Legend of Cleopatra Megaways Slot Review
Legend of Cleopatra Megaways hides its best mechanic in the one place most players won’t look: a row of symbols above the reels that refuses to move while everything beneath it collapses. Beneath two violet pyramids and a gilded temple gateway, that single stubborn strip carries every multiplier in the game, and it’s the reason this is more than another Egyptian Megaways reskin.
Playson run it on a 6×4 grid with variable rows, Megaways style, opening anywhere from 324 to 200,704 ways to win. The Top Bonus Row above the reels never collapses with the rest of the board, and that single rule is where the whole game turns. The studio’s Thunder Coins XXL: Booster Cells and Clover Smash both built their action on persistent collector mechanics too, so this is familiar territory done at full scale.
Base Game & Features
The base game runs on collapsing wins. Any symbol that takes part in a winning combination collapses out of the grid, and random symbols drop into the empty positions. Symbols on the Top Bonus Row are the exceptions; they stay where they are.
If the new symbols form another win, they collapse too, and the chain keeps running until no more wins are available. It’s a cascade in everything but name, and a collapse sequence at full burn comes wrapped in the game’s fire animation, with the running win total climbing as each step lands.
Worth spelling out step by step, because the order matters:
- A winning combination lands and pays
- The winning symbols collapse out of the grid
- Random symbols drop into the empty positions, except on the Top Bonus Row
- Any new win pays, and the sequence repeats
- The chain stops when no further win forms
The rules of the board are straightforward:
- Wins pay left to right on adjacent reels
- Only the highest combination per way counts
- The wild lands on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, substituting for all symbols
- The wild never appears on the Top Bonus Row
- There is no stated maximum win figure for this game
The Top Bonus Row and Scarab Multipliers
Above the main grid sits the Top Bonus Row, and it behaves by its own rules. It doesn’t join the collapse cycle, so the symbols there stay put while the reels churn beneath them. The row is stable; everything else is temporary. That’s the design in one line.
Scarab Badges collect on those stationary symbols, up to three per symbol, and every badge carries a multiplier, with x5 as the illustrated example. Because the row doesn’t collapse with ordinary wins, the badges accumulate in place while the base game works underneath.
That persistence changes how a collapse chain reads. Every win below the row is a small event that ends and clears; every badge added above it is a permanent gain that survives the churn. Two clocks, running at different speeds.
The row’s rules in full:
- Scarab Badges appear on Top Bonus Row symbols only
- Each Top Bonus Row symbol can hold up to three Scarab Badges
- Badges carry multipliers, x5 in the game’s shown example
- The row ignores normal collapses entirely
- Clearing every symbol on the row is the free spins trigger
Symbol Values
Cleopatra leads the paytable and is the only symbol paying for two-of-a-kind. All values are multiples of the line stake:
- Cleopatra: 2x for two
- Cleopatra: 4x for three
- Cleopatra: 7.5x for four
- Cleopatra: 20x for five
- Cleopatra: 40x for six
- Green Falcon (Horus): 0.6x for three
- Green Falcon (Horus): 1.25x for four
- Green Falcon (Horus): 2x for five
- Green Falcon (Horus): 4x for six
The gap between the two is wide. Cleopatra at six-of-a-kind pays ten times what the Falcon manages, and she’s the only symbol that rewards a pair, which makes her the one to watch on a short chain where the extra reel positions haven’t filled yet.
Legend of Cleopatra Megaways Free Spins & Bonus
The Free Spins Bonus has one trigger, and it’s a demanding one: every symbol on the Top Bonus Row must collapse. Since the row ignores the normal cascade cycle, clearing it means the badges and symbols up there are consumed by their own mechanic rather than washed away with a win.
The bonus moment announces itself plainly: BONUS text stamped across the reel, with the count shown alongside. When it arrives, the Scarab Badges accumulated on the row carry the multiplier weight into the round, so what the base game built becomes what the bonus spends.
That’s the shape of the whole game. A top row loaded with three-badge symbols at trigger time is the outcome the base game assembles the whole way there, and the row is both the route in and the reward.
Bonus Buy
For players who’d rather skip the build, the Buy Bonus is priced at 100x the bet, a flat price for the Free Spins Bonus. It’s the only purchase option in the game:
- Buy Bonus (Free Spins): 100x the bet
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a slow burn with a lovely view. Sessions settle into a rhythm of small collapsing wins while the real interest accumulates quietly overhead, scarab by scarab, and the pull of the game is watching that top row fill. Egypt has rarely been painted this well, which matters more than you’d think when the bonus takes its time.
The smartest thing here is that the base game and the bonus aren’t separate games; every badge collected on the way in is weight carried into the free spins, so nothing you do before the trigger is wasted. The problem is the trigger itself. Clearing a row that’s specifically designed never to move is a genuinely hard ask, and the 100x buy is the game’s own admission of it.
For players who like watching a build come together, and Megaways fans after something structurally different rather than another coat of hieroglyphs, this is a confident yes. Anyone who wants bonus rounds arriving fast will find the pace infuriating, and the pyramids aren’t going to hurry for them.
