Peep the Pope GigaBlox Slot Review
Stone angels with folded wings and lyres in hand stand guard on their plinths, candles drip and gutter in the corner, and a brass lever waits on the wall with a golden arrow pointing down. Peep the Pope GigaBlox is a game that doesn’t pay you for what you land, it pays you for how much of it there is: the symbols themselves are worth almost nothing, and everything that matters happens in the counting.
Slightly Edgy have made the church the game. It runs a 6×5 grid with scatter pays and avalanches at 96% RTP, Super High volatility, and stakes from 0.10 to 10, with a hit rate of roughly one spin in four. The original Peep the Pope wore this same cathedral over patient maths; this one adds GigaBlox, and the guarantee of one on every free spin is the reason for a second visit. Spooky Kabuki and Toothless Smile round out the shelf.
Base Game & Features
Scatter Pays and the Paytable
Wins don’t use paylines at all. Any eight or more identical paying symbols, anywhere on the six reels, pay. Land eleven of a kind and you step up a tier; land fifteen and you’re in the top one.
The paytable is a six-rung ladder, and it’s a flat one. The lower rungs pay fractions of your stake, so the tiers are where the money is. Values are multiples of stake per symbol group:
- Nun (red): 5x for 8-10, 7x for 11-14, 10x for 15-30
- Old Woman: 2x for 8-10, 4x for 11-14, 8x for 15-30
- Nun (purple): 2x for 8-10, 4x for 11-14, 8x for 15-30
- Young Man: 1x for 8-10, 1.5x for 11-14, 4x for 15-30
- Old Man: 1x for 8-10, 1.5x for 11-14, 4x for 15-30
- Cross: 0.6x for 8-10, 1.2x for 11-14, 1.5x for 15-30
- Incense Burner: 0.4x for 8-10, 0.8x for 11-14, 1.2x for 15-30
- Goblet: 0.4x for 8-10, 0.8x for 11-14, 1.2x for 15-30
- Chalice: 0.2x for 8-10, 0.4x for 11-14, 1x for 15-30
- Book: 0.2x for 8-10, 0.4x for 11-14, 1x for 15-30
Read that top line again. The best symbol in the game pays 10x, and that’s for fifteen or more of them on the screen at once. Even the good clusters pay in single multiples, which tells you most of the return lives elsewhere.
Avalanche
Every win triggers an avalanche. The winning symbols are removed, new ones fall into the gaps, and any new combination formed by the drop pays again. The chain keeps running until a drop produces nothing, and everything won during the sequence is added together.
That’s the engine under the flat paytable: single wins are small, but one spin can pay several times. A win of eight symbols can cascade into nine, then eleven, each drop pulling fresh symbols into play.
Gigablox Symbols
Gigablox are large square blocks of one identical paying symbol, in sizes from 2×2 up to 5×5. Each position a block occupies counts as a separate symbol when scatter pays are evaluated, so a 4×4 Gigablox is sixteen of a kind on its own. Drop one next to a cluster and the tier jumps immediately.
In the base game they arrive via the Progress Bar, which fills as you play and awards Gigablox symbols when it does. That’s the base game’s whole rhythm: fill the bar, get a block, watch the avalanche work through it.
Peep the Pope GigaBlox Free Spins & Bonus Games
Free Spins
The Free Spins symbol lands you the bonus round, which comes with an increasing multiplier bar that climbs as the round goes on. The headline rule is simpler and better: every free spin guarantees at least one random Gigablox on the reels. No spin of the round is a dead one.
Each free spin arrives half-built towards a paying cluster, and the avalanches do the rest. A guaranteed block can seed eight of a kind on its own if it lands 2×4 or better, and a big one can carry you straight into the top tiers.
Combine a growing multiplier with that guarantee and a chain of drops, and a single free spin can escalate well past what the base game ever manages. That’s where the game’s real potential sits.
Hold & Win and Pick & Click
Two further bonus games are on the roster: a Hold & Win round and a Pick & Click game. Both are named on the title screen and both are standard shapes for their types, the collect-and-lock format and the pick-a-prize format respectively.
A buy button sits in the corner of the base game screen for anyone who’d rather skip the queue to the features. What the various buy options cost isn’t fixed in one place, so check the menu before you commit to anything. The entry points worth knowing, in short:
- Scatter Pays: eight or more identical paying symbols anywhere on the reels
- Avalanche: every winning combination, automatically
- Gigablox: via the Progress Bar in the base game, guaranteed on every free spin
- Free Spins: the Free Spins symbol
- Hold & Win and Pick & Click: named bonus rounds triggered in play
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
You come for the cathedral, and the cathedral is worth coming for. Nobody else in this corner of the market has a view like it, and that setting is the one honest reason to open this game rather than the next scatter-pays title along. Once you’re in, it plays quicker than its rating suggests: about a quarter of spins pay, and the chains keep the screen busy even when the numbers behind them are small.
The free spins round is the best thing in it, because no spin of it starts empty and the multiplier bar means the late spins are the dangerous ones. The paytable is the let-down: a 10x ceiling on the best symbol means the base game’s clever arithmetic is mostly being done on pocket change, and you feel that on every session that doesn’t reach the bonus.
It’s for players who enjoy the build and trust the round to deliver, not for anyone who wants a big number they can see from the lobby. Settle in with the angels, keep an eye on the bar, and let the candles do the waiting with you.
