Ember Link Heaven’s Peak Slot Review
A pagoda sits above the gold-framed reels, blue-tiled and upturned at the eaves, meteors streaking past a temple tower on a cloud-wreathed slope. Most slot designers would stop at the scenery and let a free spins round do the work. Ember Link Heaven’s Peak instead puts its entire payout model on two birds and a pile of Orbs, and the line pays alone barely matter.
It’s a Lightning Box Games release built around a paired Phoenix system: one bird collects, the other boosts, and together they drive three respin modes. Five reels, uneven column heights, 40 paylines, and no published RTP. The studio also made Lightning Leopard, and the polished, feature-first approach carries over. The respin ladder is where the money sits, and reaching it takes patience.
Base Game & Features
The reels sit in uneven columns, roughly 3-4-3-4-3 rows high across the five reels, and the reel heights can grow during the respin modes. There are 40 fixed paylines, with wins paid left to right. The layout gives the base game a fuller, busier look than a flat 5×3 grid.
Two Phoenixes sit at the centre of the base game, one orange and one green, and both land only on reels 1 and 5. When a Phoenix partially appears on a reel, it nudges to cover every position on that reel, so a sighting rarely stays small. The Wild, a King image, appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 only.
The Wild substitutes for everything except the two Phoenixes and the Orb. That exclusion is deliberate: those three symbols carry the entire bonus structure, and the Wild can’t shortcut any of it.
Symbol Values
The top line pays are combinations of a Phoenix and Wilds, quoted in credits at the minimum bet of 1.44 credits. Either Phoenix works with either colour of the pair, and the Wild fills the middle positions.
- Phoenix + Wild (two of a kind): 3 credits
- Phoenix + Wild + Wild (three of a kind): 25 credits
- Phoenix + Wild + Wild + Wild (four of a kind): 225 credits
- Phoenix + Wild + Wild + Wild + Phoenix (five of a kind): 300 credits
The card royals carry their own values below these. But the paytable’s line prizes are not where the game’s real economy lives; that sits with the Orbs.
The Orb and the Prize Ladder
The Orb is the game’s scatter-like carrier of value. It displays one of four jackpot labels, MINI, MINOR, MAJOR or GRAND, or a cash prize, and lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the base game. Orb prizes at the minimum bet run from 15 up to 125 credits. Any Orb that triggers a respin mode pays out its displayed value at the end of that round.
A four-tier jackpot meter sits on screen, with MAJOR and GRAND as progressive pots that tick up from zero. The Colossal Symbols can split into multiple jackpot and prize awards, so one round can pay several tiers at once.
- MINI – 5.00 at the 1.44 credit bet
- MINOR – 50.00 at the 1.44 credit bet
- MAJOR – progressive
- GRAND – progressive
Ember Link Heaven’s Peak Bonus Features
Everything in the bonus structure flows from the two Phoenixes and the Orbs. Land five or more Orbs and a respin is guaranteed; add a Phoenix and you’re into one of three named modes, each with its own flavour of boost. The Phoenixes decide which one you get.
What Each Phoenix Does
The green Phoenix awards all landed Orb prizes in one sweep. The orange one takes a different route: it boosts every landed Orb prize by 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75 or 125 credits.
When both land together, the green collects first, then the orange boosts and awards, so you get the boosted total rather than the raw sweep. It’s a tidy piece of internal logic that rewards seeing the pair together.
The Three Respin Modes
- Red Respins – any orange Phoenix with 5, 6, 7 or 8 Orbs. Orb prizes are boosted, and 2×2 and 3×3 Colossal Symbols can appear.
- Green Respins – any green Phoenix with 5, 6, 7 or 8 Orbs. There’s a random chance to increase reel height, Colossal Symbols appear, and the Orb lands on all reels for the round.
- Super Respins – both Phoenixes together with 5, 6, 7 or 8 Orbs. Prizes are boosted, reel height can grow, and the Orb again lands on all reels.
The reel-height growth matters more than it sounds. Starting from uneven 3-4-3-4-3 columns, extra rows multiply the space Orbs and Colossals can occupy, and with the Orb live on every reel during Green and Super Respins, a taller grid can fill fast.
Colossal Symbols
Colossal Symbols come in 2×2, 3×3 and 5×5 sizes. The 2×2 and 3×3 versions appear in all three respin modes; the 5×5 appears in Green and Super Respins only.
Each Colossal splits into multiple jackpots and prizes when it pays, which is how a single round can clear several tiers of the ladder at once. Combined with the orange Phoenix’s boost landing on top, the ceiling of one good Super Respin is far above anything the base game pays.
During play the game signals the mechanics clearly: boost messages when the orange Phoenix lands, collection prompts when any Phoenix appears with Orbs on the board, and respin warnings whenever five Orbs build up. The triggers are visible before they resolve, which builds tension as the fifth Orb drops.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Playing this is one long climb to the respins, and the game knows it. You stack Orbs, you watch reels 1 and 5, and the temple scenery carries you through the quiet stretches. That’s the reason to sit down at it: when both Phoenixes finally land with a board full of Orbs, the payout moment is worth the whole wait.
The best thing about it is that the two birds genuinely matter. Collect, boost, or collect-then-boost, and the order changes what you take home, which is more real decision-making in the maths than most collect-and-boost games offer. The worst is the base game itself: line pays top out at 300 credits and there’s little between them, so long stretches pay close to nothing.
This one suits patient players who like a long build towards a single collecting moment, and the Super Respins in particular reward them for it. Players who want frequent small features will find the mountain air thin. For the patient, the peak is there.
