Hellapenos Base Game and Features
Hellapenos is a 5-reel Video Slot with 100 connecting pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.10 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. Hellapenos has a theoretical RTP of 96.19% and a max win cap of 5,000x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Dog, followed by the Orange, Green, Purple, and Blue Hot Sauce Bottles. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten. Wilds substitute for all High and Low-paying symbols.
Multiplier Wilds
Special Multiplier Wild symbols with a value of x2 can appear randomly across the reels in both the base game and Free Spins round.
When one or more Multiplier Wilds are part of a winning combination, their Multiplier values will be applied to the win. The maximum Multiplier value from these symbols when forming a win is x8 (x2, x2, x2).
Random Wilds
When the first 2 leftmost reels land with the same symbols stacked, between 1 and 3 Multiplier Wilds will be added to the reels at random, on reels 3, 4, and 5.
Expanding Devil Symbol
During gameplay, a special Expanding Devil symbol can land on reels 3, 4, and 5 (1 per reel). If this symbol is part of a winning combination, it will expand to fill the entire reel it is currently on, acting as a Wild and substituting for all symbols except Scatters. If not expanded, it does not act as a Wild.
If an Expanding Devil symbol passes through 1 or 2 Multiplier Wilds, a x2 Multiplier value will be applied to the entire reel. If a winning combination includes more than 1 Expanding Devil symbol with a Multiplier, their values will first be multiplied together and applied to the win, up to a maximum of x64.
Hellapenos Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatter symbols on reels 3, 4, and 5 in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 7 Free Spins.
During Free Spins, Expanding Devil symbols that land on reels 3, 4, and 5 will activate that reel for the remainder of Free Spins. All activated reels will automatically bring forth a new Expanding Devil symbol for that reel on every spin.
If the Expanding Devil symbol is part of a winning combination, it will expand to fill the entire reel and the whole reel Wild. Please note, Expanding Devil symbols will not act as a Wild if not expanded.

Hellapenos: Our Verdict
Hellapenos doesn’t display any features that are completely innovative, but it’s fun, well-built, capable and familiar with faithful features that never fail to impress. We see an element of Hacksaw Gaming in Thunderkick’s latest rendition. It’s sort of like the RIP City and the reskinned festive variant, Christmas Drop. They’re not bad games to be compared to, and Hellapenos comes equipped with little extras to make it even more appealing.
Landing stacked symbols on the first two reels triggers a random wilds feature, and landing the Expanding Devil symbol on the same spin can yield significant returns, making the Base Game quite exciting.
Of course, Free Spins is where it’s at, and what a game it can be if you’re lucky enough to land 3 Expanding Devil Symbols. Even one symbol performed fairly well in the rounds we tried, but you’re always looked for those extra wilds to up the ante.
At its best, Hellapenos is capable of up to 5,000x. A fairly standard win cap, though we’d have liked to see 10,000x or more.
Overall, Hellapenos may not bring anything new to the table, but we certainly weren’t disappointed with the result.
