Fortune of Giza Slot Review 2024
Pragmatic Play is taking us on an epic adventure across the shifting dunes of Egypt, where the search is on for hidden riches, in Fortune of Giza!
Pragmatic Play are especially adept at creating a slot with an Egyptian theme, having taken us on many a similar journey with their John Hunter series, Rise of Giza Powernudge, and more.
We’re big fans of Pragmatic Play, but we have to say, we find ourselves slightly bored of this kind of aesthetic now.
Can Fortune of Giza provide the excitement that the theme did not?
Let’s find out.
Fortune of Giza Base Game and Features
Fortune of Giza is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the lefy-most reel. The minimum bet available here is £/€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.
In terms of symbols, the highest paying regular symbol in Fortune of Giza is the Pharoah, followed by Horus, Anubis, Sekhmet, Cobra and the Ankh. Low paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten. There is also a Wild symbol present, which substitutes for all symbols except Scatters. Wild symbols are only present on reels 2, 3 and 4 and will always appear with a Multiplier of x2 or x3.
Like it’s sibling slot The Dog House, Fortune of Giza doesn’t have any kind of thrilling feature to fall back on in the base game, this could be because of the huge potential on offer, courtesy of the Multiplier Wilds.
Fortune of Giza Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 5x your total bet and Free Spins. Before the Free Spins round starts, you will be awarded a random number of Free Spins through a 3×3 Wheel Grid. Once each Cell on the Wheel Grid reveals a number, they will be added together and the total amount is awarded.
During the Free Spins round, all Wilds that land on reels 2, 3 and 4 will become Sticky, remaining in their fixed positions for the duration of Free Spins. Similar to the base game, all Wilds will land with a Multiplier attached to them, which also remains until the end of Free Spins.
Please note, the Free Spins round does not have any Scatters present, so you will be unable to retrigger this round.
Fortune of Giza: Our Verdict
It’s a little frustrating to see another slot with an Egyptian theme, considering it wasn’t long ago that Pragmatic Play released Eye of Cleopatra and a rather adorable Cleocatra, so it’s tough to really appreciate Fortune of Giza for what it is. You may be exhausted with the theme, but what about Gameplay?
Maybe we’ve been so used to The Dog House for so long, but it kind of feels like Fortune of Giza is the knock-off equivalent. Fortune of Giza is not a terrible slot by any means, but why settle for Chicken when you could have Steak? Both The Dog House and Fortune of Giza are identical in a lot of ways, so basically pick your favourite.
Pragmatic Play has seemingly pushed the boat out slightly in terms of win potential here though with a 6,750x cap. This is exactly the same as The Dog House, with further confirms their striking similarities.
Overall, Fortune of Giza is The Dog House, but it’s not The Dog House in terms of appeal in our opinion.
If you’ve got a particular fondness for Egyptian Slots and The Dog House style gameplay then Fortune of Giza is well worth a spin. However, in our opinion, The Dog House has more overall appeal.
