Over the Moon Base Game and Features
Over the Moon is a 6-reel slot with up to 117,649 Megaways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols (or 2 or more of the highest-paying symbol) land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€50 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.55% and a max win cap of 13,570x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Purple Gem, followed by the Red, Blue, and Green Gems. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, and Nine. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Scatters, Meteors, and Batteries.
Each time a winning combination forms, all winning symbols will be removed from play, and new symbols will drop down via a Cascade, with the possibility of forming more winning combinations.
Rockets
During any random spin or Cascade in the base game, a Rocket can appear next to the reel set. Rockets will appear with a random Multiplier value of x1, x5, or x10.
Each Rocket will have up to 3 Fuel Cells lit up. After each Cascade, if a Rocket has no Fuel Cells lit, it will be removed from view and all other Rockets present will lose 1 Fuel Cell.
Meteor Prizes
Special Meteor symbols with random Prizes attached to them can land on the reels at random. Meteor Prizes will only be awarded if there is a Rocket in view next to the reel set.
All Meteor Prizes will be automatically multiplied by any Multipliers that are displayed on Rockets.
Win Exchange
If at any point a win exceeds 80x your bet or more, you will have the option to exchange this amount for 12 Free Spins.
In addition to this, if you win between 25x and 80x your bet, you will have the option to Gamble your total win amount for a chance to be awarded 12 Free Spins. The chance of winning the Gamble is shown in Green, and the chance of losing is shown in Red.
Over the Moon Free Spins
Landing 3 or more Scatters across the reels triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 12 Free Spins plus an additional +2 Free Spins for each Scatter awarded after the third. If 1 or more of the triggering Scatters is a Megascatter, you will automatically be awarded the Enhanced Free Spins round.
During Free Spins, the first Rocket to appear during this time will have a Multiplier of x1. The second and third Rockets will appear with a Multiplier of x2 and x3 respectively, and so on and so forth. Meteor Prizes will be automatically multiplied by all displayed Rocket Multipliers.
During the Free Spins round, a special Battery symbol can land on Reel 6. Each Battery symbol that lands will fill all present Rockets Fuel Cells up to 3.
Landing 3 or more Scatters during this time will award an additional +4 Free Spins, plus an extra +2 Free Spins for each Scatter symbol after the third.
Enhanced Free Spins
During Enhanced Free Spins, Rocket Multipliers will start at x2 and increase by x2 for every Rocket that appears in view.
Over the Moon Bonus Buy
Those outside the UK will benefit from a Bonus Buy option. Big Time Gaming has granted players access to the Free Spins and Enhanced Free Spins rounds for a total cost of 70x and 140x your current bet respectively.
Over the Moon: Our Verdict
Over the Moon looks rather colourful, but a little plain. The Aesthetic of BTG slots hasn’t really changed much over the years, but their slots more than make up for lack of truly immersive graphics with gameplay.
Over the Moon is another prime example of a Megaways slot done well, and yet another example of how BTG know their Megaways mechanic best. Is Over the Moon an entirely new invention from BTG? Not really. It’s very reminiscent of Golden Catch Megaways, but that isn’t a bad thing.
No two BTG games are exactly alike, however. The Fuel Cell charges is a subtle change, but it makes a difference. It’s certainly less tilting than the boats that would just sail on by. We swore we could see a fisherman with his middle finger up if we squinted and looked close enough.
Statistically, Over the Moon looks brilliantly capable with winning capabilities of up to 13,570x, which should get the hearts racing of all of those statisticians out there.
Overall, Over the Moon is another fine instalment from BTG, and it’ll undoubtedly be a popular alternative if Golden Catch Megaways is starting to feel a little dry.
