Floating Dragon Slot Review
Floating Dragon Slot is an upcoming action-packed adventure from Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play utilising their popular Hold & Spin mechanic, seen previously in Hot to Burn Hold and Spin.
Witness the beauty of the blossom trees and fly a kite care free in a calm, picturesque slot with win potential that would make you anything but calm.
Pragmatic Play re-visit an eastern theme in Floating Dragon after not having done so since their release of The Dragon Tiger in November 2020. Behind classic Fruit Themes and Wild Western games, Asian themed games must be a close contender for one of the most popular slot designs out there.
Although completely different in theme, fans of the slot Big Bass Bonanza may want to read on, as there seems to be striking similarities between the two games.
In This Floating Dragon Slot Review, we’ll be looking closely at all of the aspects of the game, including theme, statistics, gameplay and potential to see if Floating Dragon is more than just a good looking game.
Floating Dragon Slot Theme
Floating Dragon displays that level of Pragmatic Play quality that we’ve become so fond of.
The background is simple yet very picturesque. To the left and the right of the screen you’ll see blossom trees, with petals occasionally floating past the reels in a nice touch of animation.
The music fits very well with the theme of the game with a traditional Chinese style melody that sounds very relaxing.
We’ve said it before, but games just can’t convey the same kind of serene settings that Asian themed games can. The culture is so rich and beautiful, and it’s done very well in slot format time and time again. Floating Dragon Slot is no exception to the plethora of slots out there that translate this compelling style in pursuit of an interesting game.
Although one of many, that’s not to take away the design and style that Floating Dragon has pulled off. If you’re looking to wind down and you can’t be bothered with a sensory overload by playing games with explosive themes and extravagant and busy animations, then Floating Dragon may be just the game to chill out with.
Theme aside, what do the betting options look like in Floating Dragon? and what are the symbols and their pay outs?
Floating Dragon Slot: Betting and Symbols
Betting options in Floating Dragon are vast enough that they cover the needs for pretty much any player.
The lowest option available in Floating Dragon is £/€0.10 per spin, and the highest option is a big £/€250 per spin.
All of the top symbols in Floating Dragon Slot are cleverly depicted as kites. The highest paying symbol in the game is the Ship, followed by the Bird, Butterfly, Man and Fish Symbols, which also hold money values for the bonus – another clue that Floating Dragon is similar to Big Bass Bonanza.
Low paying symbols are A, K, Q, J & 10. There is a Wild symbol in the game, which is the Asian Lady. She will only appear during the Free Spins round.
The Scatter symbol for the game is the Red Dragon, who appears on all reels.
Symbol pay outs in the game are pretty decent. A line of the top symbol will give you a 200x pay out, which is more than generous for a line of symbols, but maybe not quite as much as you’d get in Book style games, which are often as high as 500x for a line.
Regardless, you can’t complain about the prizes on offer.
Let’s move on to the actual gameplay, what can we expect in the Base Game of Floating Dragon?
Floating Dragon: The Base Game and Features
Floating Dragon is a 5 reel video slot with 10 fixed pay lines.
To form a win, you’ll need to connect at least 3 matching symbols from left to right along any of the 10 lines.
The Fish Symbols with monetary values don’t truly represent the value that they display until you get to the bonus. Until then, they’re just regular symbols like all others.
One interesting feature within the Base Game is the Hold & Spin feature, which is something you don’t see in Big Bass Bonanza.
Floating Dragon: Hold & Spin
Whenever 3 Golden Money Symbols land on the middle reel, then the Hold & Spin feature will trigger.
The feature will start and the middle symbols that triggered the feature will stick. Their monetary values will add to a total at the top of the screen, and the remaining reels will respin.
You’ll be given 3 lives with this feature. Every time a new symbol lands on reels 1, 2, 4 or 5, the value will add to the total, and the 3 golden symbols that triggered the bonus will add their total once more.
Only the symbols on the middle reel will stick, any other symbols that land will pay and disappear, making room for new symbols to land.
This feature has a 20x bonus guarantee. If by the end of the round the total does not yet reach 20x, then 3 more respins are awarded.
It’s a decent showing from Reel Kingdom to add this feature into the game. It makes it stand out a little bit from Big Bass Bonanza, which only had the Free Spins.
Speaking of Free Spins, lets look at the bonus round to see what sort of rewards await there…
Floating Dragon Free Spins
Free Spins are awarded when 3 or more Scatter Symbols land in the Base Game
- 3 Scatters – 10 Free Spins
- 4 Scatters – 15 Free Spins
- 5 Scatters – 20 Free Spins
In this round, the Wild Symbol may now land. The Wild Symbol will act as a collector symbol. This will collect the value attached to any of the Fish Symbols if they land on the same spin. Multiple Wilds may land on a single Spin, and each will collect all of the values separately, resulting in what is essentially a doubled win.
Like Big Bass Bonanza, there is tiers to the bonus.
Every Scatter that lands will collect. Every 4th Scatter will take you to the next level, which awards 10 more spins and a multiplier going into the next round
- Round 1 – 10 Spins at 1x
- Round 2 – 10 Spins at 2x
- Round 3 – 10 Spins at 3x
- Round 4 – 10 Spins at 10x
Seems awfully familiar right? Big Bass Bonanza goes eastern! Reel Kingdom did make Big Bass Bonanza as well, and they wouldn’t be the first to have recycled a game using a different theme.
You can’t be too upset, Floating Dragon does have the Hold & Spin feature, which isn’t present in Big Bass Bonanza, so there is a slight difference in content at least.
Where to Play Floating Dragon Slot?
Floating Dragon is yet to be released, but it will be available to play at most New Casinos when it releases on 15.04.2021
Floating Dragon Slot: Our Verdict
Floating Dragon is more or less a copy and paste of Big Bass Bonanza, except for the Hold and Spin Feature.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing by any means. In fact, some even believe that Big Bass Bonanza did Fishin’ Frenzy better than Fishin’ Frenzy did. It’s hard not to agree with its Wild collection feature that takes you up to the next level where you not only get more spins, but also a multiplier.
You have to give Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom a big thumbs up for the theme on this one. Everything visually looks crisp and Floating Dragon really does seem like a game that you can unwind with.
Does Floating Dragon have the same problem that Big Bass Bonanza did where the Wild collector symbol would vanish off the face of the earth after a re-trigger? Unfortunately so. Even through testing the game, and obtaining 5 Scatters which gave you 20 spins, we still didnt manage to get up to the next level on one of the bonuses.
Of course, this won’t always be the case, it will vary on the day, but still, Big Bass Bonanza and this did feel a little bit rigged at points when the Wild just disappears. It can’t always be the case that the bonus is absolutely inundated with Wilds though, but when you don’t get a bonus where the Wild has commitment issues then it can perform pretty well indeed.
Wins of up to 5,000x are possible on Floating Dragon, which is actually double what Big Bass Bonanza is said to be capable of making it even more of an attractive choice than that, unless you’re really into Fishing and would like to keep true to the theme.
It seems to be a running theme amongst Pragmatic Play games that the maximum win is 5,000x (lately anyway).
5,000x is absolutely nothing to scoff at, but it would be great to see Pragmatic Play bring out a real blockbluster title capable of something absolutely unpredecented. Sort of what like Relax Gaming did with Money Train, and what NoLimit City have done with San Quinten.
Overall. Floating Dragon is a dependable game with that much loved Fishin’ Frenzy mechanic that continues to perform even today.
