Lucky Totems Slot Review
A jungle clearing so crowded the wildlife watches the reels: a chameleon on a tree trunk to the left, a snake coiled around a branch up top, monstera leaves crowding in behind a frame of vine-bound planks. Lucky Totems takes the same maximalist approach to its maths. Thirty positions on a 5×6 grid, with symbols that pay anywhere, is more room to build a win in than most tumbler games ever hand you, and this one is built to use every inch of it.
It runs at 96.04% RTP, and the paytable tops out with a mask worth 500x for five of a kind. Playzia keep it lean elsewhere: a tumble mechanic clears winners after every spin, and the free spins round climbs a multiplier with each cascade. The foliage and the things living in it make the quieter spells easy on the eye.
Base Game & Features
Play happens on a 5×6 grid with no paylines at all. Symbols pay anywhere: land three or more of a kind, in any position, and the win is awarded according to the count. It’s a scatter-pays arrangement, and it’s the reason a grid this tall works, since every position on every reel counts equally.
A WILD appears on all reels and substitutes for every symbol except the scatter. That’s its whole job, and it does it without ceremony.
Tumble Feature
After every spin, the tumble mechanic takes over. It works in four steps:
- Winning combinations are paid out.
- All winning symbols disappear from the grid.
- The remaining symbols fall to the bottom, and new symbols fill the empty positions from above.
- Tumbling repeats until a tumble produces no new winning combinations.
All wins are added to the balance only after every tumble from the original spin has finished, so a single spin can chain several payouts before it’s done. Because the tumbles feed on the pay-anywhere counting, a win that clears a cluster of five or more symbols can cascade several times over, each refill offering a fresh set of symbols across all 30 positions.
Symbols and Pays
Wins are paid as multiples of the total bet, for three, four and five of a kind. Several totems share a tier, so the table groups them:
- Blue Mask (orange accents): three pay 10x, four pay 50x, five pay 500x
- Blue/Cyan Monkey Totem: three pay 5x, four pay 50x, five pay 250x
- Red Totem and Cyan Totem: three pay 2.5x, four pay 25x, five pay 125x
- Green, Pink, Purple and Orange Totems: three pay 1x, four pay 5x, five pay 50x
The mask does the heavy lifting at the top of the ladder, and the four lowest totems all share a single pay tier, so the middle of the table is where the spread sits. Scatters complete the symbol set: they appear on all reels and don’t pay anything themselves.
Lucky Totems Free Spins & Bonus Round
Scatter Trigger
Three or more scatter symbols, in any position, award 10 free spins. Their only function is to open the bonus round, and they can land on every reel in the game.
The Free Spins Multiplier
Inside the round, each spin starts with a 1x multiplier. Every cascade win within that spin adds +1x to it, and each individual cascade’s win is multiplied by the current value and added to the spin’s total.
The multiplier’s behaviour can be summed up in three rules:
- Each free spin begins at 1x.
- Each successive cascade within the same spin raises the multiplier by +1x.
- The multiplier resets to 1x at the start of every new free spin, so no value carries between spins.
Free spins play at the same bet value as the triggering spin. Put together with the tumble mechanic, the multiplier is where the grid’s size pays off: a long cascade chain on a tall 5×6 layout can climb it quickly, and one good spin can outpay the whole rest of the round.
A worked example makes the arithmetic clear. Land a win on the first cascade of a free spin and it pays at 1x. If that tumble produces another win, it pays at 2x, the next at 3x, and so on until a tumble comes up empty. The spin’s total is the sum of all those multiplied wins.
Worth spelling out: the multiplier only climbs on wins, so a free spin whose first cascade produces nothing pays nothing at all, at 1x on an empty spin. The ladder rewards spins that keep winning, not spins that merely keep spinning, and a cluster of low totems deep in a chain can be worth more than the mask paying out on its own.
Bonus Buy
For players who’d rather skip the wait, the free spins round can be bought outright from the base game. The terms are simple:
- Price: 50x the current total bet
- What you get: the free spins round, triggered instantly
- How it plays: exactly like a triggered round, including the per-spin multiplier
The buy button sits in the bottom-right corner of the base-game frame, and the price scales with your stake, so it costs the same proportion of your balance at any bet level. At a minimum stake the buy costs the same 50x, and at maximum stake likewise; there’s no discount for buying big and no surcharge for buying small.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing this is a cycle of small clears and near misses, punctuated by the odd chain that runs three or four cascades deep, and that chase is the reason to pick it: the grid is big enough that a running chain genuinely feels like it might not stop. The jungle holds up in the quiet stretches, too. The snake and the chameleon never say much, but they’re good company.
The free spins multiplier is the best thing in it. Resetting to 1x every spin makes each of the ten a fresh climb rather than a slow accumulation, so a single deep cascade can outpay the other nine combined. That’s a braver design than a carry-over ladder, and it pays off.
The weakness is the base game. A wild and some tumbles, competent and familiar, with four of the seven totems sharing one modest pay tier. Still, for players who love watching a cascade run, there’s a lot to enjoy here, and the clearing it all happens in is a lovely place to sit.
Lucky Totems FAQs
-
What is the RTP of Lucky Totems?
The RTP is 96.04%. On this game that’s the total expected return, so it’s the figure to quote rather than any base-game-only number. -
How do the free spins trigger in Lucky Totems?
Land three or more scatter symbols anywhere on the grid and you’re awarded 10 free spins. Scatters can appear on all reels and pay nothing themselves. -
How does the free spins multiplier work?
Each free spin starts at 1x, and every cascade win within that spin adds +1x to the multiplier. Each cascade’s win is multiplied by the current value, and the multiplier resets to 1x at the start of the next free spin. -
Does the free spins multiplier carry between spins?
No. The multiplier resets to 1x at the start of every free spin, so a value built up on one spin doesn’t help the next. Every spin climbs from the bottom. -
Does Lucky Totems have paylines?
No. Symbols pay anywhere on the grid, with wins awarded by the number of matching symbols regardless of their position. -
What is the grid size of Lucky Totems?
It’s a 5×6 grid, five reels wide and six rows tall, which gives the tumble mechanic plenty of room to build cascade chains. -
Can you buy the bonus on Lucky Totems?
Yes. The free spins round can be bought from the base game for 50x your current total bet, and it plays exactly like a triggered round. -
What does the wild symbol do in Lucky Totems?
The wild stands in for every paying symbol on the grid, on any reel. Scatters are the one exception, so it can’t help trigger the free spins round. -
When is Lucky Totems released?
Lucky Totems’ release date is 24 September 2026. -
Who makes Lucky Totems?
Playzia. It’s their tribal totem slot set in a tropical jungle clearing.
