Rey Gallo X UP Slot Review
Sunrise on a Latin-flavoured rooster ranch: a red barn with tall white doors sits on the horizon, sunflowers nod along a weathered fence, and a rooster weathervane is silhouetted against the yellow-orange sky. Alchemy Gaming have built something quietly unusual under all that storybook gloss, because Rey Gallo X UP is one of the few collector slots where the base game is the actual game – the free spins are just where the bill comes due.
Rey Gallo X UP is a collector’s game more than a line-pays one: the money sits in prizes that land and wait to be gathered, with a multiplier trail stacked on top that decides what they’re worth. It runs on a 5×4 grid with 1024 ways, at 94.20% RTP and very high volatility.
The trail system will be familiar to anyone who has followed the studio’s Africa XUP or Bolt X UP, though the farmyard makes a change from the usual fishing boats. Whether the rooster earns his crown is what follows.
Base Game & Features
The grid is five reels by four rows, paying across 1024 ways. A way runs left to right across adjacent reels, and wins pay out on the initial bet. Only the highest combination counts per symbol.
The real business of the base game is the Cash Collect system. Cash and jackpot prize symbols land on any reel, and Rooster symbols appear on reels 1 and 5 to collect them. One Rooster collects every prize on screen once; two Roosters collect them all twice. The Rooster pays nothing on his own.
The prizes themselves come in fixed ranges. Eggs carry the smaller cash, and four coloured jackpots sit above them:
- Egg 1: cash prizes between 0.2x and 1.0x the bet
- Egg 2: cash prizes between 1.5x and 3x the bet
- Egg 3: cash prizes between 5x and 10x the bet
- MINI Jackpot: 15x the bet
- MINOR Jackpot: 50x the bet
- MAJOR Jackpot: 250x the bet
- MEGA Jackpot: 1000x the bet
Wilds substitute for everything except the scatter, bonus, cash, jackpot and collect symbols, and they can form their own winning combinations. That’s the whole of their job here.
The X UP Trail
The X UP feature is a six-level trail above the reels, driven by token collection. Two Red Scatters award one X UP token, and the tokens climb the trail: Level 2 at one token, Level 3 at three, Level 4 at six, Level 5 at ten and Level 6 at fifteen. Level 1 is active from the start.
Each level carries tiered cash and jackpot multipliers. Blue Scatters, which land on reels 1 and 5 in the base game only, permanently increase one multiplier at a time, starting from the highest level and working down. Level 6 can be upgraded twice.
- Level 1: 1x, 2x
- Level 2: 2x, 4x
- Level 3: 3x, 6x
- Level 4: 5x, 8x
- Level 5: 8x, 10x
- Level 6: 10x, 12x, 15x
A single Gold Scatter, on reel 1 in the base game, applies the current X UP multiplier to any cash and jackpot prizes on the reels. It’s the trail’s only direct payout outside the bonus, and it gives the base game something to work towards between features.
Bonificación de Nido Real
Bonus symbols land on any reel and fill a slot above the reels. Fill all five and the Bonus game triggers. An expanded Rooster takes over reel 1 while reels 2 to 5 spin with only Cash prizes and Trophy symbols on them.
Every landing Cash prize is collected, and Gold, Silver, Red and Blue Trophies stack up above the reels. The round runs until three Trophies of a kind are collected, at which point the matching jackpot is awarded along with all the collected cash. It’s a build that can run for a while, and the jackpot it ends on is decided by the first colour to complete its trio.
Rey Gallo X UP Free Spins & Bonuses
Three or more Red Scatters anywhere on the reels trigger 8 free spins. Whatever X UP level is active when the round starts applies from the first spin, and collected tokens carry in with you. More tokens can be gathered during the feature, raising the active multiplier mid-round.
The active multiplier applies to cash and jackpot prizes only, not to way wins. Two Red Scatters during the round award two extra spins plus one X UP token, which is the only way to extend it; the feature cannot be retriggered. Blue Scatters don’t appear in free spins at all, so the trail’s permanent upgrades are a base-game project.
Tokens reset when the feature ends. That’s the cost of a big round: the trail you spent the base game building goes back to empty, and Level 6’s 15x has to be earned again.
Upsizer
Before free spins begin, there’s an optional purchase for a higher starting cash and jackpot multiplier, confirmed with its cost displayed up front. It’s only offered when the feature triggers with an active X UP level between 1 and 5, and it may be limited or unavailable above certain bet sizes or in certain regions.
Buy Feature
The Buy Feature sells immediate access to free spins from the base game. The confirmation asks whether you want 8 free spins with a 15x cash and jackpot multiplier, at a cost of 150x the bet. The RTP stays at 94.20% either way.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
This is a game you play for the waiting. Eggs land, jackpots land, and most spins are really about whether a rooster shows up on reels 1 and 5 to sweep the board. It sounds thin, and on plenty of collector slots it is, but the ranch gives the loop somewhere pleasant to happen while the trail quietly fills.
That trail is the strongest thing here, and not just because it climbs to 15x. Blue Scatter upgrades stick permanently, which is rarer than it should be, so a session leaves something behind even when the bonus doesn’t arrive. The problem is what the free spins do to it: every triggered round empties the trail on the way out, so the game keeps taking back the one thing you’d earned. At 94.20% the maths doesn’t make the re-earning any sweeter.
It suits players who like a slow build and don’t mind starting it over, and there’s real satisfaction in arriving at free spins with the multiplier already fat. Anyone chasing frequent features will find the farm quiet between visits. For patient collectors, though, this rooster is worth getting up for.
