Base Game & Features

Junkyard Kings 2 is a highly volatile (4/5) video slot, featuring 7 reels, 7 rows, and a Cluster Pays mechanic. Each winning cluster is made up of 5+ identical symbols that land horizontally or vertically on the grid. 

The Rat Poison has the highest pay value, followed by the Bear Trap, Mouse Trap, Cheese, and A, K, Q, & J royals. After each spin is complete, all winning combinations award a fixed payout between 0.2x and 500x your bet. 

Additionally, the Avalanche Feature guarantees to remove all winning clusters from the grid, creating space for new symbols to drop in from above. This enables consecutive wins to occur within the same spin cycle. 

Cell Multipliers

For every paytable symbol part of a winning cluster, its cell position will reveal a Multiplier of x2, which increases by +x1 for every new winning cluster it is a part of, up to a maximum of x100.

Each Cell Multiplier involved in a winning cluster will apply to its payout value. If multiple Cell Multipliers are part of the same winning cluster, their values are added together before being applied to its payout. 

Wild Features

Throughout gameplay, several Wild symbols may appear on the grid, awarding the following Features:

• Wilds: Substitute for all symbols as part of a win, appearing in the base game & Free Spins modes. 
• Booster Wilds: Increase the Multiplier of its current cell position by x2, x3, x4, x5, or x10 before transforming into a regular Wild symbol. 
• Permanent Booster Wilds: Follow the same behaviour as Booster Wilds, except they remain on the grid after applying their feature. After being part of a win, they will move to a new cell position that was also part of the winning cluster. Permanent Booster Wilds are removed with the next base game spin, but remain in view during Free Spins. 
• Walking Wilds: Move 2-10 steps across the grid, leaving a trail of regular Wild symbols in its path. 
• Permanent Walking Wilds: Follow the same behaviour as Walking Wilds, except they remain in view after applying their feature. Permanent Walking Wilds are removed in the next base game spin, but continue to stick during the Free Spins mode.

Landing 3 Scatters in the same base game spin awards 10 Free Spins. 

This mode keeps to the same base game mechanics, where Cell Multipliers are progressive on the grid. Each Scatter symbol awards an additional +1 Free Spin. 

Rule The Yard Bonus

Alternatively, landing 4 Scatter symbols in the base game triggers the Rule The Yard Bonus, awarding 10 Free Spins. 

Again, this mode keeps the same mechanics found in the original Free Spins mode, where at least 1 Permanent Booster or Walking Wild is guaranteed on the first spin. Having 1 Scatter symbol in view awards an additional +1 Free Spin.

Our Honest Verdict

Junkyard Kings for us was one of Bullshark Games’ defining releases. Many in the Hacksaw OpenRGS universe look and feel, for the most part, like a Hacksaw-made title. 

We’ll not speculate too much about the allowable creativity under that banner, and even if we did, Junkyard Kings 2 and its predecessor would make a strong case for the studios’ creative freedom.

Junkyard Kings 2 sticks closely to the core blueprint of the original but pushes things further with a higher 20,000x max win potential and a slightly adjusted 96.29% RTP. The most notable changes come through its reworked Wild Features, replacing simple doubling mechanics with Booster variants that apply a range of multiplier values, alongside added Permanent versions of both Booster & Walking Wilds.

The sequel also splits its bonus into two distinct Free Spins modes, with the upgraded “Rule The Yard” mode guaranteeing a persistent wild from the outset. While the grid, Cluster Pays setup, and Cell Multiplier system remain familiar, the sequel introduces more variation in how multipliers are applied and how wilds behave across spins.

Cluster Pays titles can be quite tricky to get right. Many have tried, and most have faded into irrelevance, yet Junkyard Kings stands out as a memorable offering for both its theme and features, and we think Junkyard Kings 2 furthers the series so far in a meaningful way

All in all, it’s a job well done to Bullshark, who thus far seems to be Hacksaw Gaming’s premier partner.
