Ra Unleashed Slot Review
A falcon-headed god grips a staff crowned with a glowing sun-disc at the edge of a columned sandstone courtyard, a stepped pyramid hazed into the distance behind him. Ra Unleashed asks more patience of you than almost any modern slot, because its best six modifiers are locked behind countdowns of up to a hundred spins each. Wishbone has essentially made the base game a fuse, burning one tick at a time towards the moment an orb finally breaks.
It’s a 5×3 slot with 20 fixed paylines, running at 96.37% RTP with medium volatility and stakes from 0.20 to 40.00. Wins top out at 6 000x the bet. Wishbone has covered similar ground before in Thor Unleashed, and titles like Phoenix Reign and Ammit Hellfire show the same taste for a feature that builds slowly. The question here is how long you’ll wait for the orbs to pay that patience back.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a straightforward 20-payline affair. Wins run left to right from the first reel, the number of paylines is fixed, and only the highest combination pays on each line. Bonus wins and payline wins can land on the same spin, and the total payout is simply the sum of all line wins.
With a hit rate of 29.54%, roughly three spins in ten return something. That frequency suits the medium volatility: small wins arrive often enough to keep the balance ticking between features, without promising much size from the reels alone.
Ra himself is the wild. Wilds substitute for everything except the scatter and can form their own winning combinations.
The falcon is the scatter, and it carries more weight than scatters usually do. It can land on any reel, and when it does it randomly selects Ra or one of the two orbs above the reels, potentially firing a feature. Land the maximum win symbol alongside a scatter in the base game and the full prize is paid on the spot, with no bonus round attached.
The paytable is modest at the top and flat at the bottom, with values shown as multiples of the stake:
- White Winged Bird – the top payer: 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 5x for five
- Urn – next best: 0.3x, 0.8x, then 3x across three, four and five
- Purple Egg, Eye, Scroll – the mid tier, worth 0.2x up to 2x
- A – the best of the royals at 0.1x for three, 0.3x for four, 1.5x for five
- K, Q, J, 10, 9 – the rest of the royals, paying from 0.1x to a 1x ceiling
Line wins alone won’t carry a session. Five of the top symbol returns 5x the stake, and the royals pay barely more than the bet back at their best. The base game’s real job is chipping away at the orb countdowns that unlock the modifiers.
Ra Unleashed Bonus Feature and Orb Modifiers
Two orbs hang above the reels, one red and one blue, each carrying three unique modifiers locked behind stages. Every base game spin can reduce one modifier’s countdown by one, and only one, at random. Stage 1 opens after a countdown from 20, Stage 2 after 50, Stage 3 after 100, and they unlock strictly in order.
Breaking open an orb triggers the respin feature and awards one random unlocked modifier from it. If Ra triggers the feature, both orbs break and you can run one modifier from each, to a maximum of two. The Ra feature and the individual orbs can’t fire at the same time.
The respin itself is a hold-and-collect round. The triggering scatters lock in place and act as Collectors, and Value symbols land carrying between 0.20x and 5x the bet. You start with three Hearts, each one a chance to keep the round alive.
Land at least one Value or Jackpot symbol on a spin and the Hearts reset to three; land none and one Heart goes. Every Value and Jackpot symbol that lands locks in place too, and the other positions spin independently. The round ends when the Hearts run out or every position fills with Collector, Value or Jackpot symbols.
At the end, the total value of everything on the grid is added to the Collector and paid automatically. There’s no retriggering once it’s running, no paylines are active during the feature, and the total is capped at 6 000x your bet: reach the cap and the round simply ends and pays it.
The Red Orb Modifiers
APEX, the Stage 1 modifier, expands the reel aperture to a 5×5 grid at the start of the feature, opening up far more positions for Value symbols to land. SURGE, at Stage 2, applies a random 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier to every new Value or Jackpot symbol that appears.
TRIBUTE, the Stage 3 payer, adds each Collector’s value to at least one Value or Jackpot symbol in view whenever a new one lands. On a grid stacked with locked values, a single TRIBUTE pass can lift several symbols at once.
The Blue Orb Modifiers
CHAOS, Stage 1, moves every Value and Jackpot symbol to at least one random new position each spin, never onto a Collector. Symbols that land on occupied spots combine their values, so the shuffle can stack several prizes onto one tile.
ECHO, Stage 2, spawns a fresh temporary Collector every spin a Value or Jackpot symbol appears, active for one to three spins before it pays out and disappears. REAPER, the Stage 3 persistent collector, lets the Collector randomly re-collect one to three symbols it has already banked.
The Jackpot Ladder
Four jackpots sit inside the feature, and all of them pay as symbols rather than as a separate game:
- Mini: 10x the bet
- Minor: 20x the bet
- Major: 50x the bet
- Grand: 5 000x the bet
Mini, Minor and Major can appear as jackpot symbols during any respin. The Grand is different: it pays only when every position on the grid is filled with Collector, Value or Jackpot symbols. APEX’s bigger 5×5 grid cuts both ways here – more room for values to land, and more positions that have to fill for the big one.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.6/10
Playing Ra Unleashed is a lot of quiet spinning for a handful of loud moments, and that’s the whole point of it. You choose it for the build, for watching those countdowns edge towards an orb cracking open – the falcon god doesn’t give up his treasures quickly, and neither does this game.
Its strength is that no two bonus rounds feel alike. The modifier pool is deep enough that a respin with SURGE’s multipliers and a respin with CHAOS’s shuffling are genuinely different games. The weakness is the distance to the good stuff: the strongest modifiers sit behind the longest countdowns, and a session that never unlocks them sees only a plain base game and the shallow end of the feature.
This is one for the patient – players who enjoy a slot that rewards persistence with a bonus worth the wait. It isn’t one for anyone who wants features landing every few minutes. The falcon god pays his faithful eventually; you just have to be willing to kneel a while.
Ra Unleashed FAQs
-
What is the RTP of Ra Unleashed?
96.37%. That’s the total expected return, and it doesn’t change. -
How does the Bonus Feature trigger in Ra Unleashed?
When a falcon scatter lands on any reel, it randomly selects Ra or one of the two orbs above the reels. Breaking open an orb triggers the respin feature, and if Ra is selected, both orbs break and each contributes one unlocked modifier. -
How do you unlock the orb modifiers?
Each orb’s three modifiers unlock in stages, behind countdowns of 20, 50 and 100. At the start of any base game spin, one modifier at random can have its countdown reduced by one, and stages must unlock in order. -
What jackpots does Ra Unleashed have?
Four: Mini at 10x the bet, Minor at 20x, Major at 50x, and Grand at 5 000x. The Grand is the exception – rather than dropping as a symbol, it only pays when the entire grid fills up during the respin feature. -
Can the Bonus Feature retrigger?
No. Feature re-triggers aren’t possible while the respin round is running. The round only extends through Heart resets, which happen each time a new Value or Jackpot symbol lands. -
What is the maximum win on Ra Unleashed?
6 000x your bet. It’s the cap on the Bonus Feature, and it can also be awarded instantly in the base game by landing the maximum win symbol alongside a scatter, in which case no bonus round is triggered. -
What is the minimum and maximum bet on Ra Unleashed?
Stakes run from 0.20 to 40.00 per spin. -
Who makes Ra Unleashed?
Wishbone. Ra Unleashed sits alongside their other titles, including Thor Unleashed and Phoenix Reign.
