Mayhem Slot Review
A desert crossroads with nowhere left to go: wrecked road signs, scrawled arrows pointing to “NO WAY” and “THAT WAY”, and a leaning plank hoarding where the word MAYHEM hangs in chipped gold with an anarchy-A bolted in place of the first letter. It’s an apt signpost, because Red Tiger has thrown out most of the rulebook here: the base paytable on these five reels and 20 win lines is genuinely thin, and the game only makes sense once the Cash Queen arrives and starts locking the grid in place.
The claim: one symbol carries the whole game. Everything on these five reels and 20 win lines feeds a single towering wild who locks her wins in place and keeps the reels moving until they stop paying her. The numbers are plain: a 95.71% RTP, a hit rate of 34.12%, stakes from 0.10 to 50 per spin, and a ceiling of 1,200x the bet. It’s a modest target next to the studio’s louder outings like Dragon’s Fire Megaways and Piggy Riches 2 Megaways.
How the Base Game Pays
Mayhem runs on a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed win lines. All symbols pay left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel, and only the highest win per line counts. The paytable splits into four themed symbols and five royals, with the dollar sign on top.
- $ (Dollar) – 3 pays 1x, 4 pays 3x, 5 pays 7.5x the line bet
- Helmet – 3 pays 0.8x, 4 pays 2.5x, 5 pays 5x
- Grenade – 3 pays 0.6x, 4 pays 2x, 5 pays 3x
- Lips – 3 pays 0.4x, 4 pays 1.2x, 5 pays 2.5x
- A – 3 pays 0.3x, 4 pays 0.8x, 5 pays 1.5x
- K – 3 pays 0.2x, 4 pays 0.6x, 5 pays 1.2x
- Q – 3 pays 0.2x, 4 pays 0.5x, 5 pays 1x
- J – 3 pays 0.1x, 4 pays 0.4x, 5 pays 0.8x
- 10 – 3 pays 0.1x, 4 pays 0.3x, 5 pays 0.6x
Those are flat numbers, and they tell you the base game isn’t where the money lives. The themed symbols hold a clear gap over the royals, but even the top of the table is modest, and it tapers fast from there. Win lines pay left to right on adjacent reels only, so there’s no scatter-pays flexibility to soften it.
With a hit rate of 34.12%, roughly one spin in three produces something. The balance ticks over steadily even when the wins are small, and that frequency is doing deliberate work: the game needs the reels moving to give its centrepiece symbol chances to arrive.
Wilds fill the gap between those modest lines and anything worth writing home about, and Mayhem’s wild is unusual enough to own a section further down. On the grid itself she counts as one thing only: a substitute for every paying symbol.
The Cash Queen and Respins
The Cash Queen is a 1×3 wild super symbol that can land only on the middle reel, and she’s always fully visible when she does. She substitutes for all paying symbols, so any line running through the middle of the grid can use her to complete.
When she takes part in a win, she locks herself in place together with the winning symbols, and a respin begins. If more symbols of the locked type land on that respin, they lock too, and another respin follows. The chain keeps going for as long as the matching symbols keep arriving.
There’s a wrinkle worth knowing: if the initial spin produces win lines from different symbol types, all of the winning symbol types lock together for the respin. That can leave several clusters frozen at once, all waiting on their own symbols to extend.
The other half of that rule narrows things down. During respins, win lines can only be formed from symbols that are already locked, so the feature strips the grid back to the symbols that matter. Everything else is decoration until the chain ends.
Each step of a chain is worth walking through. A spin pays a line through the Queen; she and the winning symbols stick. The respin arrives free, and any new symbol of the locked type joins the display and awards another.
Sooner or later a respin comes back empty. The locks release, and the grid resets to a normal spin. A single chain can stack several wins this way, each one larger than the last as the locked cluster grows.
Anarchy Spins
Three Anarchy Spins scatters landing on reels 1, 3 and 5 trigger 10 Anarchy Spins. That’s the only route in, and the scatter positions are fixed, so two out of three does nothing.
The round is a straight upgrade of the base mechanic. During Anarchy Spins the Cash Queen stays locked on the middle reel for the duration, and she multiplies every win that comes from respins. The lock-and-chain behaviour from the base game carries over, so each respin chain inside the bonus is both longer and worth more than its equivalent outside it.
Ten spins isn’t a long round. The value concentrated in them is the whole point: a locked, multiplying wild on the middle reel with respins feeding her is where the 1,200x ceiling becomes reachable, and the base game alone is unlikely to get anywhere near it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing Mayhem is mostly waiting at that crossroads. The base game ticks over with small hits about a third of the time, and it’s honest work rather than exciting work; the reason to sit through it is the Queen, who turns one ordinary win into a frozen grid that pays again and again. When a chain gets going, there’s real tension in it, and that’s the moment you came for.
The best thing here is that the bonus round knows exactly what the game is. Anarchy Spins doesn’t add a different feature; it locks the Queen down and multiplies what she already does, so the thing you enjoy in the base game simply gets better. That kind of restraint is rarer than it should be.
The worst thing is the money. The paytable tapers off hard below the dollar sign, and a 1,200x ceiling won’t tempt anyone chasing four-figure multiples. This is a game for players who like a build and don’t need a huge number at the end of it, not for hunters of big max wins, and in its scrappy desert way it delivers exactly what it promises.

What is the RTP of Mayhem?
95.71%. That’s the total expected return of the game. -
How do you trigger Anarchy Spins in Mayhem?
You need three Anarchy Spins scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time. That awards 10 Anarchy Spins, during which the Cash Queen stays locked on the middle reel and multiplies wins from respins. -
What does the Cash Queen do in Mayhem?
