Rainin’ Money 2 Slot Review
Rain hammers a city street at night, storm clouds bruising the sky purple, and three glass jars glow red, blue and magenta above the reels, each one hoarding a bag of gold coins. Rainin’ Money 2 takes its title literally: the weather is the point, and the money falls out of it.
Most slots would hide a jackpot ladder away in a menu. This one bolts it to the top of the cabinet in neon and builds its whole personality around it, because the jars are the game: everything outside the storm feature exists to fill them.
Iron Dog Studio, the studio behind The Golden Mummy 2 and 3 Porky Banks Sky High, has built a 5×3 slot with 25 winlines and stakes running from 0.20 to 25.00 per spin, at a 95.07% RTP with a four-tier jackpot ladder as the top prize. What it promises is notes raining down for the picking, and it keeps that promise in style.
Wilds and the 25 Winlines
The base game plays out against that rain-lashed street. Stone buildings with arched, glowing windows loom at either edge, the reel cabinet is framed in ornate gold trim with purple-blue pillars, and diagonal rain streaks cross the whole frame.
It’s a lush, painterly scene with neon accents. Underneath the artwork, the mechanics are straightforward.
Wins form when matching symbols land on consecutive reels from reel 1 along one of the 25 winlines, and wins on multiple winlines are added together and paid against the total bet. Every winline runs left to right, so there are no right-to-left surprises and no scatter-style payouts hiding in the corners.
Wild symbols can appear on all five reels and substitute for every non-special symbol. If a run of Wilds is broken by a special symbol, the win is worked out from the paytable as usual. That’s the whole toolkit in the base game: wilds, winlines and whatever the storm blows in.
What the storm blows in is the interesting part. The three glowing jars above the reels are the visible half of a four-tier jackpot ladder that sits alongside the game:
- MEGA: 1,000x the bet
- MAJOR: 150x the bet
- MINOR: 25x the bet
- MINI: 10x the bet
Those multiples scale with your stake, so the ladder climbs as your bet does. The jars aren’t decoration, either: they’re the scoreboard for the jackpot notes the purple coin can switch on.
The Rainin’ Money Feature
This is the game’s one big idea. Whenever one or more Storm Coins land on the board, the Rainin’ Money feature may trigger. Up to one Storm Coin can appear per reel at any time, and every coin present on the triggering board switches on its own extra before the first note falls.
The round itself is a picking game with a twist of weather. Notes fall from the stormy sky and you choose between them, one at a time, with four picks to start. Each note you choose awards one of three things:
- Cash Prize: a payout of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x or 9x stake
- Multiplier Increase: x2, x3, x4 or x5, multiplying all future wins
- Additional Picks: two more picks on top of whatever you have left
The Storm Coins
Three different Storm Coins can land, one per reel at most, and each changes the round in its own way:
- Special Red Coin – Extra Picks: you start with an additional two picks
- Special Blue Coin – Multiplier Storm: you start with a x2 multiplier
- Special Purple Coin – Jackpot Notes: you can win a Jackpot while picking notes
How a Round Plays Out
The three prize types are ordered to matter. A Multiplier Increase only boosts picks that come after it, so a x5 landing on your first pick can turn a string of modest cash prizes into something respectable.
The same x5 on your final pick does nothing but sit there. Additional Picks compound the same way: more notes means more chances, and a multiplier keeps working across all of them. A round that opens with picks and closes with multipliers pays very differently to one that runs the other way round.
The coins stack, too. Trigger with a red coin and a blue coin together and you start with six picks and a x2 multiplier already running; add the purple coin and a jackpot note becomes possible among them. That’s the combination the jars are there for.
Individual cash prizes top out at 9x stake per note, so the feature’s real money lives in the multipliers stacking across pick after pick, and in the jackpot notes the purple coin makes possible. A well-timed x5, a run of extra picks and a MEGA note falling into the sequence is the round at full strength.
Worth understanding before you spin: the coins change the round’s setup, not its payouts. A blue coin doesn’t add cash to the board, it just means every prize you do collect lands doubled from the first pick. The difference between a bare trigger and a three-coin trigger is the difference between a quick flutter and a round with room to build.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
You spin, you watch the rain, you wait for coins. That’s the rhythm here, and the reason to sit through the quiet spells is that the storm pays better than the street does: one good three-coin trigger with an early multiplier is worth more than a long stretch of winline hits.
The strength is that the picking round is built with real care. Multipliers only count forward and extra picks buy more chances for them to land, so the order in which notes fall genuinely changes what you walk away with, and the coins let you shape the round before it starts.
The weakness is everything between storms. The base game is wilds and winlines and little else, and the MEGA jackpot can only be won through the purple coin’s Jackpot Notes. This is one for jackpot hunters who like a single, well-made bonus round and don’t mind waiting out the drizzle for it; anyone after constant features and a busier base game should look elsewhere. For those who stay, the forecast is a good one.
Rainin’ Money 2 FAQs
-
How do you trigger the Rainin’ Money feature?
Whenever Storm Coins are on the board when the reels stop, the Rainin’ Money feature can set off. No more than one Storm Coin can sit on any reel, and each coin present at the trigger switches on its own extra: red for extra picks, blue for a starting x2 multiplier, and purple for jackpot notes. -
What does each pick award in the Rainin’ Money feature?
Each note you pick awards one of three prizes: a cash payout of between 1x and 9x stake, a multiplier increase of x2, x3, x4 or x5 that applies to all future wins, or two additional picks. You start with four picks, plus any extras from the triggering coins. -
What do the red, blue and purple Storm Coins do?
Each Storm Coin activates its own extra at the start of the feature. The Special Red Coin awards Extra Picks, giving you two additional picks to start. The Special Blue Coin starts the round with a x2 multiplier. The Special Purple Coin turns on Jackpot Notes, which opens the game’s jackpots to the picking round. -
What jackpots does Rainin’ Money 2 have?
A four-tier ladder sits alongside the reels: MEGA at 1,000x the bet, MAJOR at 150x, MINOR at 25x and MINI at 10x. The MEGA tier at the top is the biggest prize in the game. Jackpot wins come through the purple coin’s Jackpot Notes during the Rainin’ Money feature. -
Do multiplier increases apply to wins already collected?
No. A Multiplier Increase multiplies all future wins in the round, so it only applies to picks made after it lands. That’s what makes an early multiplier so much more valuable than a late one. -
What does the Wild substitute for?
Wilds appear on reels 1 through 5 and stand in for every non-special symbol. If a special symbol breaks a run of Wilds, the win follows the standard paytable rather than the wild substitution. -
What is the RTP of Rainin’ Money 2?
Rainin’ Money 2 has an RTP of 95.07%. -
When is Rainin’ Money 2 released?
