Magnificent Power Spartan Slot Review
A blood-red canyon arena, torches guttering, a crowd baying below a golden reel frame – and for your first stretch of spins, almost none of it matters. Magnificent Power Spartan holds its best three systems behind a coin meter, and the plain truth is that what you unlock at sixty coins is the game; everything before it is the price. Few slots are this upfront about making you grind for their real content.
It’s an Oros Gaming build in the Magnificent Power line, sitting alongside Magnificent Power Apollo and Magnificent Power Bastet. Spartan runs at 96.20% RTP, high volatility, on a 5×4 grid with 1,024 ways that grows to 4,096 when a sixth reel unlocks. Stakes run from 0.20 to 20.00 a spin.
Base Game & Features
The reels start as a 5×4 layout paying across 1,024 ways, left to right on adjacent reels. A way uses one position per reel starting from the leftmost, and only positions holding the winning symbol count towards it. If several combinations land on a single way, the highest one pays and the rest are dropped.
Hit frequency sits at 37.39%, so a little under two spins in five connect somewhere. The sixth reel isn’t cosmetic. When it opens the grid grows to 6×4 and the ways quadruple to 4,096, and the top-paying symbols only reach their six-of-a-kind tier once it’s live.
The paytable is a flat one. All values below are multiples of stake.
- Gold Helmet: 0.5x for two, 1x for three, 1.5x for four, 2x for five, 2.5x for six
- Dagger/Knife: 0.5x for two, 1x for three, 1.5x for four, 2x for five, 2.5x for six
- Crossed Swords: 0.2x for two, 0.8x for three, 1.2x for four, 1.5x for five
- Sword/Scroll: 0.2x for two, 0.8x for three, 1.2x for four, 1.5x for five, 2x for six
- A: 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 1.2x for five, 1.5x for six
- K: 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 1.2x for five, 1.5x for six
- Q: 0.4x for three, 0.8x for four, 1x for five, 1.2x for six
- Spartan Warrior (red): 0.6x for two, 1.2x for three
Way wins pay based on the initial bet, which is the total bet divided by a way cost of 20, so the paytable reads the same at every stake. Wilds land on reels two to five only, substitute for high and low paying symbols, and carry no payout of their own. They matter far more than that suggests, because everything in this game runs off them.
Magnificent Power Feature
Coins can appear on any high or low paying symbol, and one or more wilds on screen collect every coin showing. The meter has two thresholds, and both pay out their changes at the start of the next game.
- 30 coins: the base game wild upgrades to a Random Multiplier Wild worth 1x, 2x or 3x, where the multiplier is the number of ways the wild position counts for
- 60 coins: the Jackpot Spins feature, the Wild Spins feature, the Bonus symbol and the sixth reel all switch on
Until the second threshold, three of the game’s systems simply don’t exist. The base game you’re actually playing is the wilds, the falls and a paytable that tops out at 2.5x. There’s no ceiling printed anywhere either, so the top end is something you take on faith.
Falling Wild Feature
Whenever a wild lands, wins pay out first. If it landed in the top three rows it then drops one position and the reels respin with high and low paying symbols only, paying again each time. The fall continues until the wild settles on the bottom row.
Once the upgrade is unlocked, a Falling Wild is always a Random Multiplier Wild. Coins still collect during these respins until the sixth reel opens, but the Bonus symbol and both spins features can’t appear while it’s running. If they trigger on the same spin, the fall finishes first.
Magnificent Power Spartan Bonus Features
Once unlocked, the Bonus symbol appears in the base game only, and it can trigger either the Jackpot Spins or the Wild Spins, never both. If it doesn’t trigger a feature it accumulates, and it can add one to either meter. Both meters reset to three once their feature finishes, so the count always starts again from the bottom.
Jackpot Extra Spins
This round plays out the number of spins on the Jackpot Spins meter, capped at ten. The reels are special ones carrying Jackpot symbols, Jackpot Extra Spin symbols and blanks only, and every Jackpot Extra Spin symbol adds one to the remaining total.
Nothing pays until the end. The award is decided by how many Jackpot and Jackpot Extra Spin symbols have accumulated across the whole run, and landing a Bonus symbol during the round can add a further spin. The reel count matches whatever the triggering spin had, so the round is richer on a full 6×4 grid than it is before the sixth reel opens.
Wild Extra Spins
Wild Spins runs on the same meter logic, up to ten spins, but its bonus reels carry Wild symbols, the highest paying high symbol and blanks. The Falling Wild feature runs throughout, and with the upgrade unlocked every wild is a Random Multiplier Wild that always carries 2x or 3x.
The falls don’t eat the spin count. The round only ends when the spins are spent and the last fall has finished, so a single wild near the top row can keep the paying going well past its turn. Bets and ways stay exactly as they were on the triggering spin.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Spartan is a long march before the battle. You feed the coin meter spin by spin while the arena watches, and the one reason to choose it over a friendlier game is exactly that: the full version, sitting behind sixty coins, is a different and much better slot than the one you start on.
Wild Spins justifies the whole design. Multiplier wilds that fall without ever spending a spin can turn one round into a genuinely long paying run, and it’s the one part of the build that feels worth everything you paid to reach it. The weakness is that the meter resets both feature counters to three after every round, so the good version of the game keeps slipping back out of reach.
This is one for players who like a long build and don’t mind a thin stretch to get there. Anyone who wants a bonus inside the first few minutes of a session will hate the canyon. Those with the patience for it will find the gates well worth opening.
