Silicon Spinners PopWins Slot Review
A gadget half out of its box, cardboard shards everywhere, and a scowling cartoon face stamped MR WU ORIGINALS watching you play. Silicon Spinners PopWins looks like a joke, but it’s built like a machine for people who think the base game is the whole point: a row of reward symbols runs above the reels on every single spin, which means there’s never a dead moment between bonuses.
That’s a rarer bet than it sounds, and AvatarUX have paid for it elsewhere in the maths. The 5×3 grid opens with 729 ways and grows as wins land, with high volatility and a 94.02% RTP underneath.
It belongs to a long PopWins lineage alongside CherryPop, HippoPop and Lollipop, and it’s that extra row above the grid which marks this one out.
Base Game & Features
POPWINS
Every winning symbol pops and is replaced by two symbols, so the reel grows taller with each consecutive win. Reels can reach a height of six, and the popping repeats for as long as the wins keep coming. Fully unlocking the reels in the base game awards two free spins on the spot.
ZapReel
Above the main grid sits a horizontal row of six cells, and it’s in play on every spin. The leftmost and rightmost positions start locked behind Hot Bonus blockers; landing a wild on reel 1 or reel 6 unlocks them for that spin. The ZapReel cascades from right to left each spin, bringing in fresh regular symbols and its own rewards.
Those rewards are where the base game gets its teeth. Four of them can arrive on the ZapReel, each doing a different job.
- Sync Reels – syncs between two and four reels, which then land identical symbols until the round ends.
- Mystery Reel – affects up to four reels below it, filling them with copies of one random regular symbol; if they form a win, those reels keep copying for the rest of the round.
- Win Multiplier – adds its value to the total win of combinations below it, and multiples stack multiplicatively, so a 2x and a 3x become 6x. Values run from 2x up to 100x.
- Symbol Multiplier – attaches to a regular symbol and boosts any winning line it forms, at 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x.
The wild substitutes for regular symbols, and a wild on the first or last reel is also what opens those blocked outer cells. Bonus and Super Bonus symbols can only appear once the blockers are gone.
Paying Symbols
Wins pay left to right on the ways system, with the paytable split across three tiers.
- Rocket guy, drink guy, cards guy and thumbs-up guy: 0.5x bet for three, 0.75x for four, 1.25x for five and 2.5x for six.
- Old man with drink, prisoner and the green icon: 0.25x for three, 0.5x for four, 0.75x for five and 1.5x for six.
- A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9: 0.1x for three, 0.15x for four, 0.3x for five and 0.6x for six.
Silicon Spinners PopWins Bonus Features
Two Bonus symbols, in any combination, unlock the free spins round. Two regular Bonus symbols award eight spins; a Bonus plus a Super Bonus awards ten spins with one guaranteed wild per spin; two Super Bonus symbols award twelve spins with two guaranteed wilds per spin.
Before the round begins, reels reset to a height of four, and progress between spins only resets to the shortest reel rather than dropping back to the start. That carries over spin after spin, so the grid tends to stay tall once it gets there.
Gamble Wheel
You’re offered a spin of the Gamble Wheel before free spins begin. Winning the first wheel upgrades the round to ten spins with one guaranteed wild per spin; winning the second takes it to twelve spins with two guaranteed wilds.
There are golden slices too, one granting twelve spins with two wilds and a second granting fifteen with two. Losing sends you back to the base game with no free spins at all.
Retriggers
The round keeps feeding itself once it’s running. Bonus symbols landing during free spins add one to three extra spins, Super Bonus symbols add two to four, and fully unlocking the reels grants four more. The ways counter climbs quickly when reels stay tall between spins.
XPRESS
There are three purchase options on the XPRESS menu, plus an ante bet that triples the chance of triggering the bonus for 1.5x your stake per spin.
- Bonus – 100x the bet for eight free spins.
- Super Bonus – 400x the bet for the upgraded round.
- Ante Bet – 1.5x the bet per spin for triple the trigger chance.
A purchased round is capped at 20,000x the bet, and it ends the moment that cap is reached. That same 20,000x the stake is the game’s published maximum win, so there’s a firm ceiling on this one whether the bonus is bought or not.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
The packaging is the pitch: you rip into a spin and something happens before the bonus round ever shows up. That’s the reason to pick this over the studio’s other PopWins titles, because the ZapReel keeps every base game spin carrying a possible sync, a mystery fill or a stacked multiplier, and a modest line can suddenly pay like a big one when two multipliers meet.
The cost is the free spins round itself. The blockers gate the trigger, the wheel can take eight spins off you for nothing, and 94.02% is thin change for a ways game with a paytable that tops out at 2.5x bet for six of the best symbol.
It suits players who enjoy the spin itself more than the feature it’s building towards. Anyone who plays slots mainly for the bonus round will find the journey long and the reward uneven. For the rest, there’s plenty to unbox.
Silicon Spinners PopWins FAQs
-
How do you trigger free spins in Silicon Spinners PopWins?
Land two Bonus symbols in any combination. The Hot Bonus blockers on the ZapReel’s outer positions have to be unlocked first, which a wild on reel 1 or reel 6 does for that spin. The entry-level trigger is eight spins, and better combinations of Super Bonus symbols raise that to ten or twelve with guaranteed wilds. -
What does the ZapReel do in Silicon Spinners PopWins?
It’s a horizontal row of six cells above the main grid that’s active on every spin and cascades right to left. It carries regular symbols plus Sync Reels, Mystery Reel, Win Multiplier and Symbol Multiplier rewards. Its outer positions start locked and open when a wild lands on reel 1 or reel 6. -
How does the POPWINS mechanic work?
Each winning symbol pops and is replaced by two symbols, making the reel taller. Reels can grow to a height of six, and popping continues for as long as new wins land. Take every reel to its full height in the base game and two free spins are yours. -
Can free spins retrigger in Silicon Spinners PopWins?
Yes. A Bonus symbol in the round adds one to three spins and a Super Bonus adds two to four, while a full reel unlock is worth four more. Reel heights don’t fully reset between spins either, only back to the shortest reel. -
Can you buy the bonus on Silicon Spinners PopWins?
Yes. The XPRESS menu offers eight free spins for 100x the bet or a Super Bonus for 400x the bet, and there’s an ante bet at 1.5x the stake per spin that triples the chance of triggering the round naturally. A purchased round is capped at 20,000x the bet. -
What is the RTP of Silicon Spinners PopWins?
The RTP is 94.02%, paired with high volatility and a hit frequency of 23.25%. -
What is the grid and ways setup in Silicon Spinners PopWins?
The main grid is 5×3 with 729 ways shown in the base game, plus a six-cell ZapReel row above it. Winning symbols pop and expand the reels, so the ways count grows well beyond 729 during play.
