Fortune Spells Buy Bonus Slot Review
Sunlight breaks through dark trunks at the edge of an Irish woodland glade, scattering into golden motes that drift across clover, ferns and bluebells. Fortune Spells Buy Bonus hides its sharpest edge in that prettiness, running on a 5×3, ten-line build.
The glade is glossy storybook art from Amusnet, the studio behind Trophy Rush Triple Boost, with grass creeping up over the gold-framed reels. The free spins round, with its randomly chosen expanding symbol, has to carry the case on its own.
Base Game & Features
The grid is a 5×3 layout with ten fixed lines, so every spin covers all of them and there’s nothing to configure beyond your stake. Wins pay left to right on those lines, and only the highest combination on each line counts. It’s a layout that needs no explaining.
The cast of symbols runs from the themed characters down to card royals. Wizard, Fairy, Gnome and Mushroom sit alongside A, K, Q, J and 10. The figures below are Wizard’s paytable.
- Two matching symbols: 0.10
- Three matching symbols: 1.00
- Four matching symbols: 10.00
- Five matching symbols: 50.00
The WILD/SCATTER symbol does double duty: it substitutes for all other symbols on the lines, and it pays as a scatter according to its own table, independent of paylines. A line made up entirely of wilds is paid as a scatter win rather than a line win.
Scatters are also the key to everything else in the game. Three or more of them anywhere on the screen opens the free spins round, and they’re the only route in unless you pay for the privilege.
Fortune Spells Buy Bonus Free Spins
Landing three or more WILD/SCATTER symbols at any position triggers twelve free spins with a Special Expanding Symbol. Before the round begins, one of the three character symbols, Wizard, Fairy or Gnome, is chosen at random to take that role for the whole round.
The chosen symbol expands to cover all three positions on its reel whenever it lands, and it pays in any position on the lines played, not just on adjacent reels from the left. That’s where the round’s real potential sits. An expanding character landing on multiple reels at once can turn a modest spin into the best-paying moment the game offers.
The order of events inside a spin matters more than it looks. Line wins containing WILD/SCATTER symbols are paid first, and only then does the selected symbol expand, so a spin can pay twice from the same set of reels. The WILD/SCATTER doesn’t substitute for the expanding symbol during the round.
The round runs on an alternate set of reels, played at the bet and lines active when it triggered, so your stake decision at the moment of entry governs everything that follows. Retriggers work simply: three or more scatters during the round award twelve new free spins with the same expanding symbol.
The reels rotate automatically until all free spins are completed and can’t be stopped early, so a hot round plays out without interruption. After it ends, the total won can be carried into a Gamble feature, provided the amount is at or below the limit set for the game. It’s the classic double-or-nothing option, and entirely optional.
Buy Bonus
The buy option is exactly what its name promises. For 100x your total bet you get twelve free spins, with entry guaranteed through three or more scatter symbols. It’s a flat, single-tier price: no pick-a-volatility menu, no choice of expanding symbol, just the standard round at a fixed cost.
- 12 free spins with a randomly chosen Special Expanding Symbol
- Price: 100x the total bet
- Guaranteed entry via 3 or more scatters
Jackpot Cards
Fortune Spells Buy Bonus also carries the Jackpot Cards feature, a four-level progressive that can trigger at random during play. Each level is marked by a card suit, and the current value and currency of each is displayed on the right side of the screen.
- Club – 1st level, lowest value
- Diamond – 2nd level
- Heart – 3rd level
- Spade – 4th level, the highest
It can’t be aimed for or bought; it arrives when it arrives. It’s a shared system across games that carry it, and it’s the only thing in this slot that can pay beyond what the reels themselves offer.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.2/10
Playing this is mostly waiting in a very pretty glade. The reels turn, the sunbeams drift, and not much happens until scatters line up or you stump up 100x for the round. That round is the reason anybody picks it: an expanding character paying in any position, across three full reel positions, can produce wins nothing else in the game gets near, and a retrigger can keep the good spell running.
The problem is everything you do between rounds.
It’s for players who already love the classic expanding-symbol formula and want it wrapped in lovely art, not for anyone who wants depth outside the bonus. If the glade and the round are what you came for, both are genuinely here.
