Base Game & Features
Sea of Spirits is the latest high volatility release from Push Gaming, consisting of 6 reels, 4 rows, and 4,096 ways to win. Paytable symbols are set to create wins when 2-6 matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The highest-paying symbol is the Captain, followed by the Anchor, Telescope, Compass, and A, K, Q, J, & 10 card ranks. Each available winning combination reveals a fixed payout between 0.1x and 10x your bet on the reels.
In addition, Wild symbols can appear on all reels, substituting for all symbols as part of a winning combination. Lastly, Bonus & Super Bonus Scatters can land on any reel position in the base game, and are responsible for triggering the Free Spins & Super Free Spins modes.
Frames
During any base game spin, special Frames can overlap existing reel positions; however, they cannot land in positions that are already occupied by Frames. Each Frame in view will remain inactive until an Activator symbol appears on the reels.
There are a total of 3 Frames available: Bronze, Silver, & Gold. In the base game, only the Bronze Frames can appear on the reels. Alternatively, during Free Spins, all 3 Frames become available. Each Frame symbol reveals one of the following outcomes, depending on the type of Activator symbol:
- Bronze Frame:
- Wild Activator: Converts all Frames into Wilds
- Symbol Sync Activator: Converts all Frames into a random high or low-paying symbol
- Coin Activator: Instantly triggers the Coin Reveal Feature, with each Frame revealing random Instant Prizes
- Silver Frame:
- Wild Activator: Awards wild symbols that split into two
- Symbol Sync Activator: Reveals a random high or low-paying symbol that splits into two
- Coin Activator: Guarantees to trigger the Coin Reveal Feature, with instant prizes worth 5x your bet or more
- Gold Frame:
- Wild Activator: Awards wild symbols that split into 3 instances
- Symbol Sync Activator: Reveals a random high or low-paying symbol that splits into 3 instances
- Coin Activator: Triggers the Coin Reveal Feature, with instant prizes worth at least 25x your bet or more
In the base game, after all wins are evaluated, the current Frames in view will be nudged down by one position with each spin. This continues until all Frames are removed from the reels once they reach the bottom of the reel set.
In the Free Spins & Super Free Spins mode, each Frame will remain sticky until the end of the feature, and will not nudge with each spin.
Activator Symbols
As touched upon above, Activator symbols are responsible for the activation of Bronze, Silver, & Gold Frames currently in view at the time of their appearance, available in the base game, Free Spins, & Super Free Spins modes.
Activator symbols can appear on any reel during gameplay, but only 1 Symbol Sync, Coin, or Wild Activator symbol per spin. If an Activator symbol appears in view, without any Frames, it will leave behind a Frame for the next spin.
Coin Reveal Feature
Once the Coin Reveal Feature has been triggered, each Frame position will spin through a series of Prizes:
- Instant Prizes: Between 1x and 10,000x your bet
- Multipliers: Reveals values of x2, x3, x5, and x10, which apply to all Instant Prize Coins that appear during this time
- Collectors: Gathers the value of all Instant Prizes in view, allowing all empty positions to spin again
- Scatters: Appear in the base game only
- Super Scatters: Appear in the base game only
- Upgraders: Only appear in the Free Spins & Super Free Spins modes. The Upgrader symbol will select a random number of Bronze or Silver Frames & upgrade them to the next available tier, before Activator symbols are triggered.
Sea of Spirits Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters anywhere on the reels triggers the Free Spins mode, awarding 5 Free Spins. At the start of the first spin, up to 3 Bronze Frames are added to random reel positions. In addition, each visible Frame will remain sticky on the reels until the end of the feature, and does not nudge between spins.
Super Free Spins
Alternatively, the Super Free Spins mode is awarded when at least 1 Super Scatter is part of the triggering spin, awarding 8 Free Spins. In this mode, during the first spin, 3 or more Frames of varying tiers are added to the reels. Each available Frame will be held in its position until the end of the feature, and do not nudge between spins.
Overpowered Bonus
Once a Free Spins or Super Free Spins mode is activated, there’s a chance of it becoming ‘Overpowered’. During an Overpowered Bonus, there is an increased chance of hitting bigger payouts.
During either of the Free Spins modes, landing an Extra Spin symbol anywhere on the reels awards an additional +1 Free Spin per symbol.

Our Honest Verdict
From the minute you enter Sea of Spirits, you’re gripped by its charming nautical theme, climactic soundscapes, & high-quality aesthetics, but would you expect anything less from a Push Gaming title? Push Gaming combines its much-loved features & mechanics with the creative eye & shared expertise of CasinoGrounds, but does it have the Iron Bank or Beast Mode appeal?
When you’re not focusing on the poor souls shackled to their sunken ships in the backdrop, each base game spin will generate a random number of Bronze Frames, which collectively trigger when an Activator symbol appears in view, of which there are 3 to contend with.
As spins progress in the base game, so too do the available Frames, moving down by one position with each spin. To save them from effectively going to waste, you will need to land any of the available Activators. Depending on which Activator symbol is in view, a Symbol Sync, Coin Reveal, or Wild function is awarded to all available Frames.
Given its hefty 500x your bet price tag via the Bonus Buy tab, we believe the Coin Reveal Activator to be the most attractive outcome of the three, with the remaining two being great for prolonged entertainment & a cheeky balance boost.
The Coin Reveal function is one of Push Gaming’s more established features, which appeared in Big Bamboo and Razor Returns. Instead of Bamboo & Seaweed as the defining attribute, Push Gaming has incorporated it into Bronze, Silver, & Gold Frames, making them one of the most multi-functional symbols on the reels.
During this feature, Instant Prizes can reveal up to 10,000x your bet, and can be subjected to Multipliers between x1 and x10. While there’s no harm in wishing for higher-value Coin Prizes, the Collector symbol quickly becomes the most in-demand symbol, for when it lands, it will gather all Instant Prizes, causing the empty Frame positions to repeat the cycle once more.
Push Gaming has introduced a Free Spins & Super Free Spins mode, both of which can be upgraded to ‘overpowered’ at the start of the session, offering an increased chance of bigger wins, similar to the ‘Hot Mode’ feature found in Beast mode. Alternatively, non-UK players can skip the grind & head straight into either mode via the Bonus Buy tab.
