Flaming Joker Link&Win Slot Review
A joker grins out of a wall of hot magenta light, his name arcing over the reels in letters that are actively on fire. The costume is doing all the work a costume can, because the game underneath it is a waiting room: a classic-casino ladder with a top symbol worth 25x, sitting there mostly to pass the time until the Link&Win symbols arrive. That’s a fair arrangement if the chase pays for the wait, and here it almost does.
Barstruck, the studio behind Explode the Toad Megaways, run it at 96.08% RTP with high volatility, stakes from 0.10 to 20.00, and a hit frequency of 30.33%. The paytable is modest; everything else is pushed towards the respins and the jackpots hanging either side of the logo.
Base Game & Features
This is a five-reel, three-row slot with 25 fixed paylines. Wins run left to right from the first reel, and only the highest combination counts per payline. If multiple winning combinations land on a single payline, again only the highest is paid.
The symbol ladder is pure classic-casino: 7s, Bells, BARs and Stars up top, then the royals down to J. It’s a modest ladder, and the gap between the top symbol and everything below it is wide.
- 7 – 2x, 5x, 25x for three, four, five
- Bell – 1.2x, 2.5x, 15x
- BAR – 1x, 2x, 10.5x
- Star – 0.8x, 1.5x, 7.5x
- A – 0.5x, 0.8x, 4x
- K – 0.4x, 0.7x, 3x
- Q – 0.3x, 0.6x, 2.5x
- J – 0.3x, 0.5x, 2x
Payline wins are based on the bet placed, and the total payout for a spin is the sum of all payline wins and Scatter wins. Wilds and Scatters sit outside that ladder entirely, and each earns its own paragraph below.
Wilds and Scatters
Wilds substitute for everything except the Scatter and Link&Win symbols, and they can land on any reel. They can also form their own winning combinations, which matters on a ladder where the 7 pays just 2x for three. That’s their whole job here, and they do it without frills.
Scatters appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 only. They pay in any position, and three of them are worth 1x the total bet on top of triggering the free spins. Scatter wins are multiplied by the total bet and added to line wins, and the Wild can’t stand in for them.
Win Booster
The Win Booster is a toggle in the base game. Switch it on and the reels carry additional Link&Win symbols, which raises the chance of the feature triggering. The cost is an extra bet equal to 2.5x your current stake, so a 1.00 spin becomes 3.50 with the booster running.
It doesn’t touch line pays or Link&Win symbol pays, so the entire purchase is trigger frequency. The RTP with the booster enabled runs at 96.33%, fractionally above the base figure, which tells you the extra bet is priced close to fairly rather than as a premium.
Flaming Joker Link&Win Respins and Free Spins
Link&Win
Six or more Link&Win symbols anywhere on the grid starts the chase, up to a maximum of fourteen from a single spin. It fires in the base game and during free spins alike. Every triggering symbol locks in place carrying a cash prize or a jackpot label, and the round opens with three respins.
Each unlocked position then spins individually on special reels stocked only with Link&Win symbols and blanks. Land a new symbol and it locks, and the respin count resets to three. The round ends when the respins run out or all fifteen positions fill.
Four jackpots ride on the symbols themselves:
- Mini Jackpot – 50x bet
- Minor Jackpot – 150x bet
- Major Jackpot – 750x bet
- Mega Jackpot – 5,000x bet
The Mini, Minor and Major are paid for each symbol that carries them, so a single round can collect the same jackpot more than once. Fill all fifteen positions and the Mega Jackpot is awarded on top of every prize already locked on the reels.
Because the jackpot values are fixed multiples of the bet rather than progressive pools, they scale exactly with your stake. The 5,000x Mega is the game’s ceiling, and it’s a full-board prize by definition rather than a lucky line.
Free Spins and the Jumbo Block
Three Scatters award 10 free spins plus 1x the total bet. The twist is the centre three reels: they merge into a single 3×3 Jumbo Block that spins as one giant symbol.
Land a Scatter Jumbo Block and you collect another 10 spins and another 1x bet. A Link&Win Jumbo Block counts as nine individual symbols, which means one giant symbol can single-handedly trigger the respins.
Bets and lines stay fixed to the triggering spin, and the Win Booster’s state carries over and can’t be changed mid-round. The booster you entered with is the booster you keep, so the toggle decision at the door shapes the whole round.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
This is a game you sit through for one moment: the reels filling with locked symbols and the respin count resetting with a board half-full. The joker’s grin and the magenta glow are pleasant company while you wait, and the Win Booster is priced fairly enough that the wait needn’t be a long one.
The Jumbo Block is the best thing Barstruck put in it. Because the centre reels merge, a single Link&Win block counts as nine symbols, which turns a routine free-spins round into a live shot at the respins. The base game is the weak half: the ladder tops out at 25x, and the 30.33% hit rate means the space between features is mostly small change and pink light.
It’s for players who like a respin chase with fixed jackpots they can read off the screen, and it isn’t for anyone who wants the base game to carry its own weight. If the theatre of filling a board appeals, the flames here are more than decoration.
