. The number of starting Free Spins depends on which Feature you select, of which there are 3 to choose from.

Feeding Frenzy Free Spins

Feeding Frenzy awards 7, 9, 11, or 13 Free Spins for 3, 4, 5, and 6 triggering Scatters respectively.

During this round, Rex acts as a Sticky Wild on the reels and may move in any direction during this time. A special Hunting Target will be chosen from the 4 Highest-paying Dinosaur symbols at the beginning of the round.

Whenever Rex moves across or stops on said Target, that symbol will be consumed. For every 6th Hunting Target consumed, Rex will receive a +x1 Stacking Multiplier (x2, x3, x4, x5, x6 ect).

Landing 2, 3, 4, or 5 Scatters during this time will award an additional +2, +3, +4, and +5 Free Spins respectively.

Hatchling Mania Free Spins

Hatchling Mania awards 7, 9, 11, and 13 Free Spins for 3, 4, 5, or 6 triggering Scatters respectively.

During this round, Hatchlings act as Sticky Wilds and can move in any direction during this time. Please note, that Rex does not appear during this round.

Hatching may also deliver a x2 or x3 Win Multiplier which multiplies together if they are part of the same win. Landing 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters will award an additional +1, +2, +3, +4, and +5 Free Spins respectively.

Survival is a Respins round that awards 3 Respins/Lives at the start. Whenever a Dinosaur symbol lands in any of the 12 positions, it will be eaten, refilling the Respins/Lives meter back to 3.

Eaten Dinosaur symbols are then replaced with Sticky Bone symbols and have their values absorbed by Rex. Dinosaurs will start with a value of x1, x2, x5, or x10. At the end of Survival, Rex’s total value will be paid out.

Each Bone symbol will contribute towards filling the Bone Meter atop the grid by +1 Step. Filling the entire Bone Meter will remove all Bone symbols from the grid and upgrade the values of Dinosaur symbols going forward by an amount equal to their start value. After this, the Bone Meter is then reset.

The Bone Meter starts off with 6 Steps needing to be filled, but this increases by 1 Step for the first 2 times it is filled, up to a maximum of 8 Steps.

If this feature was triggered with more than 3 Scatters, a special Symbol Upgrade will be awarded for each additional Scatter before the round begins.

Raging Rex 3: Our Verdict

Raging Rex was and still is a valued fan favourite, even though it’s considered a golden oldie thanks to its age. Raging Rex 2 was a highly-anticipated release after years of impatient waiting, and now we’ve gone and got ourselves a full-blown series.

The gap between the first and second Raging Rex slots was far too long a wait to see this magnificent beast in action again. Closing the gap a little more the third time around, Raging Rex 3 looks even fiercer than those before it, but can the same be said for gameplay?

Raging Rex 3 sees the return of the Rex Respins feature in the base game, yet there’s nothing new to really point out here. To go with the latest and greatest installment of the series, Play’n GO could have come up with something extra to throw into this feature…maybe next time eh?

Play’n GO has firmly stuck to the idea of 3 Free Spins rounds, although Survival happens to be all about the Respins. Regardless, each Free Spins/Respins Bonus caters to players with different gameplay tastes and preferences, something you don’t see that often.

Play’n GO has made a number of positive changes to gameplay and design, but there seems to be no budge in the max win cap of 30,000x, but hey, let’s not get too greedy!

All in all, Raging Rex 3 is a desirable slot with many great changes to gameplay and design, and we can’t wait to see where Play’n GO takes the series next. Who knows, we might even get to meet Papa Rex next time!
