Fire and Roses Joker Diamonds Slot Review
A harlequin queen leans in from the left edge of the reels, belled crown tipped, a golden rose at her hip and a lightbulb-studded drum beneath her hand. This game is built backwards from most collect-and-climb slots: the closer the prizes above the reels get to being worth winning, the harder the game works to keep them from you.
Triple Edge Studios has built its most elaborate collection system into this one. Five reels in a 4-5-6-5-4 arrangement carry 2,400 ways paying in both directions, at medium-high volatility with a 22% hit rate. Stakes run from 0.20 to 40.00.
It shares its rose-crowned cabinet with Fire and Roses Jolly Joker and Fire and Roses Gold Blitz Fortune Tower. There’s a lot going on behind those reels.
Base Game & Features
Wins land left to right and right to left, starting from the first and last reel respectively, which effectively doubles the number of patterns in play on every spin. Only the highest combination pays per way. It’s a straightforward engine underneath all the gold.
The paytable is a classic joker’s ledger, and it’s a modest one. Here’s what each symbol returns as a multiple of the initial bet:
- 7 – 1x for four, 1.5x for five
- Cherry – 0.6x for three, 0.8x for four, 1x for five
- Dice – 0.5x for three, 0.6x for four, 0.8x for five
- Cards – 0.4x for three, 0.5x for four, 0.6x for five
- Spade / Heart – 0.3x for three, 0.4x for four, 0.5x for five
- Diamond / Club – 0.2x for three, 0.3x for four, 0.4x for five
Jumbo Wilds and Expanding Wilds
Jumbo Wilds are 1×2 symbols that can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, substituting for everything except Scatters and the three token types. When one forms part of a ways win, it expands to fill its reel and becomes an Expanding Wild.
The number of ways played updates to match: 480 ways for reels 2 or 4, 400 for reel 3, down to just 16 when all three middle reels expand at once. Each Expanding Wild carries two random multiplier options, one of which is applied to the win. In the base game those run from 5x to 10x on reels 2 and 4, and 6x to 10x on reel 3. Adjacent full-reel wilds compound their multipliers, which is where the base game’s biggest single hits come from.
Scatters are the other half of the base game. There are five, one unique to each reel, and they pay nothing themselves. What they do is feed tokens.
Scatters on exactly four of five reels bring Rising Rewards Bonus Spins Tokens, each adding either a bonus spin or a multiplier point to one of the three meters. Scatters on one to three reels collect All-In tokens instead.
Win Booster
The Win Booster is a base-game toggle that increases the chance of triggering wheel features and landing Expanding Wilds. It costs an additional bet equal to 4x the base bet, and all payouts remain based on the base bet. It changes nothing about ways, symbol pays or jackpot values. It’s switched off during features, and it has no effect on the Bonus Buy either.
Fire and Roses Joker Diamonds Bonus Spins & Wheel Features
Rising Rewards Jackpot Wheel
Five jackpots sit above the reels, one above each reel, and every Jackpot Token that lands grows that reel’s prize by 0.5x the bet until it caps out:
- Grand – starts at 1,000x, maximum 5,000x
- Mega – starts at 200x, maximum 1,000x
- Major – starts at 50x, maximum 250x
- Minor – starts at 10x, maximum 100x
- Mini – starts at 5x, maximum 75x
Collect one or more Jackpot Tokens and you get a chance to spin the wheel, which awards one of the five. The winning jackpot then resets to its starting value and begins climbing again, so the ladder is never finished.
One catch: the probability of triggering the wheel falls as the jackpot values rise, so the prizes you most want are the hardest to reach.
Rising Rewards Bonus Spins Meters and Wheel
Three meters sit in the base game, each holding a stock of bonus spins and a wild multiplier that grows as tokens land:
- Meter 1 – defaults 15 spins / 10x multiplier, maximum 50 spins / 20x
- Meter 2 – defaults 10 spins / 8x multiplier, maximum 30 spins / 15x
- Meter 3 – defaults 5 spins / 6x multiplier, maximum 20 spins / 10x
There are two ways to set the wheel off. Land a Scatter on every reel and it triggers instantly, or accumulate tokens for a random chance. Each wheel spin awards one of the three metered features at its current accumulated values, then that meter resets to its defaults.
The same sliding odds apply here too: as the meter values climb, a trigger becomes less likely.
All-In Wheel
All-In tokens come from Scatters landing on one to three reels, and collecting them gives a chance at the All-In Wheel. It can stop on a Rising Rewards Jackpot, a round of Bonus Spins with a minimum 6x wild multiplier, or a full Rising Rewards Bonus Spins feature at whatever the meters hold.
It’s the game’s all-purpose door prize, and the only route to the plain Bonus Spins round.
Bonus Spins Feature
During either spins feature, every Scatter that lands either adds a spin or bumps the wild multiplier by 1x, and Scatters covering all five reels together add five more. The wild multiplier meter sets the floor for what Expanding Wilds can present, with the ceiling at the meter value plus 4x, capped at 25x. Bets and ways match the triggering spin.
Bonus Buy
The Bonus Buy offers three purchases: the Rising Rewards Jackpot Wheel, the Rising Rewards Bonus Spins Wheel, or the All-In Wheel. Each is played at your current bet, with your accumulated meter and jackpot values carried in.
The cost isn’t fixed. It moves as the meters and jackpots accumulate and reset, and options can become unavailable as the price climbs. The Win Booster doesn’t affect any of it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Playing this one is a long conversation with a very patient queen. Nothing pays big in a hurry; instead you watch numbers grow above the reels and inside three meters, and the reason to sit down at this cabinet rather than another is that the build itself is the entertainment. The jackpots reset the moment they pay, so the climb never actually ends.
The Expanding Wild multipliers are the best thing in it – two full-reel wilds compounding on a both-ways grid can turn a nothing spin into the best hit of a session. The sliding odds are the worst: the game gets stingier exactly when the meters and jackpots are worth the most, so the state you’re building towards is the state the game defends hardest.
This suits a player who enjoys watching a system fill up over a long session, who cares about the ladder as much as the payout. Anyone after quick bonuses or a fast punch of volatility won’t get it here. Her court rewards company, not hurry.
