Lightning Tiger Slot Review
Most slot jackpots grow when you bet more; this game’s don’t. Lightning Tiger pays its four top prizes as fixed amounts that no bet multiplier touches, which makes it an oddity among jackpot slots and quietly reshapes what raising your stake is actually for. Raise it here and you’re buying better odds or bigger prize values, not scaling a ladder. Lightning Box Games built the whole game around that choice, jungle temple and all.
It runs on a 5×3 grid with 243 ways and a 96.13% RTP, sitting alongside Lightning Leopard, Ember Link Heaven’s Peak and ChongFu Jiangpin Emperor’s Crown in the studio’s catalogue. Rubies and bolts do the work here, the tiger stands in for everything else, and what the temple keeps, the storm pays back.
243 Ways and the Wild Tiger
Wins pay left to right on consecutive reels, and any position counts. With 243 ways across the 5×3 grid, there are no paylines to follow: matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left will do it, at a flat bet of 40. Only the highest win is paid per combination, and coinciding wins add together.
The ways mechanic has one refinement worth knowing. Only positions actually containing the winning symbol count towards that symbol’s win, so a reel carrying the symbol somewhere still contributes exactly one position to the combination. Gaps don’t matter; presence does.
Every regular win is multiplied by the bet multiplier, with one exception. Scatter Ruby wins are multiplied by the total bet instead, which makes the ruby the one symbol that scales differently from the rest.
The Wild Tiger substitutes for all symbols except the two scatters, and it only appears on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. That keeps it out of the leftmost reel, so it can complete wins but never start them. Each symbol can only be used once per winning combination, so a stacked wild won’t inflate the same win twice.
Both scatters are present during regular play. Scatter Ruby shows up in the base game and in Free Games, while the Scatter Lightning Bolt carries its own prize values and waits for enough of them to land at once. Those bolt values are only collected once the feature they trigger is under way.
Lightning Respin
Landing 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13 Scatter Lightning Bolts triggers the Lightning Respin. The triggering bolts award their prize values at the end of the feature, and three initial respins are granted to build on that start. It’s a wide trigger range, but the upper end of it is a rare sight by design.
From there, the round plays out in a loop:
- Between one and five active reels are chosen at random for the respin.
- Any Lightning Bolt landing on an active reel is collected, and the respin count resets to three.
- Bolts landing on inactive reels are lost, and they don’t reset anything.
- When zero respins remain, every collected jackpot and prize pays to the win meter.
Active reels are surrounded by electricity; dimmed reels are inactive. The random reel count is the feature’s real engine of variance – a single active reel can strangle a promising start, while five of them turns every spin into a collection chance.
Colossal Lightning Bolts can land on any spin and split into individual bolts. If a colossal lands only partly in an active reel, the prizes outside the active area don’t count.
Bolt prize values, in credits at the minimum stake, run through:
- 20 credits
- 40 credits
- 80 credits
- 120 credits
- 160 credits
- 200 credits
- 300 credits
- 400 credits
- 600 credits
- 800 credits
- 1,200 credits
- 2,000 credits
- 4,000 credits
Regular paytable prizes aren’t awarded during the respin, so the feature is entirely about bolt collection. It’s played at the triggering bet throughout.
Lightning Jackpot
Four fixed jackpots sit above the reels, collected when a Mini, Minor, Major or Grand Lightning Bolt lands on a triggering spin or inside an active reel during the respin. A colossal jackpot symbol splits into multiple individual jackpots, and every tier can be won more than once in a single respin. The ladder, top to bottom:
- Grand – the top of the ladder
- Major – the second tier
- Minor – the third tier
- Mini – the smallest of the four
These prizes are fixed rather than progressive, and they aren’t multiplied by the bet multiplier. Raising your bet multiplier either improves the odds of landing a jackpot or increases the prizes themselves. Because each tier can repeat within one respin, the Grand isn’t a once-per-round prize either – a long collection run can stack it.
Fixed jackpots mean the ladder never grows, but they also mean every spin carries the same four prizes.
Free Games
Three, four or five Scatter Rubies trigger the Free Games, awarding:
- 3 rubies: 8 free games
- 4 rubies: 15 free games
- 5 rubies: 30 free games
Colossal symbols can land on any free spin and split into individual symbols, on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 only. The colossal set includes the Lightning jackpot, the Lightning Bolt, Baboon, Peacock, Snake, Butterfly and Lizard, so a single split can scatter several wins or prizes across the grid.
Enough Lightning Bolts during Free Games will still trigger a respin, which then plays out in full before the remaining free games resume. The two features don’t compete for space; they queue. Free Games run at the triggering bet.
Retriggers work with a small twist: only 3 or 4 Scatter Rubies retrigger the round, never five. Round the reels into three or four rubies again and the counter refills; five of them pays nothing extra here.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.6/10
This is a game you play for the collection loop, not the reels. Most of a session is quiet jungle waiting, punctuated by the odd ruby or bolt, and the reason to choose it over flashier tiger-and-temple slots is that respin: electricity crawling across a random handful of reels while the count ticks back to three again and again.
The random active reels are what make it work – no two respins play the same, and a lucky run can stack the same jackpot twice. What lets it down is that the Grand is a fixed prize that never grows.
Jungle collectors and fixed-jackpot players will feel at home here. Anyone chasing a big multiplier should keep walking past the temple.
Lightning Tiger FAQs
-
What is the RTP of Lightning Tiger?
The RTP is 96.13%, and it applies with any bet size. -
How do you trigger the Lightning Respin in Lightning Tiger?
Landing 6 or more Scatter Lightning Bolts triggers it, with anywhere from 6 to 13 bolts counting. You get three respins, bolts only collect on active reels, and any collected bolt resets the count back to three. -
What do Colossal Symbols do in Lightning Tiger?
They’re 2×2 and 3×3 symbols that split into multiple individual jackpots and prizes, including the Lightning jackpot, Lightning Bolt, Baboon, Peacock, Snake, Butterfly and Lizard. They only appear on reels 2 to 5, during Free Games and Lightning Respins. -
Are the jackpots in Lightning Tiger progressive?
No. The Mini, Minor, Major and Grand jackpots are fixed prizes that don’t scale with your bet multiplier – a higher multiplier instead improves your odds of landing one or lifts the prize itself. -
How many free games can you win in Lightning Tiger?
Three, four or five Scatter Rubies award 8, 15 or 30 free games respectively. The round retriggers with 3 or 4 rubies only, so five rubies doesn’t add extra games. -
Can the Lightning Respin trigger during Free Games?
Yes. Landing 6 or more Lightning Bolts inside the free games starts a full Lightning Respin, and once it finishes the game returns to whatever free games remain. -
What happens to a Lightning Bolt that lands on an inactive reel?
Nothing. Bolts on dimmed, inactive reels aren’t collected and they don’t reset the respin count. Only bolts landing inside active reels – the ones surrounded by electricity – count towards the collection. -
Who makes Lightning Tiger?
Lightning Box Games. The studio’s other titles include Lightning Leopard and Ember Link Heaven’s Peak. -
How many paylines does Lightning Tiger have?
It’s a 243 ways game on a flat bet of 40. Any position on consecutive reels from the left counts towards a win, so there are no paylines to follow.
