Gold Raiders Slot Review
A colossal stone hand, fingers broken at the knuckles, grips a carved disc beside the reels, and a toppled golden urn spills coins down a stepped plinth on the other side. It’s an Aztec-Mayan dig site in glossy, sunlit cartoon 3D, and the treasure is already out of the ground. Gold Raiders takes the same approach with its own paytable: the symbols barely matter, and the game knows it. Where a symbol lands is worth more than what it is, and no other slot makes geography quite this decisive.
Peter & Sons have built Gold Raiders around a 6×5 panel with scatter pays and cascades, where eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid pay out, and winning positions build Hotspot Multipliers that the next win cashes in. Wins cap at 5,000x the bet. The studio’s flair for oddball art runs through titles like Greedy Alice and Abrakadabra, and this one sits at the shinier end of their range.
Scatter Pays and the Paytable
Wins form when eight or more symbols of the same kind land anywhere on the 6×5 panel. Symbols don’t need to sit next to each other, and matching clusters of eight or nine pay the lowest tier, climbing as the count grows to fourteen or more. Winning symbols are then removed, new ones fall into the gaps, and cascades keep running for as long as new wins appear.
There’s no wild symbol in this game. The scatter is a purple-lady icon that appears on any reel in the base game and carries no prize of its own; it exists purely to trigger the free spins rounds. Everything else pays from the grid:
- Red-hat woman – 0.6x for 8-9, 1.2x for 10-11, 2.5x for 12-13, 5x for 14+ (of total bet)
- Blue camera man – 0.5x, 1x, 1.8x, 3.6x across the same tiers
- Green explorer – 0.4x, 0.6x, 1.2x, 2.5x
- Brown explorer – 0.4x, 0.6x, 1x, 2x
- Red heart and magenta spade – 0.3x, 0.4x, 0.6x, 1.2x
- Blue diamond and green club – 0.2x, 0.3x, 0.5x, 1x
Only the highest win counts per symbol, and simultaneous wins are added together. The values are modest at the bottom and never steep at the top, which tells you where the real money is meant to come from: the multipliers, not the symbols.
Hotspot Multipliers
Every winning position activates a Hotspot Multiplier on that cell. Win again on a hotspot and its multiplier grows by one. Multipliers at zero and one do nothing, but anything higher multiplies each symbol win it’s involved in, with the symbol’s payout multiplied by the sum of all hotspots it touches. All hotspots reset when the next base game round begins.
The consequence is that cells can matter as much as icons. A cluster of low-value clubs landing across a patch of built-up hotspots can out-pay a full screen of premium symbols.
The Rainbow Features
Two random modifiers can fire during play, both built on the hotspot system. They’re the moments the base game stops being patient and starts rearranging the board.
Base Rainbow
When eight or more hotspots are present on the panel, Base Rainbow can trigger. It picks those hotspots and transforms every instance of the chosen symbols into the same symbol type, guaranteeing a win. No cascade follows the Base Rainbow transformation.
Coin Rainbow
Coin Rainbow fires when active hotspot multipliers are on the board. It takes every active Hotspot Multiplier, applies them to its cell, and transforms that cell into winning coins. Each coin is multiplied by the hotspot it sits on, and every coin collected is paid out. Coins can carry values from 0.2x up to 500x the bet.
A grid carrying a few large multipliers can see them all converted at once, and the top coin value of 500x puts serious money inside a single feature. As with Base Rainbow, no cascade follows.
Free Spins and Super Free Spins
Three scatters unlock Free Spins, awarding ten spins at the same bet as the triggering round. Inside the bonus, the Rainbow features appear more often, and Hotspot Multipliers reset after each Rainbow feature rather than persisting. Free Spins cannot be retriggered, so the round you enter is the round you get.
Four or more scatters trigger the Super version, also ten spins. The difference is decisive: in Super Free Spins, Hotspot Multipliers do not reset until the session ends. Every win, every cascade and every Rainbow feature builds on the last, so the board’s value compounds across the whole round rather than clearing after each feature.
A Super round that strings together Rainbows over a mat of stacked hotspots is the game’s genuine ceiling, and wins beyond the cap are forfeited.
Golden Bet, Rainbow Bet and Bonus Buys
There are two opt-in bet modes and two outright buys, all priced as multiples of the stake:
- Golden Bet – pay 1.5x extra per bet to improve the chances of triggering Free Spins
- Rainbow Bet – pay 40x extra per bet to guarantee one of the Rainbow features fires, guaranteeing a win
- Buy Free Spins – 100x the bet for ten Free Spins
- Buy Super Free Spins – 250x the bet for ten Super Free Spins, with hotspots persisting through the round
The Rainbow Bet is the steep one of the four: 40x the stake buys a guaranteed feature and a guaranteed win, though a guaranteed win at these paytable values is no guarantee of profit on the spin that pays for it. Some features and options may not be available in every jurisdiction.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Most of a session on Gold Raiders is quiet digging. Wins trickle in, hotspots build underneath them, and the payoff arrives when the board finally gives up what it’s been hoarding. That’s the reason to choose it over a dozen shinier scatter-pays games: the tension sits on the grid, not in the paytable, and the Super round pays it off properly.
The multiplier system is the best thing here, because it makes a flat paytable irrelevant. The weakness is that everything funnels into one round: with no retriggers and a standard bonus that keeps resetting, a session can feel like a long wait between Super rounds, and 250x is a lot to pay to skip the queue.
This is one for players who enjoy the build as much as the payout, and for anyone who likes Peter & Sons’ particular brand of glossy oddity. Anyone after frequent bonus hits will find the pacing trying. For patient players, the temple pays out eventually, and it’s worth the wait.
Gold Raiders FAQs
-
How do you win in Gold Raiders?
Matching pays work on a scatter basis: any eight or more of the same symbol anywhere on the 6×5 grid forms a win, and the winning icons are cleared so fresh ones can drop in. -
What does the Hotspot Multiplier do?
It sits on a cell that has already produced a win and increases by one each time that cell wins again. Symbol wins are multiplied by the combined value of the hotspots they touch, and everything clears at the start of the next round. -
How do you trigger Free Spins in Gold Raiders?
Landing three scatters starts the standard ten-spin round at your current bet, and four or more upgrades you to Super Free Spins, where multipliers stay in place until the session ends. -
Can Free Spins be retriggered in Gold Raiders?
No. Retriggers aren’t part of this game, so whatever the triggering scatter count gives you is the complete bonus. -
What is the Golden Bet in Gold Raiders?
The Golden Bet is an opt-in mode costing 1.5x extra per bet that improves the chances of triggering the Free Spins round. -
What is the difference between Free Spins and Super Free Spins?
Both award ten spins, but the standard round clears its hotspot multipliers after each Rainbow feature. In the Super round they stay live throughout, so the board keeps compounding instead of resetting. -
What is the maximum win on Gold Raiders?
The game has a win cap of 5,000x the bet, and further wins beyond the cap are not awarded. -
When is Gold Raiders released?
Gold Raiders’ release date is 29 October 2026, and it’s made by Peter & Sons.
