Splash of Riches Slot Review
A grinning leprechaun stands ankle-deep in spilled gold beside a wooden reel frame wound in ivy, two smoke-dark cauldrons glowering behind it. Splash of Riches is a game where the base game barely matters and knows it: the line wins exist mostly to feed two meters, and everything you’re really playing for arrives in one respin round at the end.
Wishbone has pushed that idea further here than most, and it holds together better than it sounds. It runs on a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines, at 96.02% RTP and high volatility, with wins capped at 5250x the bet. The approach is familiar from earlier Wishbone titles like Splash of Gold, and the collector style also runs through games such as Kingfisher and Phoenix Reign.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right from the first reel, on adjacent reels only, and only the highest combination counts per line. Twenty fixed paylines means no ways-counting to keep track of, which suits a game this focused on its collector bonus. Stakes run from 0.10 to 40.00 per spin.
The Rainbow Wild substitutes for every symbol except the Coin and the Pot of Gold, and it can form its own winning line too. It’s a plain wild, no multipliers attached. Those two exclusions matter more than they usually would, because the symbols it can’t stand in for are the ones the bonus needs.
All symbol values below are multiples of the total bet:
- Leprechaun: 2x / 4x / 10x for three, four or five
- Pot of Gold / Hat: 1x / 2x / 5x
- Violin, Pipe: 0.5x / 1x / 4x
- A, K, Q, J, 10: 0.2x / 0.5x / 2x
- Rainbow Wild: 2x / 4x / 10x, matching the top symbol
The royals are where most of the action comes from, and a full line of them returns as little as 0.2x. Only the top symbols clear 10x, so the base game isn’t where the money lives. Wins land often enough for the meters to keep ticking, at a hit frequency of 27.83%, but they’re rarely worth much on their own.
The Bonus Meters
What the base game is really for is pushing two meters: the Bonus Multiplier and the Bonus Guarantee. Every winning combination that involves the Leprechaun symbol, or a line made entirely of Wilds, raises both. They only climb during the base game, never inside the bonus itself, so the work is all done before the round starts.
- Bonus Multiplier: rises by 0.5x per qualifying win, to a maximum of 10x
- Bonus Multiplier resets between 1.5x and 10x after a bonus completes
- Bonus Guarantee: rises by 10x per qualifying win, to a maximum of 200x
- Bonus Guarantee resets between 30x and 200x after a bonus completes
The Guarantee is the floor: whatever happens inside the round, the bonus won’t pay less than the figure showing on that meter when it triggers. The Multiplier then acts on top, applied to every Coin collected. Both values are on screen throughout, so there’s never any doubt about what the bonus you’re building towards is worth.
Splash of Riches Bonus Feature
Land six Coin or Pot of Gold symbols anywhere in view and the bonus begins. It’s a hold-and-respin round: all triggering symbols lock in place, and you get three respins to land more of them.
Every respin is one chance. Any fresh Coin or Pot of Gold resets the count to three, so a round can run for a long time on a lucky streak of single-symbol drops. Once the respins run out with nothing new landing, the round is over. Bets and paylines stay exactly as they were on the triggering spin.
Each symbol that lands during a respin also lights one position on a trail. Light every position and the Grand prize is awarded. The prize ladder, as multipliers of the bet, runs:
- Mini: 10x
- Minor: 50x
- Major: 200x
- Grand: 5000x
How the Bonus Pays Out
The collection happens in a fixed order. First, every Coin on the reels is gathered and multiplied by the Bonus Multiplier built up in the base game. That multiplied total is what the Guarantee applies to: if it comes in under the meter’s figure, the floor makes up the difference.
Once the coins are settled, any Pots of Gold collected during the round are revealed, and each one awards one of the four ladder prizes at random. Pot of Gold values don’t count towards the Guarantee minimum, so the guaranteed floor comes from the coins alone. Winnings are collected automatically when the round closes.
Pot of Gold Prizes
The Pot of Gold isn’t confined to the bonus. It can land on any spin in the base game too, and it always awards one of the four ladder prizes at the end of the round. More than one can land on a single spin, each paying out separately.
It’s a small mechanic, but it gives every base game spin something extra to watch for.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a game of patient gardening with a leprechaun watching over it. You spin, mostly you win very little, and slowly you grow a bonus that’s guaranteed not to disappoint when it finally arrives. That slow accumulation is the one reason to pick it up, and it works.
The meters are the best thing here, because they turn losing spins into progress; a dud spin with a Leprechaun win still moves you forward. The roof is low, though. 5250x is a thin ceiling for a game this volatile, and a long session can build beautifully towards a bonus with a guaranteed floor. The guarantee stops it stinging, but it can’t make it thrilling.
If you enjoy the long build and like knowing your bonus has a floor under it, this is a comfortable home. Anyone after the big Irish jackpot will find this leprechaun’s pot well guarded and only half full.
