Old Fellow Slot Review 2021

Old Fellow from Stakelogic takes us back to an Old Faithful formula with a mine full of treasures!

The idea behind Old Fellow was to ‘remember the good times’ with a cheerful crew and their amazing luck. The Mining genre could certainly be considered classic at this point. Most of the early adopters of Online Slots definitely took up their pickaxes at some point in time, and some still do with more modern renditions of a classic style.

How does Old Fellow compare? It’s time to head deep into the mines to find out.

Old Fellow Base

Old Fellow Theme

Without seeing the game first hand, you would never be able to guess the theme based off the title, we do love a surprise or two and it looks like Stakelogic are taking us back to the good old Mining days in Old Fellow.

First impressions of Old Fellow are quite good, the backdrop puts us in a dry desert, surrounded by mountains, an old wooden mining track and a very nosey Iguana perched on a rock. A crisp blue sky with moving clouds and birds flying by are also present.

The chilled music playing throughout gives off a very Old Western feel to it and sound effects tie in nicely with the theme. The sound effects tend to drown out the music a little and are quite overpowering at best of times.

We’ve seen whats on offer above ground in Old Fellow, now its time to take a closer look down below!

Old Fellow Betting and Symbols

Old Fellow has a small variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.20 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€20 per spin, with an ample selection of betting options in between the two. The maximum bet may not compare to the super high stakes we’ve seen elsewhere, but for the average player this option will be more than sufficient.

The highest paying symbols in Old Fellow fall to a collection of individually coloured Gems. The Red Gem holds the highest value, followed by the Purple, Yellow, Teal and Blue Gems. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

Wild symbols substitute for al symbols except Scatters.

Old Fellow Base Game and Features

Old Fellow is a 5 reel slot with 20 fixed paylines. To form a win you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The base game in Old Fellow offers players the chance to Gamble their wins for more or just Collect them. Go for Gold or go broke, the choice is ultimately yours.

Old Fellow can be a little bit uneventful in the Base Game. There are no cascading symbols or Base Game Features to tide you over, so you’ll be wanting of a bonus to see the true capabilities of Old Fellow.

From testing Old Fellow, Wild Symbols seem to land quite frequent, which does well in helping to rack up those wins, but for the most part it’s a little dull.

Good job you’ve got yourself a new Iguana friend to keep you company whilst you patiently wait for Free Spins to land!

Old Fellow Base Game

Old Fellow Free Spins

In order to trigger the Free Spins round, you will need to land 3 Scatters on any of the reels, to be awarded 12 Free Spins.

The Free Spins round in Old Fellow features Sticky and Multiplier Wilds. All Wild symbols that land in view will remain in place for the duration of Free Spins. If a full row of Wilds land on any one reel, Multipliers will be applied to those Wilds, up to x4.

If the Free Spins round reaches the maximum win of 50,000x, all remaining Free Spins will be forfeited and the round will end.

Landing 1 Wild on each of the reels, will award an additional +5 Free Spins. This retrigger can only be awarded once.

Old Fellow Our Verdict

Old Fellow isn’t exactly the first Old Western Mining slot we’ve come across and we are pretty sure it wont be the last. But is it a memorable one? That’s for you to decide.

There is no real excitement in the base game and the lack of features may well be a deal-breaker for you, but what Old Fellow lacks in the base game, it certainly makes up for in Free Spins.

The Free Spins round in Old Fellow is similar in style to NetEnt’s Dead or Alive II. You can’t help but sit on the edge of your seat, in the hopes of landing that one Wild needed to form a Wild line! If we’re being honest, Stakelogic had us a little worried for a second that Old Fellow was going to be a dead-end, but as it turns out they were just saving the best part till last.

Statistically, Old Fellow has a slightly below average RTP of 95.60%, but an epic maximum win capacity of 50,000x! So we don’t mind looking the other way in terms of RTP.

Overall, Old Fellow can be dull at times, but the bonus can be full of excitement, and the maximum win potential makes Old Fellow’s allure hard to deny.
